So many book-hungry people out there! This giveaway hit its 10,000 cap within 24 hours, so we’re already back with a winner. Our book release is officially here! Woo hoo! And we’re celebrating by giving away books this week. But not just our book. Lots o’ books. In fact, some of them will even come signed by some pretty awesome people. Woot! We’ve been gobbling up so many design, decor, and home books lately that we thought it’d be fun to share some of our recent faves from our library. I read a lot, and most of the books I read are checked out from the library. However, I do have a managable collection in my apartment, which is organized by cover color and stored on three shelving units — two in my living room and one in my entry way.
The books I am currently working on, are usually loaners form the library, and are stored neatly on my repurposed sewing machine cabinet as a bedsite table.

I keep some favorite coffee table-type books on the corner of my desk (currently: Farm Anatomy by Julia Rothman & Design*Sponge at Home). The rest of my books are on the top of the upper cabinets in the kitchen (so that awkward foot of space between the cabinets and the ceiling is filled and looks GOOD). And I suppose my current read (“Zeitoun” by Dave Eggers) is usually on-hand in my backpack or on a side table next to my favorite reading chair.

Hi guys, I live in NoVA but am originally from NY. I have been following your blog for about two years now. You guys feel like neighbors that I don’t get enough time to stop and talk to. My favorite books are usually kept in a bag I schlep from home to the car, to work, back to the car and back home daily. I keep the bag with me for a few months so I have access for down times like lunch, commuting, doctors’ appointments, waiting for kids’ practices to be over etc. Eventually it gets a spot next to the bed and eventually to the family room coffee table. Just looking at “regular” people making their house a home not only makes me happy, but inspires me to finish some of the many projects I have started and don’t seem to have the time to finish. I think you guys are awesome parents to Clara.

PS-Have you ever checked out ABC Carpet and Home in the Big Apple. I could spend weeks in there.

BOOK ME! I love to read and have a hard time letting go of books. My favorites are located in the bookshelf in the living room while the rest of the collection is relegated to the second bedroom bookshelf or boxes in a closet. But I don’t have any design books yet, so this would be a great start!!

My boyfriend and I both LOVE books and have special places all over the house: there’s a console in the living room, a shelf of cook books in the kitchen, 3 bookcases in the sun-room, a bookcase of our engineering/college books in the spare room, a dresser in my bedroom, and our nightstands have the books that are in queue for bedtime reading. Where do I NOT keep books?! I don’t think you can go more than 10′ in my house without finding a stack containing an old school book, a design book, a notebook, and some good ole fiction books. But my current favorite book location is in between my Jonathan Adler cat bookends! My lovely boyfriend bought them as a gift after I made the New Year’s Resolution of reading one book every month. Now I get excited about finishing a book, just so I can stick it in between those guys. And yes, those kitties are now filled with 11 books!
