Fab Freebie: Book Worms Rejoice

***This giveaway is now closed – see who won below!***

So many book-hungry people out there! This giveaway hit its 10,000 cap within 24 hours, so we’re already back with a winner. The lucky worm is… Melissa (who keeps her favorite books in a bedside cabinet, a living room end table, and on a special display shelf in the family room. She believes “all good book nerds have them in all parts of the house!”). Congrats Melissa!

Our book release is officially here! Woo hoo! And we’re celebrating by giving away books this week. But not just our book. Lots o’ books. In fact, some of them will even come signed by some pretty awesome people. Woot! We’ve been gobbling up so many design, decor, and home books lately that we thought it’d be fun to share some of our recent faves from our library. So in addition to a signed copy of our new book, you’ll also be getting copies of the following (marked with an asterisk when signed!):

  • The Things That Matter by Nate Berkus
  • The Handbuilt Home by Ana White*
  • Design*Sponge at Home by Grace Bonney
  • Home by Novogratz by Robert & Cortney Novogratz*
  • Style Me Pretty Weddings by Abby Larson* (which releases next month)
  • Happier at Home by Gretchen Rubin*

BookGiveawaySMP

  • PRIZE: Copies of all of the books shown above, including signatures from us, Gretchen Rubin, Abby Larson, the Novogratzes, and Ana White!
  • TO ENTER: Comment on this post with the words “BOOK ME!” and tell us…
  • BONUS QUESTION: … what special place in your home do you keep your favorite books? Do they get a prime spot on your coffee table? Or do you have a large collection of faves that fill a bookcase somewhere? Maybe your top pick at the moment just lives cozily on your night table?
  • GIVEAWAY CLOSES: Wednesday, Nov 7th at 8pm EST or at 10,000 entries (whichever comes first)
  • NUMBER OF WINNERS: One
  • PRIZE SHIPS: The United States (although we try to wrangle as many international giveaways as possible – more on that here)
  • USUAL STUFF: One entry per e-mail address is permitted. The winner will be selected using random.org and announced on Thursday as an update to this post. That’s right, come right back here on Thursday for the announcement of our winner. Good luck…

Note: We aren’t paid or perked for hosting these giveaways, we just do ‘em to thank you awesome folks for stopping in. See our Giveaway FAQ page for more info.

BOOK ME!! There are two special places where we keep books in our home: in the living room book case organized by color (Novagratz-style) and in a rolling cart on my side of the bed. The books on the rolling cart are the ones I’m about to start reading and/or in the middle of reading!

Book Me! :) I only have one design book so far… and it came in a pretty brown amazon box today!! (it’s yours, of course)! So far, it’s been following me around the house all day. Needless to say, it doesn’t have a permanent spot in the house, yet. But he sure would look amazing with a few friends to keep him company!

Most of them reside in our crowded office. Sometimes it’s nice to sit in there and pretend that the clutter will just disappear, built-ins will materialize, a nice soft oversized leather chair will appear with soft throws, and I’ll have my own personal library.

We have a 2 year old who LOVES to read (and we were blessed with many hand-me-downs) so our favorite place for books is on the couch, on the floor, and sometimes on the bookshelf. They’re everywhere for everyone to see, though I’m sure that’s not what you were asking :)

Sadly, I left most of my physical books behind when we moved out to our little island paradise in the middle of the Aleutians. So most of my favorite books live on my iPad! I spent a few hours downloading a ton of books using my fast wireless (oh, how I miss you, fast internet) before we moved.

    BOOK ME!

There’s a running joke that I don’t know how to read, and coincidentally, my book collection is, well… Lacking. My first roommate (and best friend) was a total book worm, owning three bookshelves, a bed, and nothing else. Two of the bookshelves snapped after bearing too much weight, but a former-garage-sale-find-turned-family-hand-me-down made it through the literary storms. When she moved out, she said she would come back and grab it, since the car was already full, but for some reason, she never did. It still sits in my living room (with a very small library of books, and probably three times as many vinyl records) and my best friend still visits often, though she hasn’t ever mentioned taking that case back…
