Fab Freebie: Ankasa For Your Casa

You guys may know of Ankasa’s collection of couture home furnishings which includes hand-embroidered pillows going for more than $300 a pop. But you may not know that one of our favorite online retailers, Ballard Designs, has debuted an exclusive line of Ankasa pillows for less than a third of the price. And thanks to the lovely folks at Ballard, one lucky reader is going to win one of these couture pillows on the house!

ballarddesignsankasacoutourecollage

Each of these three high-end pillows is hand cut and features rich, hand embroidered details that are sure to dress up any seat in your house. You’ve got two 18″ square and a 12″ x 20″ floral throw pillow to choose from. Although with such hard work put into their intricate designs I feel like we should call them “carefully place” pillows, not “throw pillows.”

To enter, just comment on this post with the words “HAND ‘EM OVER” by Wednesday, March 18th at 8pm EST. And while you’re at it, we’d also love to know the most intricate, delicate or complicated thing you’ve ever made with your own two hands. A masterful painting? A mutli-course meal? An extra tall Jenga tower? Oh and in case you don’t know the giveaway drill by now: please limit one entry per e-mail address (our winners are blindly selected using random.org). This prize is available to US residents only. Good luck…

    HAND ‘EM OVER (gently!)

The most complicated thing would definitely have to be the construction of every single paper product for my wedding (still a work in progress!)

I once made a purse.. picked out my fabric and cut out different patterns, it was the longest process of my life (and I don’t even use the purse now)… go figure!

Hand ’em over! It isn’t exactly complicated but the most challenging thing I have done lately is remove the bathroom mirror that the previous po glued to the wall. What a mess!

From scratch pocketfold invitations for my wedding were the most complex thing I’ve made. The first 10 weren’t too bad, but the next 150 started to take a toll! Still, I loved them, and I would go through the trouble all over again.

I sewed alot of my daughter’s “fancy” dresses when she was growing up, and spent many an hour smocking, embroidering, etc. The most fun, and most challenging were the Halloween costumes and other costumes for other occassions.

    Hand ’em over!

I, too, am a big Ballard Designs fan (but, alas, our budget quite often falls short of actually being able to buy anything from there!).

As for the most intricate thing I’ve ever made, I would have to go with those who named their children and say my son. It’s still mind-boggling to think about all the things that go into making a baby in those long nine months!

(Also, I make a mean pumpkin cheesecake during the holidays that is a two-day affair, which also inevitably involves middle-of-the-night attention because of my inability to start anything at a reasonable time of day . . . so maybe that also counts as “intricate”?!?)

Hand ‘Em Over – and nobody gets hurt! The most intricate thing I’ve done was probably stripping the old stain and varnish off my great grandmother’s bedroom set. The 3-mirroed dressing table and bench were the worst. All the details were beautiful but a pain to clean. It was so worth it – a sensational piece now!
