Fab Freebie: Ankasa For Your Casa

You guys may know of Ankasa’s collection of couture home furnishings which includes hand-embroidered pillows going for more than $300 a pop. But you may not know that one of our favorite online retailers, Ballard Designs, has debuted an exclusive line of Ankasa pillows for less than a third of the price. And thanks to the lovely folks at Ballard, one lucky reader is going to win one of these couture pillows on the house!

ballarddesignsankasacoutourecollage

Each of these three high-end pillows is hand cut and features rich, hand embroidered details that are sure to dress up any seat in your house. You’ve got two 18″ square and a 12″ x 20″ floral throw pillow to choose from. Although with such hard work put into their intricate designs I feel like we should call them “carefully place” pillows, not “throw pillows.”

This prize is available to US residents only. Good luck…

In high school I ended up hand sequining an entire army uniform for the play Bye-Bye Birdie, it took me nearly a month to finish it. . .

Well, I’m taking a class (starting tonight) on reupholstering furniture so I can redo our patio set. Since I’ve never sewed anything a day in my life, I think that this will be my most intricate project (hopefully a first of many and not the last).

Hand “Em Over! I would say the most delicate thing I ever made with my own two hands would be painting my master bedroom with out any painters tape- all free hand. It took great patience and a steady hand around all the wood trim and on the edges of the accent wall!

I once did a scratchboard drawing of a pair of edible dormice in art class. For those wondering, scratchboard is a board with a coating of black ink and you use knives to scratch away the black ink to remove the white board underneath. So it’s like drawing in reverse. I scratched off each individual hair in these silly mice and ended up winning first place in a local audubon society art show.
