Fab Freebie: Ankasa For Your Casa

You guys may know of Ankasa’s collection of couture home furnishings which includes hand-embroidered pillows going for more than $300 a pop. But you may not know that one of our favorite online retailers, Ballard Designs, has debuted an exclusive line of Ankasa pillows for less than a third of the price. And thanks to the lovely folks at Ballard, one lucky reader is going to win one of these couture pillows on the house!

ballarddesignsankasacoutourecollage

Each of these three high-end pillows is hand cut and features rich, hand embroidered details that are sure to dress up any seat in your house. You’ve got two 18″ square and a 12″ x 20″ floral throw pillow to choose from. Although with such hard work put into their intricate designs I feel like we should call them “carefully place” pillows, not “throw pillows.”

And while you’re at it, we’d also love to know the most intricate, delicate or complicated thing you’ve ever made with your own two hands. A masterful painting? A mutli-course meal? An extra tall Jenga tower? Oh and in case you don’t know the giveaway drill by now: please limit one entry per e-mail address (our winners are blindly selected using random.org). This prize is available to US residents only. Good luck…

I made a cross-stitch of a Tigger and near the end, I was one off so Tigger had a sort of peg-leg. He’s framed at my parents’ house in my old bedroom.

The most intricate thing I’ve made was my first hand-knit sweater. I was a little over ambitious and chose a Dale of Norway pattern. It took me 6 months, but it turned out great!

HAND ‘EM OVER! They are gorgeous! The kind of thing where I look at my fiance and say “We’ll be rich enough to afford this one day, right?

The most intricate thing I’ve ever made myself was when I hand-beaded my wedding veil. Took forever but the whole thing is Swarovski and cost about $25 compared to $200 like in stores. Worth it!

Hand em’ over baby! The most intricate thing I’ve made with my own two hands are two hundred mini cupcakes, stuffing them into an even minier box, decorating the box with ribbon and tying a bow atop….Talk about crazy glueing my fingers together! OUCH!

The best thing I make with my hands is music…I play the guitar and sing every day as my job (I’m a music therapist). I sacrifice my fingernails and the tips of my fingers, but it’s worth it :)

“HAND ‘EM OVER” I used to paint and my dad asked me to paint a picture of a beach scene for a new venture he was working on. It was my most detailed painting ever and I slaved over it. I emailed him a pic of the finished product and he said, I quote: “that isn’t really what I was looking for”…WHAT??? screw him, I have the painting proudly displayed in my house now :)

The most intricate thing I have made was created years & years ago…..I decided to update my mom’s 60’s black silk velvet dress for a school dance by transforming the A-line sillouhette into an hour-glass shape, and added silk chiffon sleeves with french cuffs. It was a challenge to create those cuffs out of such delicate fabric, but the result was well worth it.

HAND ‘EM OVER! I am not really an intricate delicate sort of person. I like to make stuff but it usually ends up some sort of big chunky project. I have made a few baby blankets as well as some scarves. :P but thats about as delicate as i get. So these pillows would be perfect since there is no way i could do any of that on my own. :)
