This may be my favorite freebie title of all time. Is it the name of a band? Is it the newest Pixar film? Nope, it’s just the two words that describe the options that this week’s SIX winners will get to choose from thanks to Cardboard Safari. They’re the makers of cool, quirky animal trophies that are formed entirely out of intersecting pieces of laser-cut cardboard. So if you ever wanted that big moose head on your wall but didn’t have the heart to bust out your inner-Palin, they’ve got you covered.
In fact, Cardboard Safari is so environmentally friendly that their cardboard is all recycled, non-toxic and made locally. They’re actually based in nearby Charlottesville, VA and we’ve bumped into their quirky, cool products all over town lately (our friend Noah even helped design their skull-themed products) so we figured it was about time we did a giveaway with them.
And just as the post title suggests, we’re giving away two of their newer products as they continue to expand beyond their signature trophies. This week’s winners will get to choose from their new Full-Body Rhino OR Astro Rocket (shown above). Each comes in three sizes in either brown or white cardboard (though they’re entirely paintable if you’d prefer, say, a pink rhino). They’re shipped flat and assembly is easy (kinda like a fun puzzle).
In fact, you can check out the video below of us putting together the – prepared to be shocked – small white rhino that we snagged for our very own home. The whole thing took us about 15 minutes, not including a bathroom break for a certain four-legged family member.

Being an aerospace engineer, my dream vacation of course involves space-but it also involves a little world travel. I would love to launch from every single launch pad in the world (think Russia, Cape Canaveral, Japan, India) into space. Sure this vacation would take a long time, as after launch the I would spend some time in space, maybe aboard the ISS, but it would be one vacation to remember.

If i could travel anywhere, it would be back in time to first meet Princess Diana. Laugh if you want, but i remember watching her wedding when i was a little girl and i was in awe. Then a little further back to meet Lucille Ball. She SO rocked. Maybe i could talk her into letting me guest star on I Love Lucy. I’d have loved to get into some hijinx with her and Ethel.
So yeah. If time travel were ever to become available, i’d be first in line at the travel agent’s office booking a fab trip.

In 9th grade Tech Ed class our big project was to work as a team to take normal corrugated cardboard and masking tape to make a chair. Many of the groups were less than successful, but the one my group made worked great! I remember bringing it home on the bus one day, but after that I don’t remember what happened to it.
Around the same time my brother entered in a cardboard boat contest, and did so for several years making more and more structurally sound and robust boats. I only entered once, and mine was a bit of a flop. But there’s at least one of his still in our parents attic. With regular outdoor latex paint covering it, it’s probably very sea worthy this very day!
