Fab Freebie: What’s In A Name?

*** This giveaway is now closed – see who won below! ***

After 10,000 interesting name origin stories, random.org has selected our winners as… Beth (who says “my dad picked it out and to this day I’m whole heartily a daddy’s girl.”) and Chelsea (who’s name story is: “My parents got my name from the 1981 movie, On Golden Pond. ‘Chelsea’ was played by Jane Fonda”) Congrats!

I realize from the name Online Fabric Store, you might have trouble guessing what this online store sells, so allow me to solve that mystery for ya. Fabric! And seemingly every kind of fabric – like upholstery, decor, quilting, apparel and even garden fabric. Which means that this week’s two winners (who are each getting $250 to spend there) could tackle anything from sewing some pillow covers or making a duvet to redoing the curtains in an entire room. And the cool thing about their system is that the more yardage you buy, the cheaper each yard gets – and once you get over that $50 mark, your shipping in the US is free.

  2. Kait says

Fabric me! My mom loved my name. I’m the youngest and the only girl, and if my brothers had been girls instead, it would have been theirs. I like it now, but when I was a kid I once told my parents I’d rather be called by my middle name instead.

  4. Kristen says

FABRIC ME! There is no significance behind my name – I guess my parents just liked it! I did always love the alliterative nature of it though!

  5. Valerie says

FABRIC ME! My dad knew he wanted to name his first girl Valerie since he was an early teen… and so that’s my name! :)

  6. Nicole Berliner says

My mom was really into some type of 1970’s soap opera where her favorite actress was names Nicole, lo and behold that became my name. I have always loved my name and am glad it is spelled the way it is!

  7. Brenda says

    Fabric me!

My parents picked my name because they didn’t really like the possible nicknames associated with other names they liked. I’ve never been wild about it, but I do appreciate that it’s not an overly common name.

  8. Nancy in Dayton says

FABRIC ME! I’m redoing my study and would love to make curtains from Online Fabric Store. My grandma told me my Vietnamese mom wanted to name me Arlene (my grandma’s suggestion) but she couldn’t say the “R” sound correctly. My Dad says they just preferred Nancy!

  9. Denyse says

    Fabric Me!

My name was my grandma’s, picked by my Dad. It’s served me well enough these past 24 years. I guess I’ll keep it :)
