Fab Freebie: What’s In A Name?

*** This giveaway is now closed – see who won below! ***

After 10,000 interesting name origin stories, random.org has selected our winners as… Beth (who says “my dad picked it out and to this day I’m whole heartily a daddy’s girl.”) and Chelsea (who’s name story is: “My parents got my name from the 1981 movie, On Golden Pond. ‘Chelsea’ was played by Jane Fonda”) Congrats!

I realize from the name Online Fabric Store, you might have trouble guessing what this online store sells, so allow me to solve that mystery for ya. Fabric! And seemingly every kind of fabric – like upholstery, decor, quilting, apparel and even garden fabric. Which means that this week’s two winners (who are each getting $250 to spend there) could tackle anything from sewing some pillow covers or making a duvet to redoing the curtains in an entire room. And the cool thing about their system is that the more yardage you buy, the cheaper each yard gets – and once you get over that $50 mark, your shipping in the US is free.

Apparently Kimberly was the only name my parents could agree on or so I’m told!

Fabric Me! My dad chose my name, just because he liked it. Little did he know that tons of other 80’s parents loved the name Kristi/en too! Now I’m never without a friend of the same name, but usually a different spelling :)

FABRIC ME! No special meaning, but my dad insisted on adding the “h” in Nichole. Cue a lifetime of misspellings but I really don’t mind :) My husband’s name is Josh, which is neat because that was one of the boy names my parents picked out.

    FABRIC ME!

My first name is Krystle — my parents picked the name from their favorite character off of some soap opera back in the day (the actresses real name.. not her character’s name). I don’t mind my name so much… but HATE the spelling. I’ve gotten so used to my name being mis-spelled over the years, I don’t even notice it anymore.

My mom found it while reading her Soap Opera Digest. Apparently “Diandra” was on a show she didn’t watch, but she loved the name. My middle name is for my cousin/godmother. When I was little I hated my name, no one could pronounce it or spell it right. I wanted to be named Samantha. But now that I’m older, I appreciate having an uncommon name. I never had to pick a nickname or go by my last initial like the many Ashleys, Katies, Amandas, etc. :D

FABRIC ME!! My given name us Julie Lavette and I go by my first name Julie. However that was not always the case. I was named after my dad whose name is Julius. For the first two months of my life they called me Lavette. One day my uncle told my mom that she named me after my dad so they should call me Julie and that’s the name I’ve been called ever since. Although some people call me Jules. I’m glad they changed it because I like Julie much better than Lavette.
