Joss Me! I guess my good luck house story would be living with my husband. This is our first apartment together. We did not live with each other before we were married and everyday is new :)
JOSS ME!!
I wouldn’t say it’s home improvement but I found an old metal kitchen cabinet on Craig’s List that, once painted blue, made the perfect tv stand. :)
Joss Me!!
Would love a shopping spree

“JOSS ME!” “Our” house that we’d had our eye on for a few years went on the market on April Fool’s day…we were lucky enough to get it even though several others were very interested and to sell our old house in time to make it all work out!
JOSS ME!
I don’t have my own place quite yet but there are a few staples that I own that I’m already planning around. One is a London telephone booth statue type thing and the other an Eiffel Tower I have that I can’t wait to use as focal points in a living room!
JOSS ME… pleeeeease!
I found an amazing armchair in pristine condition for $15 bucks! Score of my year (so far)!
JOSS ME!
Luckiest moment so far was scoring an awesome bedroom chair at a yard sale for a $1 and my aunt reupholstering it for free. I love it and still get so many compliments on it.
Joss Me!!!! I will be feeling really lucky when our house sells :)
JOSS ME!
I’d have to say my luckiest moment so far is having my parents offer to help me pay for room DIY projects.
Thanks for the giveaway opportunity!
JOSS ME!
Lucky me, my bro was doing the requisite 3 months of post-college unemployment stint when we bought our house 2 years ago. He was bored as heck, and re-painted every room in our house for us… and I paid him in home-cooked meals! Now he’s fixing up his own house, so I’d probably give half this to him to buy some cool stuff for it.
JOSS ME!
My luckiest home decor moment was when I had been searching for drapes for the living room for.ev.er and would be happy with something green or aqua, but nothing I found was the right shade. Then one day, I stumbled on the colors that perfectly matched on a striped sheer, and both the green and the aqua matched exactly!
JOSS ME!
My home improvement good luck charm is my husband who knows how to fix all the things that go wrong in the house!

JOSS ME!!!
Hubby & I just bought our first home…could use this to get the decorating ball rolling!!!
We love YHL!!
JOSS ME!
We got lucky when our bad luck (getting kicked out of our apartment over the holidays & before the 08 Presidential inauguration in DC- madness) turned into good luck- finding the right first home for us quickly. It was the first place we looked at and thanks to the slow time of year, we got a good deal, closed before New Year’s and now have our own single family home instead of a condo and couldn’t be happier.
JOSS ME!! My “joss” moment was scoring an old mantle from a local antique store. I brought it home and decided to use it as a headboard for our queen size bed. We get tons of questions about where we got it (Restoration? Pottery Barn?) and the best part is it was only $30!

I bought my first house (foreclosure) 2 years ago. I fell in love from the moment I saw it. There was one other offer on the house so I offered $2,000 above the asking price. The next day, the bank decreased the asking price by $10,000 (bummer). Somehow, the offers weren’t entered to the bank correctly so the next week my realtor resubmitted my original offer. They accepted my offer, but to the tune of $12,000 less! I ended up paying what the bank lowered the price to! Score!
Joss Me!
We scored some amazing furniture with our new house! The old owners left it, some elbow grease and a little paint later, it’s brand new!
Joss Me!
Our house was an incredible deal- so much so that when my husband first sent me the link to the listing, I didn’t really want to go look at it. I was convinced that for such a low price, it was either located on a major highway or the walls were covered with mold. Thankfully, neither one was the case!
JOSS ME!
I got very lucky when i went to buy a table lamp and ended up not doing it because of course I doubted myself and then some weeks later I went to an outlet and found the exact same lamp for much cheaper :)
JOSS ME!
My luckiest moment was marrying a general contractor. He’s so talented and has made both of our fixer uppers look amazing.
JOSS ME!!!!
JOSS ME!
Our luckiest moment was probably scoring an Ikea bookcase we had been eyeing on the Ikea website for about half the price from a friend that was moving. Yes!!
JOSS ME!
I haven’t had a lucky moment YET! Maybe this is it!!
Luckiest homeowner moment… finding the house. Our Realtor actually spit out her drink on my wish list – 3 bedroom, 2 bath, two story, dining room, large kitchen…$115,000 max. Second house we looked at we knew was ours and at LESS thank asking price ;-) Gotta love the midwest!

For the longest time I was a live-on residence hall director for a University, which meant free, furnished apartments. Then, unexpectedly, I landed my dream job and had to move out on my own! I was 25 and my husband and I had zero furniture to our name. For the first two weeks in our apartment we had a bed, and nothing else (we ate sitting on the floor of our dinning room). Right as we were moving my husband’s grandmother was moving from her four bedroom house to a one bedroom apartment at an assisted living home. When she learned about our situation she generously offered us her furniture! We got amazing mid-century and older antiques for free and were able to furnish our entire home. If it wasn’t for the perfect timing and Grandma’s generosity we’d be living in a super minimal home with mostly Ikea and Craigslist finds.
JOSS ME! So many lucky finds thrifting – but we really love our antique (looking) liquor cabinet. Great hub for entertaining!
Joss me!
We found our wood flooring on clearance. It was originally around $3.70 a sq ft and we got it for $1.69 a sq ft.

JOSS ME! I just bought my first house with a lot of luck…I battled in a very competitive Seattle real estate market for months when I found a very over priced, but perfect home for sale by an estate that had been sitting on the market for about a year. They decided to come way down on the price right when I was ready to give up.
JOSS ME! (please)
JOSS ME!
My luckiest moment was finding a West Elm $150 lamp on sale for $40!
Joss me! An ikea bed with underbed drawers & mattress found on craigslist for $25.
Joss me! I think one of my luckiest furniture stories is that my aunt and uncle hand-built me a desk for one of my teen birthdays. I still have it. It’s amazing.
JOSS ME!
We were home shopping in Texas from North Carolina and lucked out on our first trip. 3 years later we are stil loving the house!
Joss me! I found a 3 piece library unit on Craig’s list, almost new that was at least 1/2 price. I liked it better than any of the new ones I had seen in the stores!
JOSS ME!
My luckiest find was the buffet that my mother-in-law pulled out of storage – it is my favorite piece of furniture. And I love that you found a white dog (RIP) to include in your board!
JOSS ME!
JOSS ME! When I moved into my new condo, my friends donated couches, shelves, chairs, you name it! I’m lucky to have such great friends!

My luckiest moment is having a dad who can diy everything- we tore down old walls in our basement and REUSED the old beams and sheetrock to put up new walls! What a recycle!
JOSS ME!! I found some great deals at Goodwill. My favoriite being an ancient (and ugly) picture that must date back to the early 70′s. The fame was big and chunky (18″ x 48″) and just begging to be painted. I think I’m going to steal a DIY art project that you shared a long time ago from It’s Great To Be Home. The best part…it was only $5!!
JOSS ME!
My coolest home improvement item was a recent find. I needed a curtain for a doorway between our bedroom and kitchen (don’t ask :-P). I couldn’t find anything I liked within my budget. I walked past the tablecloths and BAM! there was a gorgeous tablecloth at a great price! I looked at the measurements and sure enough it was perfect! Took it home, sewed a rod pocket at the top, and it was good to go. I love it!
JOSS ME!
my luckiest moment was buying our pottery barn office funiture (desk + filing cabinets) at a consignment shop for 50% less than its website sale price!!
Joss me!
Our luckiest home improvement thing is my handy dad, since my husband is not so handy! My dad can fix anything!
Joss Me!
My luckiest home moment was our house. The first time we bid on it we lost. So sad! But it was a short sale and the first couple pulled out b/c it was taking so long. Yay for us! And so the second time around our bid was accepted and here we are today!
JOSS ME!!!! Please!!!!
JOSS ME!
No lucky moment to share. :/
