Fab Freebie: You Clean Up Nice

Yes, this freebie is about cleaning, but the “nice” part of my post title risks being a major understatement. For instance, would you call this incredible Australian house that we virtually crashed back in February just “nice?”
Of course not. It’s amazing. Which is why we’re excited that those very homeowners are also the geniuses behind the luxurious and superbly eco-friendly cleaning line called Murchison-Hume. Even more excitingly, they’re sending over $250 worth of luxe home-cleaning products to one lucky reader’s casa (feel free to drool, since you’ll soon have something to clean it up with).
So why do we love Murchison-Hume? Let’s start with the design: vintage apothecary-style bottles that make any countertop photo-shoot ready. Then there’s the eco part. All products are premium organic and are based in the same technology that cleans up oil spills, meaning they’re completely non-toxic. Oh, and of course there’s the fact that they actually work – and smell great (mmm, Australian White Grapefruit). Keep it clean! – Ugh, I despise a dirty dining room table (and floor), and am constantly wiping up all the crumbs, mess and gunk that 2 toddlers and a husband all make! :) Although, I am much better about the whole dining room now that we ripped up the pink carpet(!) under it. The hardwood cleans up much nicer and is so much more appropriate in an eating area for us!

Well, I obsessively wash my hands, but that’s about it. If only my house received the same treatment. Fingers crossed that I win – then I’d have a great reason to get excited about cleaning :-)
Keep it clean… I’m kind of obsessive about my kitchen appliances, especially my stand mixer, being clean. I actually wish I was more obsessive about cleaning. It seems my cleaning is more intermittently compulsive, though – sometimes I just HAVE to clean the house.

Keep it clean! For me, kitchen countertops have to be clean. There can be a sink full of dishes and clutter everywhere, but if those countertops are clean, it makes the whole kitchen feel nice. Kind of like a made bed…it does wonders.

I’m a massive attempted clean freak about the kitchen and bathrooms, I have the bump-on Delta faucet so I don’t have to touch it with icky chicken hands, but I have one adorable little hitch in my cleaning giddy-up, namely a wee parrot. Parrots are crazy sensitive and may die when exposed to any form of odor or chemicals, burning candles is a no-no, plus DEFINITELY no bleach, ammonia-based cleaners, 409, or scented Mr. Clean. And I live in backwoods Nevada, so there aren’t exactly a lot of stores selling organic cleaner. So I’d love to try something organic that is totally safe and effective, for the whole family and for my little feathered child!

I’m a compulsive laundry washer. I do a load almost every day and I’m constantly washing clothes that were barely worn.

ok… I WISH I was more compulsively clean cuz I am kind of a messy girl. However, I am pretty good at keeping my drawers tidy… I like my sock, undies, and everything uber organized — even if the house is not so tidy.
For me it’s my towels that I wash a lot. My cat loves to pull them down and roll on them so I go through way more than more people!

keep it clean, huh? yeah. the only thing i can truly keep clean is laundry. and it’s got to be the only thing i obsessively clean. i’m pretty good at toddler stain removing, and i think we wash at least a load a day. mostly because if anyone’s worn it once, it’s dirty. which i’m sure wreaks havoc on our water bill, but it’s included in the rent and doesn’t change monthly.
KEEP IT CLEAN – I… uh… I clean… but not obsessively. Wait! I obsessively clean OTHER people’s clutter. I will ignore my clothes on the floor and papers in piles, but will get annoyed and start cleaning my fiance’s stuff. Oops! :) I guess I should take a closer look at my own messiness.

My one obsession is my sock drawer. Clothes may be spilling out of all the other drawers, and piled on top, and waiting to be put away, but my socks are folded and neat and organized by color and season! A little bit of calm in the bedroom storm.

I’m called the “garbage natzi” because I HATE garbage. If I see even a small piece of paper outside my house I flip out! I am always making sure our garbage bins are clean and not falling over. It takes all I can not to jump out of the car while I’m driving when I see tons of garbage on the side of the road. My husband thinks I’m a bit crazy and says I should work with garbage but I tell him I think I’d really go crazy, lol!

I’m OCD about cabinet doors and drawers being closed, the dishes/tupperware stacked and organized, and pretty much every surface cleared and clean. Too bad the hubby is quite the opposite!
