Decorative Bedroom Pillows

We promised a post about the project that kept us busy yesterday, so we’ll be sharing that as soon as we can get the pics uploaded and sized (we had to wait until this morning to shoot afters in the daylight). Until then, here’s another pillow post (notice a theme lately?) that we’ve owed you for the past week.

We mentioned during our failed shower curtain attempt that our trip to HomeGoods wasn’t entirely fruitless. But we just realized we never elaborated about the, er, fruit. So here we go: we found this bold pair of greeny-gold pillows that practically screamed “I want to date your duvet.” So we introduced them:

Pillows Straight On

They were just $24 for the pair (12 bucks a pop), and we thought they’d complement our bedding perfectly – especially with that subtle lattice pattern and the shiny fabric to add some texture and interest. And we like the idea of a white pillow in front of them for contrast, so we’re thinking we’ll try to hunt down something similar to the ruffled pillow in the West Elm picture below on the cheap from TJ Maxx or World Market instead. Or maybe we’ll just go crazy and pick up a bright randomly colored pillow (eggplant? navy?) and work it in with art and other accessories that’ll be introduced to the room as we go. For now our white Paris pillow above works as a placeholder of sorts. No rush.

We’re enjoying the extra dose of color among our formerly-all-white pillow collection on the new bed. And that “we” includes Clara (who likes to play hide and seek behind them)…

…and her big brother (who likes to go crazy in general, on and around them). Watch his antics below or over here on YouTube:

Ah dogs and pillows. Gotta love them.

Beefier post to come when we’re done uploading and sizing pics!

Love that baby pic…she is to cute for words but then you already knew that. Here’s a whitel pillow idea…opt for a bolster of some sort to add some roundness to all those square edges you have in the room i.e. mirror, bed frame, window moldings etc. For fun, I would choose an extra large bolster that Sherry could easily sew herself. (sorry Sherry) room is looking good!

I, too, was going to suggest HomeGoods. I recently saw pillows very similar to the one from West Elm there, with lots of different colors and textures. I know they have white and off white/cream with very similar patterns to the one you have your eye on. I love it so much, I wanted to buy it for our house, but didn’t have a place to put it!

Kohls has a white pillow similar to the West Elm pillow in its Vera Wang collection.

It is called the: Simply Vera Vera Wang City Night Eyelash Pillow

You guys always have the cutest duvet covers, where do you find them? I am currently looking for one, the room is blue, and having the hardest time on finding one I like. Any suggestions??

We got both this duvet cover and the old one (which will live on in the guest room) from West Elm. Love their stuff!

Wow, how cute is Clara! She is looks like such a happy baby. :) You are blessed.

Those colors are so fun! Do you always suggest to buy your duvet before painting a room?

No way! We’ve done things in all sorts of orders and they always seem to work if you just take things one step at a time. If you start with wall color, that will inform what duvet you choose, and vice versa. Then you can add in things like curtains, pillows, etc. One step at a time!

    The new pillows match wonderfully!

That video of burger is hysterical. I watched it with my little Roman Chi sitting on my lap, he does the same thing. I love it.

Like a million other people, I adore your website. You are the only one I know of that posts DIY projects every, single day- but my purpose in posting was because I stumbled upon this AWESOME pillow on Etsy and the play on words reminded me of you guys. It’s also very sweet and you seem sweet (like nice) and sweeeet (like cool) haha. So without further ado The “Olive You” pillow! http://www.etsy.com/listing/65663367/olive-you-pillow-cover
