Fab Freebie: Young Horse Love

***This giveaway is no longer accepting entries***

This week we’re giving away a totally customized painting from a special group of artists. Wanna meet ’em? Allow us to introduce Blitz, Minnow, and Boomer: the artists in residence at Painting Pony. Yes, I said artists.

Ponies Artists

If the paintbrushes in their mouths weren’t proof enough that these Chincoteague Ponies know their way around a canvas (I know, I was a bit skeptical at first too), just check out the colorful artwork they create with the help of their trainer Kyley DiLuigi.

Ponies Painting Collage

Not only do they create one-of-a-kind pieces (with a unique backstory, no less) they also let you add some input about the painting before it’s made, so it’s sure to complement your home. You get to pick the background color and up to four paint colors to be used AND you get to choose which four-legged artist creates it. Kyley also throws in a CD with photos and/or video of it being whipped up.

Ponies Horse To House

If you wanna see these artsy horses in action there’s a video of the painting process (as well as other tricks) on the Painting Pony website. Oh, and be sure to check out their rockstar Dachshund sidekick Ammo. Burger so wants to meet him someday.

Now on to the details for the prize (and stay tuned for another special offer on Thursday):

  • PRIZE: A custom 16″ x 20″ canvas by Painting Pony as described in this Etsy listing.
  • TO ENTER: Comment on this post with the words “PONY UP” and…
  • BONUS QUESTION: …since this week’s prize is all about ponies with amazing tricks up their sleeves, why not tell us about another animal trickster you’ve been wowed by (whether its a skateboarding dog you spotted on YouTube or maybe even some amazing feat your own pet pulled off).
  • GIVEAWAY CLOSES: Wednesday, September 15th at 8pm EST
  • NUMBER OF WINNERS: One
  • PRIZE SHIPS: Anywhere in the world!
  • USUAL STUFF: One entry per e-mail address is permitted. The winner will be selected using random.org and announced on Thursday. Good luck…

I’m not sure if this actually qualifies as a trick, but there is something kind of amazing about the fact that my cat, after 2 years of marriage to my husband, still hates him with an absolute passion. Her best hate based trick is to come up behind him on the sofa table while he watching television and then to insane hiss right in his ear. He freaks out every time! I think this could seriously go viral on YouTube!

Of course I’m a bit biased, but I was pretty darn proud of my Chihuahua who “accidentally” taught himself how to speak and roll over.

Our dog, Bosco, fetched the paper without even being taught! We don’t take the paper, but one morning we noticed one on our front yard. We told Bosco to go get it and opened the door. She ran out, got it, ran back in… of course then she wouldn’t let it go.

My Lab can do all of the standard things: sit, stay, give me five. But my favorite thing she does is “find her toy”. She carries her toys with her ALL THE TIME and used to take them outside and lose them in our backyard, where they’d get muddy, moldy, or full of gross bugs. So now before she comes in the house we ask her where her toy is, and she runs around the yard looking until she finds it (and pounces on it) and brings it in with her! It’s very cute, and truly a trick for the lazy…

My mom’s dog Nick sings along to the Law and Order: SVU theme song…but only that song. Once it gets to this certain note about half way through, he’s off and howling. But if you laugh audibly, he gets embarassed and stops.

I’d love to win a pony painting!

My cats know how to fetch. I didn’t even have to teach them! One day my male cat brought a bottlecap he had been playing with over to me. I tossed it across the room for him, he played with it for a little bit, then picked it up in his mouth and dropped it at my feet again. We played fetch for about half an hour! My female cat does the same thing, but with toy mice.

I remember the Misty books from when I was a horse-crazy young girl. So cute, I love the colors of these paintings. I am in need of art for my living room – and still looking for the chair fabric – one of these paintings would be so amazing and personal!

My favorite animal trick lately has gotta be that Dancing Merengue Dog. If I did this correctly you can click my name for a link to the youtube video. Hilarious.

Pony Up! Indeed! These are amazing and I’d proudly display it in my home. Our fuzzball cat has a couple of tricks. My fave is when you say to her, high fives!, she stands up on her back legs and rests one front paw on your leg and reaches out her other paw to give you a high five.
