Fab Freebie: Young Horse Love

***This giveaway is no longer accepting entries***

This week we’re giving away a totally customized painting from a special group of artists. Wanna meet ’em? Allow us to introduce Blitz, Minnow, and Boomer: the artists in residence at Painting Pony. Yes, I said artists.

Ponies Artists

If the paintbrushes in their mouths weren’t proof enough that these Chincoteague Ponies know their way around a canvas (I know, I was a bit skeptical at first too), just check out the colorful artwork they create with the help of their trainer Kyley DiLuigi.

Ponies Painting Collage

Not only do they create one-of-a-kind pieces (with a unique backstory, no less) they also let you add some input about the painting before it’s made, so it’s sure to complement your home. You get to pick the background color and up to four paint colors to be used AND you get to choose which four-legged artist creates it. Kyley also throws in a CD with photos and/or video of it being whipped up.

Ponies Horse To House

If you wanna see these artsy horses in action there’s a video of the painting process (as well as other tricks) on the Painting Pony website. Oh, and be sure to check out their rockstar Dachshund sidekick Ammo. Burger so wants to meet him someday.

Now on to the details for the prize (and stay tuned for another special offer on Thursday):

  • PRIZE: A custom 16″ x 20″ canvas by Painting Pony as described in this Etsy listing.
  • TO ENTER: Comment on this post with the words “PONY UP” and…
  • BONUS QUESTION: …since this week’s prize is all about ponies with amazing tricks up their sleeves, why not tell us about another animal trickster you’ve been wowed by (whether its a skateboarding dog you spotted on YouTube or maybe even some amazing feat your own pet pulled off).
  • GIVEAWAY CLOSES: Wednesday, September 15th at 8pm EST
  • NUMBER OF WINNERS: One
  • PRIZE SHIPS: Anywhere in the world!
  • USUAL STUFF: One entry per e-mail address is permitted. The winner will be selected using random.org and announced on Thursday. Good luck…

My kitten Fitzwallace has a knack for balancing on practically anything. The top of a chair, the refrigerator door, and the edge of the bathtub are all fair game!

PONY UP! I live in Tallahassee, Florida and right down the road a bit there is a place called “The Painted Pony” that is so much fun! I’ve had my daughters birthday party there before and they have a horse named Charlie who is the sweetest, most gentle white horse…anyway, at the end of the party, all the kids get to “paint” the pony with their handprints and some non-toxic animal and child friendly paint that is super colorful. Charlie is so patient with all of the kids and as a reward, he gets a super great rub down bath when he’s all done. He loves it! :)

I’m amazed with service/therapy dogs. I love the way they make a persons day a little brighter! In fact, my own dog is in training to be a therapy dog! And on the topic of horses, I’m amazed with theray horses too! They have some great programs out there!

Our pitbull rescue stops everything and runs to his crate when we say, “Reilly, go to your room.” It doesn’t sound like much of a trick, but when he’s tearing through our apartment and causing absolute mayhem, it’s incredible to see him stop in his tracks and run to the crate for a “timeout.”

I once saw this dog “play dead” on Letterman. It was so funny because the dog’s owner was holding him at the time and he just went limp. You should check it out on youtube if you have time.

My dog’s best “trick” is knowing the difference between a real cookie and a dog treat. There is no way he will eat a dog treat if you have a cookie that you are eating in the other hand. :)

Oh man, as a former owner of horses I’ve seen a LOT of crazy things. my horse once, while I was cooling him down after a workout, decided he had enough. I had put the reins down so they were sitting on his neck, and he got down on his knees and CRAWLED under the top wire of an electric fence (not sure why we didn’t have the bottom wire up yet)! It happened so fast I didn’t know what hit me until I found myself flat on my back on the ground and had a wicked sore butt! LOL I think I broke my tailbone actually. Horses are awesome. =D

My dog likes to separate her dog food into the soft chewy bits and the hard bits. The hard bits are hidden under the blanket in her crate and she eats the soft ones. It took us a couple of days to figure out this little trick of hers to get us refill her bowl more often (and thus get more of the soft chewy bits).

Growing up we had a potty-trained rabbit that was supposed to be lop-eared. However, it’s ears never completely “lopped” so instead it raced around the house with sticking straight out like airplane wings. No, it was not really a trick, but it sure was amusing!

My parent’s dog (a 14 year old Black Lab/Rotty Mix) is the BEST canine singer that has ever lived. She will sing along to the radio, a fire truck going by, a song on tv, etc. Her favortie song is ‘Happy Birthday’ and I cannot imagine having a birthday without hearing my “little sister” sing to me.

I wish I had the patience to teach my dog more tricks, but he only knows sit and shake. There are two dogs in my neighborhood who walk without leashes and listen extremely well to their owner–stopping, laying down on the sidewalk until we pass and then returning to their walk. It amazes me, my dog can’t even walk without a harness because he chokes himself.

We have a family friend with a large rotweiler. When the husband points his finger like a gun to the dog and says “bang bang” the dog staggers a little then falls to the ground like he’s dead and doesn’t move until the husband tells him to get up. It’s hilarious.
