Fab Freebie: Young Horse Love

***This giveaway is no longer accepting entries***

This week we’re giving away a totally customized painting from a special group of artists. Wanna meet ’em? Allow us to introduce Blitz, Minnow, and Boomer: the artists in residence at Painting Pony. Yes, I said artists.

Ponies Artists

If the paintbrushes in their mouths weren’t proof enough that these Chincoteague Ponies know their way around a canvas (I know, I was a bit skeptical at first too), just check out the colorful artwork they create with the help of their trainer Kyley DiLuigi.

Ponies Painting Collage

Not only do they create one-of-a-kind pieces (with a unique backstory, no less) they also let you add some input about the painting before it’s made, so it’s sure to complement your home. You get to pick the background color and up to four paint colors to be used AND you get to choose which four-legged artist creates it. Kyley also throws in a CD with photos and/or video of it being whipped up.

Ponies Horse To House

If you wanna see these artsy horses in action there’s a video of the painting process (as well as other tricks) on the Painting Pony website. Oh, and be sure to check out their rockstar Dachshund sidekick Ammo. Burger so wants to meet him someday.

Now on to the details for the prize (and stay tuned for another special offer on Thursday):

  • PRIZE: A custom 16″ x 20″ canvas by Painting Pony as described in this Etsy listing.
  • TO ENTER: Comment on this post with the words “PONY UP” and…
  • BONUS QUESTION: …since this week’s prize is all about ponies with amazing tricks up their sleeves, why not tell us about another animal trickster you’ve been wowed by (whether its a skateboarding dog you spotted on YouTube or maybe even some amazing feat your own pet pulled off).
  • GIVEAWAY CLOSES: Wednesday, September 15th at 8pm EST
  • NUMBER OF WINNERS: One
  • PRIZE SHIPS: Anywhere in the world!
  • USUAL STUFF: One entry per e-mail address is permitted. The winner will be selected using random.org and announced on Thursday. Good luck…

Pony Up! I have to give a shout out to the family dog we had while I was growing up named Buster. He was a mutt, but mostly German shepherd, and very kid-tolerant. My sister and I used to play dress up with him. He was quite a knock-out in my mom’s sundress.

One of my dogs growing up, a wired haired fox terrier, used to sprint up the STEEP ladder that you pull down to get to the attic. I used to sit up at the top and she would sprint into my arms. She was our little circus dog!

It’s not really a trick, but I swear one of the blind horses at the rescue I work at can count. I always talk to him so he knows where I am, and when I say “It’s 5 steps to the fence, Charlie”, it is exactly 5 steps!

What a great giveaway – I hope this gets a record number of entries :)

This isn’t really a trick, but more of an identity crisis. We have a cat that acts like a dog. Max plays fetch, greets visitors at the door, and plays chase with our one year old daughter. :-)

I taught my pug how to play hide and seek: one person holds him while the other runs off to hide somewhere. Once hidden, you yell “Burt, YOU’RE IT!” and he wiggles out of the other person’s grasp and skids around the house squeaking and yelping at the top of his lungs, like we’ve confiscated his toy collection or something. He always finds you… and, naturally, sits and expects a large treat.

I would LOVE to have this! I’ve always wanted one of the ones done by ex-racehorses for charity, but I haven’t had the money just hanging around.

This may have been posted already (LOTS of comments!) but I love the videos I’ve seen online of the rabbit jumping competitions. They’re so cool!

Growing up, I had a German Shepherd that could open doors. The front door, the bedroom doors and the car door! He used his nose to lift handles and his mouth to turn door knobs. He also used to let me climb on his back and ride him like a pony! I’ve had plenty of dogs since him but none that were as loving, loyal and so gosh dang smart! Animals don’t get enough credit for their clever tricks!

My 1.5 yr old, 10lb miniature dachshund figured out how to climb up on top of our pub height, dining room table! He jumps on top of the center table support, then crawls onto one of the chairs and hops onto the table. I discovered this after frantically searching for him one day (looking on the floor of course) and saw something move out of the corner of my eye. There he was wagging his tail, watching me search for him and giving me the “look at what I learned!” face. Needless to say, I wasn’t mad!

To some this may not be amazing but I love when my little Cairn Terrier Motley sits upright in front of the tv and watches whatever is on. One of his favorite things to see is horses oddly enough.

Have ya’ll seen that video of the orangutan and dog that befriend each other? The organgutan is at some nature preserve, and somehow a stray dog made its way into the preserve and the two struck up an incredible bond. The orangutan takes the dog on walks, and they just hug and love each other…it’s possibly the cutest thing I’ve ever seen. I’m pretty impressed with both the organutan and the dog.

You’ve made my day by sharing these ponies! I’m making a list of Christmas presents by them.

Our 18 pound orange tabby (god rest his soul) would open the kitchen cabinet that contained his food and go inside the cabinet to eat. That was cute, but what was hillarious was watching our black Lab trying to figure it out and get in to the cat food, too.

PONY UP … We always like to watch the elephant who paints at the Ringling Brothers Circus “pre-show”. In fact, my daughter won the drawing for the finished painting one year! She has it hanging in her room (but … don’t tell the elephant … the ponies are MUCH better painters!!!!).

My cat (KC) was not the happiest when we brought home our little boy from the hospital as she was no longer the full center of attention. So as our little boy became more vocal, so did KC. They both now say “MOMMY”. She used to do just a simple “MEOW”, but has now changed her tone. CRAZY cat!

This is special to me. My mom has the artwork of one of these fellas in her house already!

I grew up with horses & they are the greatest animals ever. We had one horse that used to love brownies & ham sandwiches. He would drink beer & breathe deeply if someone were smoking around him! His name was George – one of the coolest horses ever!

My dog, Oreo, can open his own dog house door. It’s not a crate, like normal dog houses. It’s a custom made dog house my husband designed that has a plexiglass door with a latch and our dog claws it and opens it up. So cute to see. I’ll send you the video of it.
