Fab Freebie: Young Horse Love

***This giveaway is no longer accepting entries***

This week we’re giving away a totally customized painting from a special group of artists. Wanna meet ’em? Allow us to introduce Blitz, Minnow, and Boomer: the artists in residence at Painting Pony. Yes, I said artists.

Ponies Artists

If the paintbrushes in their mouths weren’t proof enough that these Chincoteague Ponies know their way around a canvas (I know, I was a bit skeptical at first too), just check out the colorful artwork they create with the help of their trainer Kyley DiLuigi.

Ponies Painting Collage

Not only do they create one-of-a-kind pieces (with a unique backstory, no less) they also let you add some input about the painting before it’s made, so it’s sure to complement your home. You get to pick the background color and up to four paint colors to be used AND you get to choose which four-legged artist creates it. Kyley also throws in a CD with photos and/or video of it being whipped up.

Ponies Horse To House

If you wanna see these artsy horses in action there’s a video of the painting process (as well as other tricks) on the Painting Pony website. Oh, and be sure to check out their rockstar Dachshund sidekick Ammo. Burger so wants to meet him someday.

Now on to the details for the prize (and stay tuned for another special offer on Thursday):

  • PRIZE: A custom 16″ x 20″ canvas by Painting Pony as described in this Etsy listing.
  • TO ENTER: Comment on this post with the words “PONY UP” and…
  • BONUS QUESTION: …since this week’s prize is all about ponies with amazing tricks up their sleeves, why not tell us about another animal trickster you’ve been wowed by (whether its a skateboarding dog you spotted on YouTube or maybe even some amazing feat your own pet pulled off).
  • GIVEAWAY CLOSES: Wednesday, September 15th at 8pm EST
  • NUMBER OF WINNERS: One
  • PRIZE SHIPS: Anywhere in the world!
  • USUAL STUFF: One entry per e-mail address is permitted. The winner will be selected using random.org and announced on Thursday. Good luck…

My husband and I taught our pug how to high-five. After he tapped his paw to our hand, he’d get a snack. We did this over and over and over until he got the trick. Then the next morning I woke up to the feeling of something tapping my hand. Tap… Tap… Tap… He was trying to high-five me for breakfast!

Pony Up! I would say these ponies are a pretty amazing animal trick, although once I watched a pig put a mini-basketball into a mini hoop with it’s snout. I thought that was pretty great!

PONY UP! Our little Boston Terrier/Maltese, Bean, is the trickiest trickster I know. For example: he’s currently pretending to chew on his squirrel friend, but as soon as I turn away, he’s eating the carpet. FAKE OUT. He also does back flips, dances on his back legs, jumps four feet in the air in the name of tennis balls, and rides on the backs of larger dogs. Yeah. What. Up. Now.

Hmm, we did teach our dog to hold a bone on her nose, and then when we give the signal, she will flip it up and catch it in her mouth. Knowing how she loves bones, just seeing her hold it on her nose (drooling of course) is impressive to me!

Quite the talented littlest ponies. I would love to have to one of their artpieces in my house, in good ol’ ontario, canada.

Our dog, Odie, boson terrier/french bulldog, is not exactly the best trained dog, but he has managed to be able to do quite a few convential tricks, maybe not the most outrageous of tricks, “give me ten”, he sits, and raises both paws and paws you ten! Or say a “pray”, both paws cross over, in sign of prayer, and rollover. Even though they might not be the most outrageous, he’s still our lovable baby, and it’s soo cute and enjoyable for us to see him do these little bits, for us.

I’ll “Pony Up” with an amazing animal feat. I can’t forget the story of Oscar, a nursing home feline who had the uncanny ability to predict the impending death of nursing home residents. He would curl up with someone in their final hours, offering comfort and warmth. Read the story here: http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/19959718/

My friends poodle mix does the ‘Meercat’. He will only do it though, if he is standing in your lap, so you have to call him over, give the command, and he sits up tall on his hind legs and his front paws dangle. It is so terribly cute, especially since he isn’t much bigger than a meercat anyway!
