Fab Freebie: Young Horse Love

***This giveaway is no longer accepting entries***

This week we’re giving away a totally customized painting from a special group of artists. Wanna meet ’em? Allow us to introduce Blitz, Minnow, and Boomer: the artists in residence at Painting Pony. Yes, I said artists.

Ponies Artists

If the paintbrushes in their mouths weren’t proof enough that these Chincoteague Ponies know their way around a canvas (I know, I was a bit skeptical at first too), just check out the colorful artwork they create with the help of their trainer Kyley DiLuigi.

Ponies Painting Collage

Not only do they create one-of-a-kind pieces (with a unique backstory, no less) they also let you add some input about the painting before it’s made, so it’s sure to complement your home. You get to pick the background color and up to four paint colors to be used AND you get to choose which four-legged artist creates it. Kyley also throws in a CD with photos and/or video of it being whipped up.

Ponies Horse To House

If you wanna see these artsy horses in action there’s a video of the painting process (as well as other tricks) on the Painting Pony website. Oh, and be sure to check out their rockstar Dachshund sidekick Ammo. Burger so wants to meet him someday.

Now on to the details for the prize (and stay tuned for another special offer on Thursday):

  • PRIZE: A custom 16″ x 20″ canvas by Painting Pony as described in this Etsy listing.
  • TO ENTER: Comment on this post with the words “PONY UP” and…
  • BONUS QUESTION: …since this week’s prize is all about ponies with amazing tricks up their sleeves, why not tell us about another animal trickster you’ve been wowed by (whether its a skateboarding dog you spotted on YouTube or maybe even some amazing feat your own pet pulled off).
  • GIVEAWAY CLOSES: Wednesday, September 15th at 8pm EST
  • NUMBER OF WINNERS: One
  • PRIZE SHIPS: Anywhere in the world!
  • USUAL STUFF: One entry per e-mail address is permitted. The winner will be selected using random.org and announced on Thursday. Good luck…

My weenie dog does no tricks. When I was attempting to housebreak her, I would take her little paw and ring a bell I nailed by the door every time we went outside. I was hoping she would learn to ring the bell when she needed to “excuse herself”. It never caught on, so she essentially “trained” me into knowing when she needs to go.

PONY UP! Our dog knows only one trick: high five. When we ask him to give high five and hold up our hand, he jumps up and smacks his paw against it. Mind you, he doesn’t know how to do anything else. Not sit, not stay, not lie down, shake, come, go…nothing. The only thing that would ever stick is “high five”. We love him anyway :)

my favorite animal trick is done by my friends dog. she gets the dog to sit, and she turns her back to him. she wheels around and points her finger at him like it’s a gun and he falls over into a pile on the floor. it never gets old.

PONY UP…I think the most amazing thing is that my dog has trained us to use reverse psychology to get him to do things. We open the back door and call him and he won’t come. He only comes after you shut the door!

PONY UP. I guess when you are wearing 4 horse-shoes, lady luck is on your side and nothing is impossible! How many sugar cubes would I give for one of these…! My cat, Moses, has a knack for getting his kitty paw prints down in paint when ever a paint tin is open, I should whip out a canvas next time for him!

PONY UP! I’d have to say that while other people may be wowed by trained animals and spectacular live shows, I’m mostly amazed by my own dog, Reese. My favorite story to tell is about the time that Reese managed to pull a twice-baked potato straight out of the pan, right after it came out of the 400 degree oven. I’d no sooner taken the pan out of the oven to cool and walked around the corner, when I heard a noise in the kitchen. Sure enough, as I ran back around the corner, there was one single potato missing. He’d put his paws on the counter, grabbed the edge of the potato skin with his teeth and pulled it out–clean. There wasn’t a single bit of potato or corn ANYWHERE. Add to that the fact that he’d swallowed it at about 400 degrees, without getting sick or hurting himself. It was amazing.

Pony Up! So, it’s not really a trick but my cat likes to wriggle herself into empty 12 pack soda boxes. It’s pretty hilarious to watch her maneuver herself in butt first especially because she’s not exactly tiny. As good as she is getting in, she isn’t so great at getting herself out and we usually have to rescue her.

My cat Henry hates being alone. When we first adopted him, we kept him in the basement with the pocket door closed. After he learned how to open the door, we bought a lock for it. Somehow he kept getting upstairs. We couldn’t figure it out until we heard meows coming from the bathroom when the door was closed – he had figured out how to climb through the ceiling of the basement (entry point: the furnace room) and up through the old (closed) laundry shoot. We now have it covered with a large wooden board AND a 25 pound weight. My cat is nothing, if not persistent! :)

First, I wanna say that I a love your site…I check in everyday. :)

Ok..a few weeks ago someone posted a youtube video on Facebook that I had to repost (I’m not one to repost much of anything.) But it was the sweetest thing. This dog owner had a crate full of new puppies (must have been bulldog puppies or something). Anyway, the puppies were CUTE. So he said to them, “its time to go to sleep” and started singing “Goodnight Sweetheart, well it’s time to go…” and one by one the yelps subsided, the nuzzled around, found a comfy place and all went to sleep within the few minutes of his diddy. I was AMAZED!! How did he train puppies to do that?
