Fab Freebie: Young Horse Love

***This giveaway is no longer accepting entries***

This week we’re giving away a totally customized painting from a special group of artists. Wanna meet ’em? Allow us to introduce Blitz, Minnow, and Boomer: the artists in residence at Painting Pony. Yes, I said artists.

Ponies Artists

If the paintbrushes in their mouths weren’t proof enough that these Chincoteague Ponies know their way around a canvas (I know, I was a bit skeptical at first too), just check out the colorful artwork they create with the help of their trainer Kyley DiLuigi.

Ponies Painting Collage

Not only do they create one-of-a-kind pieces (with a unique backstory, no less) they also let you add some input about the painting before it’s made, so it’s sure to complement your home. You get to pick the background color and up to four paint colors to be used AND you get to choose which four-legged artist creates it. Kyley also throws in a CD with photos and/or video of it being whipped up.

Ponies Horse To House

If you wanna see these artsy horses in action there’s a video of the painting process (as well as other tricks) on the Painting Pony website. Oh, and be sure to check out their rockstar Dachshund sidekick Ammo. Burger so wants to meet him someday.

Now on to the details for the prize (and stay tuned for another special offer on Thursday):

  • PRIZE: A custom 16″ x 20″ canvas by Painting Pony as described in this Etsy listing.
  • TO ENTER: Comment on this post with the words “PONY UP” and…
  • BONUS QUESTION: …since this week’s prize is all about ponies with amazing tricks up their sleeves, why not tell us about another animal trickster you’ve been wowed by (whether its a skateboarding dog you spotted on YouTube or maybe even some amazing feat your own pet pulled off).
  • GIVEAWAY CLOSES: Wednesday, September 15th at 8pm EST
  • NUMBER OF WINNERS: One
  • PRIZE SHIPS: Anywhere in the world!
  • USUAL STUFF: One entry per e-mail address is permitted. The winner will be selected using random.org and announced on Thursday. Good luck…

There’s a book called Why Cats Paint that I found fascinating. I saw it a long time ago, but if I remember correctly there was one cat that would paint abstracts that were very similar in composition and color to whatever she was painting by, like a garden.

My kitten, April, does something I have never seen a cat do before: Jump crazy high and turn off the light switch in the living room! To be honest, I think she does it for attention, haha. Because what usually happens is she’ll turn off the light, I’ll get up and turn it back on and then when I’m seated at the computer, on the couch, etc. she’ll turn off the light again. It’s annoying, but cute. :)

PONY UP!!! I absolutely LOVE this! I’ve grown up with animals my entire life (mom was a vet tech). We took in every animal needing help we encountered- from cats & dogs to chinchilla, reptiles, birds, & fish. Right now, my husband (*newlyweds*) & I started our little family with 2 amazing bengal kittens.. (google “bengal kitten,” they’re amazing looking!). We consider them rescue kitties b/c the breeder had way too many cats & they were in bad shape. Now, they are our kids! :) Donovan (Donny) & Penelope (Penny) are 5 mths old now & do complete backflips 2ft in the air when we play with them. They really are like little leopards, but are soo loving & have a great personality! :)

I’ve always been fascinated by the ability to toilet train cats lol. I was a psychology major in college so I had to take a course called basic learning, and some of my classmates were able to toilet train their cats by the end of the semester by using the principles we learned. I’m not sure I’d have the patience though lol.

Pony up – this brought a smile to our face. Our cat likes to go in one door, walk through the house and out the other door. Our “trick” is that we have given the “job” of opening and shutting the doors for the cat to our 5-year-old!

Our newish puppy, Jax, learns very quickly. He figured out the doggy door within 5 minutes of him being home, loves playing soccer (and tires out neighborhood kids quickly!) and loves having a job. We’ll have him hold something in his mouth to give to someone in another room where he’ll get something from them to bring back with him.

I certainly need a pony painting in my home! It would be the best conversation piece EVER!

As an owner of a dachshund who wants to play ball non-stop, I became smitten by a video of ‘Jerry the Dog’ on YouTube. His owner built him the most incredible ball machine that Jerry has learned to use…..all…day…long. It’s hilarious and worth a watch. I love that the machine has a built in ‘throw counter.’

Our pug gives fives and sits on command…that’s about it. He does knows several words, too- “walk, bath, supper, hungry, toy, treat, outside, who’s here?, what’s mom doin’?, where’s dad?, let’s go to your cage”, etc. When I leave for work and get to the door….my husband always says, “Mom’s going bye-bye!” and he runs to me, stands up against my legs, and I bend down and he gives me kisses. ;) That’s my fave! His biggest trick is just being irresistibly cute!

My cat goes with us when we walk the dogs. She comes along the whole way, sometimes a couple of miles. We get a lot of attention for it, much to my just-woken-up chagrin. People even stop their cars to ask about it…it’s kind of like being a celebrity, except in my pajamas with sheet-marks on my face.

“Pony UP” Great giveaway, Thank you!!
We have four dogs, three are rescue’s. Freddy, our third rescue is a Border Collie/Collie. It may not be a trick, but instead of hearding sheep, he heards us. If one of the girls is sad and crying he comes to see if he can help and then keeps all of the other dogs away until he is sure that we have cared for our daughters. We are so blessed to have these animals in our life. We also have a rescued cat and a fish rescued from the county fair four years ago.

    Always, Teresa

And then my mom’s cats they’re pretty interesting too. One plays fetch, one gives kisses, and the other one will file her own nails if you hold an emery board for her.

We had a rooster called Peter. After a lot of noise one night, dad went to the chook-house…to see all the chooks on the floor…a fox had been. Dad thought they were all dead. Then…Peter the rooster jumped up, looked around, crowed twice…and all the chickens jumped up (only one didn’t). They were playing dead! What a leader.
