Fab Freebie: Young Horse Love

***This giveaway is no longer accepting entries***

This week we’re giving away a totally customized painting from a special group of artists. Wanna meet ’em? Allow us to introduce Blitz, Minnow, and Boomer: the artists in residence at Painting Pony. Yes, I said artists.

Ponies Artists

If the paintbrushes in their mouths weren’t proof enough that these Chincoteague Ponies know their way around a canvas (I know, I was a bit skeptical at first too), just check out the colorful artwork they create with the help of their trainer Kyley DiLuigi.

Ponies Painting Collage

Not only do they create one-of-a-kind pieces (with a unique backstory, no less) they also let you add some input about the painting before it’s made, so it’s sure to complement your home. You get to pick the background color and up to four paint colors to be used AND you get to choose which four-legged artist creates it. Kyley also throws in a CD with photos and/or video of it being whipped up.

Ponies Horse To House

If you wanna see these artsy horses in action there’s a video of the painting process (as well as other tricks) on the Painting Pony website. Oh, and be sure to check out their rockstar Dachshund sidekick Ammo. Burger so wants to meet him someday.

Now on to the details for the prize (and stay tuned for another special offer on Thursday):

  • PRIZE: A custom 16″ x 20″ canvas by Painting Pony as described in this Etsy listing.
  • TO ENTER: Comment on this post with the words “PONY UP” and…
  • BONUS QUESTION: …since this week’s prize is all about ponies with amazing tricks up their sleeves, why not tell us about another animal trickster you’ve been wowed by (whether its a skateboarding dog you spotted on YouTube or maybe even some amazing feat your own pet pulled off).
  • GIVEAWAY CLOSES: Wednesday, September 15th at 8pm EST
  • NUMBER OF WINNERS: One
  • PRIZE SHIPS: Anywhere in the world!
  • USUAL STUFF: One entry per e-mail address is permitted. The winner will be selected using random.org and announced on Thursday. Good luck…

    PONY UP!

There was a dog on tv that, when the owner said “Play Dead”, would go completely limp. The owner would pick up the dog’s paw and drop it like a ton of bricks. He would then say “Come Alive” and the dog would instantly wake up. He did it several times and each time was just as funny as the first!

Oh, and my cat (who has a crackout session every night of running from one end of my house to the other for no apparent reason) caught a bird. In my kitchen. We have a lanai that was Ange’s (my cat’s) “room”. We would leave the door open for him to come in and out. Somehow a bird got in, and Ange decided they were best friends. The bird freaked out, flew low into the house and my angel decided to pounce–literally. I have never seen him move so fast! Luckily the bird survived to tell the tale.

I know this is long, but I thought it was awesome, so I had to share. Enjoy!

Absolutely love the youtube clip where the family films the backyard hoping to catch the neighbor kids who they suspect are using their pool… only to find it is their dog that climbs up the slide and crashes into the pool over and over again!

    Pony up! Yeeehaw!

I have two beagles named Hunter and Huxley. About 5 years ago, Hunter had surgery and became very sick with an infection. He was so sick he wouldn’t even get off the couch to go eat. One morning, I put food in Huxley’s bowl and went to blow dry my hair. When I came back, Huxley had pushed his bowl all the way from the kitchen into the living room and it is was sitting FULL right in front of my sick puppy, Hunter. Huxley just laid there at the foot of the couch looking at the food and whining. Anyone who has beagles knows how AMAZING it is a for a beagle to give up food! It was so adorable…

Sadly my dog refuses to do tricks. I tried to teach her fetch but she just gives a look that says ‘You threw it, you go get it.’ When I tried to teach her to roll over and play dead she turned her back to me because parlor tricks are beneath her. For a mutt she’s a bit on the snobby side.

PONY UP!!!! LOVE the painting ponies – my daughter loves ponies and I’m an art teacher, so this is perfect for us! Always a good “Is this art?” discussion in class. I’ve really enjoyed the painting elephant that Ringling Brothers circus has before their shows, but I’ve never won one of those paintings either. Still, fun!

PONY UP! My favorite pet “trick” isn’t really a trick. It’s that lion, Christian, who remembered his human parents even after being released back into the wild for years. It makes me happy every time I watch the video. Also there’s the elephant Tara and the dog Bella who are best friends and go everywhere together. In the CBS special they show how Tara waited outside Bella’s room for weeks and weeks when Bella was sick. If you don’t know what I’m talking about, look it up. Both of those stories will make you cry. Animals are the best.

Pony up! I saw two impressive animal performances at Mallory Square in Key West this summer: a dog, accompanied by a guitar-strumming human, who would collect dollar bills from the audience in his mouth then deposit them in the tip jar, and a group of cats who had been trained to walk a tightrope and jump through a ring of fire. It was amazing!

How incredibly cool are these horses? OMG!

I have 2 cats that live with my husband’s parents now (more space and they can go outside), and one of them was missing for 6 days recently. They found him INSIDE the minivan they rarely use after he crawled inside while they were unloading wood/shop tools/etc (they never saw him get in). He was hungry, thirsty, and a few lbs less, but thankfully ok! I was WOWed that he was OK!

I took my toddler to look at the puppies and kittens in a local pet shop. They had a video playing, advertising an alternative to kitty litter. I could barely take my eyes off the cat that jumped up and squatted over the toilet to do its business. Unbelievable..I thought that only happened in movies!

My favorite isn’t really a trick so much as goofy animal behavior but there’s a video on youtube of a corgi whose owners are trying to get him to fetch by throwing his toy into a lake and the corgi (in his little life jacket, no less) runs to the edge of the dock, pauses, and belly flops off with his little back legs sticking out behind him. Cracks me up every time :)

OK, this may not sound that amazing to some, but I remember being at the zoo when I was younger and seeing a monkey with her new baby. She started swinging from the vines and the newborn monkey just wrapped itself around mama and held on like it was nothing. Pretty sure human babies can’t do that. :) PONY UP!
