Fab Freebie: Young Horse Love

***This giveaway is no longer accepting entries***

This week we’re giving away a totally customized painting from a special group of artists. Wanna meet ’em? Allow us to introduce Blitz, Minnow, and Boomer: the artists in residence at Painting Pony. Yes, I said artists.

Ponies Artists

If the paintbrushes in their mouths weren’t proof enough that these Chincoteague Ponies know their way around a canvas (I know, I was a bit skeptical at first too), just check out the colorful artwork they create with the help of their trainer Kyley DiLuigi.

Ponies Painting Collage

Not only do they create one-of-a-kind pieces (with a unique backstory, no less) they also let you add some input about the painting before it’s made, so it’s sure to complement your home. You get to pick the background color and up to four paint colors to be used AND you get to choose which four-legged artist creates it. Kyley also throws in a CD with photos and/or video of it being whipped up.

Ponies Horse To House

If you wanna see these artsy horses in action there’s a video of the painting process (as well as other tricks) on the Painting Pony website. Oh, and be sure to check out their rockstar Dachshund sidekick Ammo. Burger so wants to meet him someday.

Now on to the details for the prize (and stay tuned for another special offer on Thursday):

  • PRIZE: A custom 16″ x 20″ canvas by Painting Pony as described in this Etsy listing.
  • TO ENTER: Comment on this post with the words “PONY UP” and…
  • BONUS QUESTION: …since this week’s prize is all about ponies with amazing tricks up their sleeves, why not tell us about another animal trickster you’ve been wowed by (whether its a skateboarding dog you spotted on YouTube or maybe even some amazing feat your own pet pulled off).
  • GIVEAWAY CLOSES: Wednesday, September 15th at 8pm EST
  • NUMBER OF WINNERS: One
  • PRIZE SHIPS: Anywhere in the world!
  • USUAL STUFF: One entry per e-mail address is permitted. The winner will be selected using random.org and announced on Thursday. Good luck…

Pony Up! I had a dog that you could shoot your hand like a gun at her and she would drop to the floor and play dead with all fours in the air. Oh and she could sing the entire score of The Sound of Music. Okay that last one, not really. But the playing dead part is real.

I am impressed not only by the beautiful horses who draw these works of art, but but a dog rescued by the name of Oogie. He was a dog who’s face and body were basically ruined by dogfighting, but was saved and healed by a nice man with a loving family. Youtube it!! Have tissues ready!

    “Pony Up!”

Do homo sapiens count as animals? My husband does the most amazing things with his hands like making his knuckles go left and right while his hands are in a fist, makes the tops of his fingers super bouncy like jello, and other weird things. Kids love him when he does these things! I have always been amazed. (I hope he doesn’t read this)haha

We used to have a cat and a toy, and this toy made the cat do back flips. Literally. The toy was one of those ball-on-a-rubber-band kind of thing that you hook around your wrist. You throw it, and catch it when it comes back to you. We’d throw it over kitty’s head, and as it was coming back to us, she’d just follow it – right over. Over and over and over. Very entertaining.

My cat has this amazing talent of only listening to me, not my boyfriend. It’s hilarious as he’ll be madly chasing the cat around the yard, trying to get him inside. I then go to the door and yell “Timmyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy” and the cat comes running. I love it ;-)

Its also very scary though and not fun when I am running down the street at 7am in my nightie calling for him and asking all the businessmen on their way to work whether they have seen him with tears streaming down my face :P

Oh man, I don’t think I’ve ever wanted to win one of your contests as much as I want to win this one! I never out grew my horse crazy phase and I LOVED the Misty books (and everything else that Marguerite Henry wrote). But anyhow. We trained our dog to wait in his bed while we put his meal into a Buster cube, and then hide it. Then he goes and finds it and rolls it around to get his dinner out!

I had a cat who loved being my office accessory. No matter how much I tried to move her around my desk, she had to be draped over the keyboard or over whatever paperwork I was trying to finish up. I though it was annoying then, but I miss it (and her) now.

When I was a kid, the family cat, Isabelle (she was an unusual Siamese mix with 6 claws on each front paw) sorted laundry. She would go up to the third floor laundry room in the house, grab clean white underwear and socks (only ever clean, only ever white) and drag them down the stairs. She would leave the items strewn around the house. We have no idea how or why she did this. I’m not sure it was a skill, but it was certainly always amusing to come home at the end of the day to find the house covered with random clean whites.
