This week we’re giving away a totally customized painting from a special group of artists. Wanna meet ’em? Allow us to introduce Blitz, Minnow, and Boomer: the artists in residence at Painting Pony. Yes, I said artists.
If the paintbrushes in their mouths weren’t proof enough that these Chincoteague Ponies know their way around a canvas (I know, I was a bit skeptical at first too), just check out the colorful artwork they create with the help of their trainer Kyley DiLuigi.
Not only do they create one-of-a-kind pieces (with a unique backstory, no less) they also let you add some input about the painting before it’s made, so it’s sure to complement your home. You get to pick the background color and up to four paint colors to be used AND you get to choose which four-legged artist creates it. Kyley also throws in a CD with photos and/or video of it being whipped up.
If you wanna see these artsy horses in action there’s a video of the painting process (as well as other tricks) on the Painting Pony website. Oh, and be sure to check out their rockstar Dachshund sidekick Ammo. Burger so wants to meet him someday.
Now on to the details for the prize (and stay tuned for another special offer on Thursday):
- PRIZE: A custom 16″ x 20″ canvas by Painting Pony as described in this Etsy listing.
- TO ENTER: Comment on this post with the words “PONY UP” and…
- BONUS QUESTION: …since this week’s prize is all about ponies with amazing tricks up their sleeves, why not tell us about another animal trickster you’ve been wowed by (whether its a skateboarding dog you spotted on YouTube or maybe even some amazing feat your own pet pulled off).
- GIVEAWAY CLOSES: Wednesday, September 15th at 8pm EST
- NUMBER OF WINNERS: One
- PRIZE SHIPS: Anywhere in the world!
- USUAL STUFF: One entry per e-mail address is permitted. The winner will be selected using random.org and announced on Thursday. Good luck…

PONY UP!
We used to have a dog who sang when you played the harmonica. She was so much fun when we were little!
PONY UP!
I have a bulldog and have tried to teach him to skateboard like those bulldogs on TV, but he just wants to carry the skateboard around in his mouth…and it’s not light!
Pony Up!
I can only speak to my own dog’s talents. Benji has extreme gas, and he likes to throw up when we have company over.
PONY UP
My dog can play dead with the best of them! :)
PONY UP!
My cat rolls over when you say “Are you so cute?”
Pony up!
Our two pugs have one good trick…jumping OVER the baby gate (installed to keep them out of the rest of the house while we’re at work…)
PONY UP
My friends cat running crazy around the house in the middle of the night ended up walking down the hall on her hind legs only.

Have you ever seen chincoteague minnows trick routine? It’s amazing. he has a whole list of tricks.

We have a disappearing fish. Their twins that we named Hou and Dini. Get it? Hou-Dini. Not knowing that one of them did have majical powers. Well now Dini is gone, and we can not find him anywhere. And the other fish did not looked bloated. Apparently their names fit them more than we realized.
PONY UP!!!
My uncles dog is well trained, if you look at him with your hand like a gun and say, “BANG” he will fall to the ground, and if you say “your not dead your just wounded” he will start to pull himself across the ground. So cute!
Although I love my Scotties and Dachshunds, it’s my beta fish who is the smart one in my family of pets! I have him in my office at home to “keep my company” while I’m working! I started hearing a faint clinking noise throughout the day and after about a week I realized it was my fish! He clinks on the side of the bowl to get my attention when he is hungry! Once he is fed, he doesn’t clink again until the next day!

I was pretty amazed that Baxter was able to speak Spanish
Kathy and I really need to Pony Up our walls.
We’ve been fans ever since we saw Minnow perform a painting at Iron Horse.
PONY UP!
I love the dog that only has 2 legs and walks around upright. It’s amazing!
PONY UP! Our maltese runs and grabs her leash when you ask if she wants to go outside.
I forgot the “Pony Up” so I’m reposting — Duh.

My boyfriend’s sister’s cat seems to know that he is allergic. She always seems to find his suitcase or sneak into our room (door is kept closed) when we visit …
PONY UP!
My favorite is the water-skiing squirrel!!
pony up. just youtube “dancing merengue dog”. ’nuff said.
Pony Up!
My dog gives a good high five, but my friends dogs will slap you ten, which is pretty awesome!
“PONY UP”
They are too cute!

PONY UP!!
My parents have a redbone hound that howls every time he hears a siren, and he replicates the siren sound to a T!!
PONY UP!
We just saw a show on animal planet about a lab named Todd that swam 6 miles in the ocean to find his owner!! Incredible.
PONY UP!
My cat sleeps on his back with all paws up…not really a trick, though.
PONY UP!!!
I taught my mom’s dog MoJo roll on his side and lay still when he hears the word bang. So now all you have to do is walk into the room and say “bang” and you will find a puppy playing dead somewhere in the room!
Pony up! My sister in law’s Golden Retriever sings along to Happy Birthday… but he’ll only sing to that song!! He howls along, wagging his tail like crazy.
PONY UP!
All my pets seem to have some talent! But one of my favorites was a dog who would “sing” to the Andy Griffith show theme song. It was so pretty! LOL
PONY UP!
My dog is like Houdini – he can escape any crate! He can also high five. Love him :)
Pony up!
I know a guy who thinks his dog talks to him in like human talk.
Pony up!
Although he doesn’t do any amazing feats, I’m awed every day by my pit bull mix named Remy. He came from an abusive/neglectful home, and he’s still the most loving, trusting dog I’ve ever met. And he’s so great with my 19-month-old son.
PONY UP!
My family owned a pot belly pig growing up. He was such a smart little guy. He knew how to turn in a circle, sit, and he would often bark like our dog!
PONY UP!
PONY UP!
My dog is part human. I swear.
Pony up!
My dog only knows one trick, but it’s a great one. She gives good hugs.
PONY UP!
No pets for me, but my friends dog sits on her hind legs, puts her front paws together and prays.
PONY UP!
Amazing. I’d love an equestrian masterpiece.
Makes me think again about putting paint on my cat’s paws and putting down some canvas for her to “paint”.
PONY UP!
We adopted our first beagle, Mocha, when she was three years old and were stunned the first time we pulled a biscuit out of the jar and she spun around on her back legs to ‘dance’. She came ‘pre-loaded’ with tricks!
Pony up – and don’t you think this would be the perfect conversation piece for a home containing a little girl who loves horses??? Awesome!
Talented pets? I was going to train our dog to do tricks, but my family boycotted it. Every time I dangled a treat and gave a command, they’d throw a different treat at him, effort-free. *rolls eyes* :)
PONY UP!
The love of my (animal) life was my Thoroughbred, Susie- she had lots of trick that only a mother could love :)

PONY UP!
I don’t have any youtube videos however my younger sister was obsessed with horses (and ponies) growing up and actually got my parents to buy her a couple… the benefits of being the youngest I assume. Anyways, when she wasn’t at her real barn riding her real horses she would dress up our Labrador as a horse. She would make a saddle, harness, ankle socks etc out of paper for Bonnie our dog and make her jump over railing and respond to commands such as YAAAA!
In short, we should have videoed it and slammed it up on YouTube.
Pony Up! Those ponies are just fantastic. I’m so bad at getting my pets to do ANYTHING that I’m amazed to see even the simplest of tricks, like fetching on command. :)
PONY UP!
What an awesome giveaway! Our dog Jack has several tricks up his sleeve. He can do the usual sit, lay down, roll over, etc.
But our favorite…. he “praises the Lord” before he gets any treats by standing up on his hind legs and waving his front legs in the air! :) What a cutie…

We acquired our dog, Lucy, later in her life but she still had enough energy (and patience) to hunt down and kill five gophers when we lived in California.
PONY UP!!
My uncles dog will “sing” (i.e. howl loudly) when they play the piano. It makes me laugh.
