Fab Freebie: Young Horse Love

***This giveaway is no longer accepting entries***

This week we’re giving away a totally customized painting from a special group of artists. Wanna meet ’em? Allow us to introduce Blitz, Minnow, and Boomer: the artists in residence at Painting Pony. Yes, I said artists.

Ponies Artists

If the paintbrushes in their mouths weren’t proof enough that these Chincoteague Ponies know their way around a canvas (I know, I was a bit skeptical at first too), just check out the colorful artwork they create with the help of their trainer Kyley DiLuigi.

Ponies Painting Collage

Not only do they create one-of-a-kind pieces (with a unique backstory, no less) they also let you add some input about the painting before it’s made, so it’s sure to complement your home. You get to pick the background color and up to four paint colors to be used AND you get to choose which four-legged artist creates it. Kyley also throws in a CD with photos and/or video of it being whipped up.

Ponies Horse To House

If you wanna see these artsy horses in action there’s a video of the painting process (as well as other tricks) on the Painting Pony website. Oh, and be sure to check out their rockstar Dachshund sidekick Ammo. Burger so wants to meet him someday.

Now on to the details for the prize (and stay tuned for another special offer on Thursday):

  • PRIZE: A custom 16″ x 20″ canvas by Painting Pony as described in this Etsy listing.
  • TO ENTER: Comment on this post with the words “PONY UP” and…
  • BONUS QUESTION: …since this week’s prize is all about ponies with amazing tricks up their sleeves, why not tell us about another animal trickster you’ve been wowed by (whether its a skateboarding dog you spotted on YouTube or maybe even some amazing feat your own pet pulled off).
  • GIVEAWAY CLOSES: Wednesday, September 15th at 8pm EST
  • NUMBER OF WINNERS: One
  • PRIZE SHIPS: Anywhere in the world!
  • USUAL STUFF: One entry per e-mail address is permitted. The winner will be selected using random.org and announced on Thursday. Good luck…

PONY UP! I loved the accordion-playing dog on America’s Got Talent. The poor thing had an equipment malfunction on the live show. I felt so sorry for him!

We’ve been teaching our dog Lucy to “clean up” after herself by picking up toys with her mouth and dropping them in her toy bin. She’s getting pretty good at it too!

While not as impressive as an artistic horse, my kitten has certainly blown me away with his athletic feats. He can literally CLIMB the walls, he has learned how to pull open bifold doors, even with a dining chair pushed up against them, and he has a knack for finding anything that might seem edible. It’s a little hard to be frustrated at those things when he cuddles up in my lap for a nap, though…

my old cat would play “soccer” around the house. you could throw anything round to him and he would go back and forth with it. and was so in to it that he would end up running into anything in his way. it was quite entertaining :)

One of my favorite tricks is when my cat Tonks (named after Nymphadora Tonks from the Harry Potter series because of her clumsiness and the fact that we can always hear her coming) brings me her red catnip mouse and drops it at my feet so that I will play fetch with her. Yes, my cat plays fetch. I throw that mousie and she chases after it, picks it up in her mouth, and carries it back to me.

Very cute indeed—maybe I will try to get it on video soon.

PONY UP! It’s not technically a trick, but every time we give our Bichon, Bella, a new stuffed animal to play with, she immediately goes for the eyes. She’ll bite, pull, tug, and claw at the animal until she finally removes the little plastic eyes. It took me a while before I realized the little plastic black things I was finding around the house were the eyes to various stuffed animals. Now, my son’s stuffed animals don’t have eyes either. I hope he won’t be permanently scared!

    PONY UP!

I need some of this art! My favorite animal tricks came from my “pony”, my horse/best friend growing up, Ginger. Every day when my bus dropped me off 1.5 miles down the road, Ginger would wait patiently for me to (finally) come up the driveway. We had a long gravel drive & she’d walk along the fenceline next to me all the way up.
If that wasn’t enough, she learned that if she stood under the apple tree, grabbed a branch with her teeth, and shook, apples would come raining down for her to gobble up! Sometimes I’d ride under there & she would stand while I stood (!) on her back to pick them off of the high branches.
Man, I miss my pony. I would sure love some pony art! This is the best giveaway you’ve had yet!

My sister-in-law surprised my husband and I with a shih tzu puppy. We named her Xochitl, and she amazed me at how quickly she became a part of our family.

These horses give me hope that maybe I could “do some art” as well. Time to get out those blank canvases…

As for animal tricksters, I’d have to say my cat. If sleeping were an Olympic event he’d be a medal contender. But when he’s not undergoing rigourous 16 hour training for his marathon naps, he’s doing backflips in the air as he chases his toy mice. He’s a fun guy to have around.
