Fab Freebie: Young Horse Love

***This giveaway is no longer accepting entries***

This week we’re giving away a totally customized painting from a special group of artists. Wanna meet ’em? Allow us to introduce Blitz, Minnow, and Boomer: the artists in residence at Painting Pony. Yes, I said artists.

Ponies Artists

If the paintbrushes in their mouths weren’t proof enough that these Chincoteague Ponies know their way around a canvas (I know, I was a bit skeptical at first too), just check out the colorful artwork they create with the help of their trainer Kyley DiLuigi.

Ponies Painting Collage

Not only do they create one-of-a-kind pieces (with a unique backstory, no less) they also let you add some input about the painting before it’s made, so it’s sure to complement your home. You get to pick the background color and up to four paint colors to be used AND you get to choose which four-legged artist creates it. Kyley also throws in a CD with photos and/or video of it being whipped up.

Ponies Horse To House

If you wanna see these artsy horses in action there’s a video of the painting process (as well as other tricks) on the Painting Pony website. Oh, and be sure to check out their rockstar Dachshund sidekick Ammo. Burger so wants to meet him someday.

Now on to the details for the prize (and stay tuned for another special offer on Thursday):

  • PRIZE: A custom 16″ x 20″ canvas by Painting Pony as described in this Etsy listing.
  • TO ENTER: Comment on this post with the words “PONY UP” and…
  • BONUS QUESTION: …since this week’s prize is all about ponies with amazing tricks up their sleeves, why not tell us about another animal trickster you’ve been wowed by (whether its a skateboarding dog you spotted on YouTube or maybe even some amazing feat your own pet pulled off).
  • GIVEAWAY CLOSES: Wednesday, September 15th at 8pm EST
  • NUMBER OF WINNERS: One
  • PRIZE SHIPS: Anywhere in the world!
  • USUAL STUFF: One entry per e-mail address is permitted. The winner will be selected using random.org and announced on Thursday. Good luck…

My dachshund knows 2 tricks – and 2 tricks only. He can roll over in 1 direction (he’s an ambi-turner). And he will (reluctantly) play dead when you point at him and say “bang!”
He’s a trooper for putting up with my silly antics!

I’ve been watching a lot of “rabbit jumping” lately – although I think my rabbit would snuff at the idea of jumping anything too high!

When I was in 1st grade we had an Afghan dog named Lady. We named her that because she was tall enough to sit on the couch like a human. She even crossed her hind legs.

My current favorite pet trick is the Youtube video of the people who kept wondering why the water in the pool was so low so they installed video cameras outside. They found their lab sized dogs playing in the pool and even going down the slide. I think it’s hilarious because they said their dogs showed no interest in the pool while they were home…. While the cats away…… :)

My bordie collie, Gertie, does numerous tasks including, but not limited to: getting the newspaper, opening closets and finding MY coat, getting MY tennis shoes from the closet amongst other shoes, and she loves to be a delivery girl by carrying items from one room to another.

Pony Up! Our cat can (with a huge running start) jump up ninja-style onto the top of our 7 foot tall cabinet we have in the dining room. Of course once she’s up there, she will jump down onto the table before going to the floor.

Pony up!! I must have one of these paintings…I am a horse and art fanatic! I have an African Grey parrot, “Chesty.” He calls our dog by saying “Come here Lucy.” He says it over and over until she goes in there and then says “Hey pretty girl…whatcha doin?” He will even stick his claw out and pet her on the head while making kissy noises! He is always a big hit when we have company…like when they tell him goodbye and he says “adios!” If you have a minute…You Tube Einstein the African Grey! Thanks for giving me a chance to win one of these awesome paintings!

Pony up! While I love a waterskiing squirrel, I think the most amazing footage I’ve seen was a raven in Japan who would drop a nut into a crosswalk on a busy street where the cars would crack the shell running it over, and he would go and collect the meat when the walk sign came on. Amazing!

Oh my gosh, this is SO cool! I would totally give this as a gift to my sister, who looooves quirky stuff like this and art! This is just so her. Anyway, PONY UP!
So I am a big fan of my own dog’s tricks! Okay so the only ones he really knows are sit, and paw, and “please, go away we are trying to eat and you are silently begging with your eyes!” I did teach him to high five but I am kind of cheating because I do the same motion for paw (hold my hand out) and he puts his paw in my hand as I say “high five!” so it looks like we have this cool trick going, hah! Ah I am totally one of those people who rambles about their pets, aren’t I?!

Last weekend, one of our ferrets accomplished what I had previously believed to be an impossible feat of great acrobatic derring-do. She (and please realize I have no idea how she did this) worked her way from the the floor to a glass terrarium approximately five feet off the ground. Unfortunately, it was not empty at the time. :/

Sigh. And that’s a ferret for you.

PONY UP! I’ve been particularly impressed with one “trick” our dog can do. He’s been known to pull down glass jars from our countertops, unscrew the metal lids, and pull out treats — all without breaking anything or leaving bite marks in the lid. It’s annoying, but still pretty impressive!
