Fab Freebie: Young Horse Love

***This giveaway is no longer accepting entries***

This week we’re giving away a totally customized painting from a special group of artists. Wanna meet ’em? Allow us to introduce Blitz, Minnow, and Boomer: the artists in residence at Painting Pony. Yes, I said artists.

Ponies Artists

If the paintbrushes in their mouths weren’t proof enough that these Chincoteague Ponies know their way around a canvas (I know, I was a bit skeptical at first too), just check out the colorful artwork they create with the help of their trainer Kyley DiLuigi.

Ponies Painting Collage

Not only do they create one-of-a-kind pieces (with a unique backstory, no less) they also let you add some input about the painting before it’s made, so it’s sure to complement your home. You get to pick the background color and up to four paint colors to be used AND you get to choose which four-legged artist creates it. Kyley also throws in a CD with photos and/or video of it being whipped up.

Ponies Horse To House

If you wanna see these artsy horses in action there’s a video of the painting process (as well as other tricks) on the Painting Pony website. Oh, and be sure to check out their rockstar Dachshund sidekick Ammo. Burger so wants to meet him someday.

Now on to the details for the prize (and stay tuned for another special offer on Thursday):

  • PRIZE: A custom 16″ x 20″ canvas by Painting Pony as described in this Etsy listing.
  • TO ENTER: Comment on this post with the words “PONY UP” and…
  • BONUS QUESTION: …since this week’s prize is all about ponies with amazing tricks up their sleeves, why not tell us about another animal trickster you’ve been wowed by (whether its a skateboarding dog you spotted on YouTube or maybe even some amazing feat your own pet pulled off).
  • GIVEAWAY CLOSES: Wednesday, September 15th at 8pm EST
  • NUMBER OF WINNERS: One
  • PRIZE SHIPS: Anywhere in the world!
  • USUAL STUFF: One entry per e-mail address is permitted. The winner will be selected using random.org and announced on Thursday. Good luck…

PONY UP! My grandma once had a little dog that could walk on its front legs (handstand) while wearing little vinyl snow boots. He hated those boots and was simply trying to kick them off.

    PONY UP!

As soon as I found my dogs I trained them to stand on step-stools to look out the windows of my home, since I rented and didn’t want them to mess up the windowsills.

Also, my real seasoned “street” dog is quite talented with even the toughest tupperware. She can carefully remove the lid without harming it, and then carry the open container to her favorite spot in the house without spilling.
(Note: we do NOT encourage this habit!)

My awesome doggie I used to have had all kinds of cool tricks. She would dance on her hind legs, play dead when I’d pretend to shoot her, spin, shake paws, and so on and so forth. She was the best dog ever!

Whatever itch my cousin’s dog Baby Girl can’t scratch with her paw she manages to get by back stroking across the floor. It’s the weirdest thing I’ve ever seen. And when she gets to the end of the rug she turns around and proceeds to go the opposite direction as though she were in a 50 meter race.

Well, this isnt really a trick, but I swear sometimes my dog acts like a complete human teenager (hes almost 14 in dog years) and completely ignores me…sideways “yeah right, mom” glance and all. Perhaps we will wait a few more years before having kids…

Pony Up! What a great conversation piece.

My dog, Hoover, is an English Bulldog and a certified Psychiatric Therapy Dog. He made his first trip inside the cabin of an airplane last week when he moved with my husband and I to Madrid, Spain for my husband to attend and International MBA program. He definitely helped my husband to deal with his anxiety during the flight.

PONY UP! We recently got a new dog, Cooper, so that our feisty little terrier Cosmo wasn’t home alone all day. Cosmo and I like to play a little game where I chase him around and pretend to eat his ears. Sure enough – Cosmo now chases Cooper and goes straight for the ears! I just LOVE my two crazy monsters.

While I love my Border Collie and she’s pretty amazing, I’d have to say the most amazing dog I’ve ever seen was Skidboot, a blue heeler from Texas (youtube “Skidboot the Dog”). Sadly, he passed away a few years ago, but it was amazing to watch the partnership he had with his owner. http://www.skidboot.com/

    PONY UP!!

We live near an equestrian center and visit the horses in the morning when they are most curious. Our Boston Terrier loves to come along and is just dying to get under the fence and run with the “big doggies” Little does he know they might use him for kickball!

Our cats tag team killing summer critters like geckos, locusts and crickets. The one that uses the doggie door brings them in and the other one plays with the kill until it’s dead – then eats it. YUCK! At least I don’t have to clean it up!!

My cat Ollie likes to open doors. If you take a shower, you must be sure to lock the door or else you will step out of the shower butt naked and have 8 eyes on you.
Ollie opens the door and lets in my other cat and two dogs. Then they all crowd in the bathroom and stare. It’s freaky.

I was really impressed with my parakeet’s LACK of a talent when I was a kid – I heard that they could learn to talk if you repeated a word to the enough. A week and about 4 million “hello”s later, she was persistently still chirping!
