Fab Freebie: Young Horse Love

***This giveaway is no longer accepting entries***

This week we’re giving away a totally customized painting from a special group of artists. Wanna meet ’em? Allow us to introduce Blitz, Minnow, and Boomer: the artists in residence at Painting Pony. Yes, I said artists.

Ponies Artists

If the paintbrushes in their mouths weren’t proof enough that these Chincoteague Ponies know their way around a canvas (I know, I was a bit skeptical at first too), just check out the colorful artwork they create with the help of their trainer Kyley DiLuigi.

Ponies Painting Collage

Not only do they create one-of-a-kind pieces (with a unique backstory, no less) they also let you add some input about the painting before it’s made, so it’s sure to complement your home. You get to pick the background color and up to four paint colors to be used AND you get to choose which four-legged artist creates it. Kyley also throws in a CD with photos and/or video of it being whipped up.

Ponies Horse To House

If you wanna see these artsy horses in action there’s a video of the painting process (as well as other tricks) on the Painting Pony website. Oh, and be sure to check out their rockstar Dachshund sidekick Ammo. Burger so wants to meet him someday.

Now on to the details for the prize (and stay tuned for another special offer on Thursday):

  • PRIZE: A custom 16″ x 20″ canvas by Painting Pony as described in this Etsy listing.
  • TO ENTER: Comment on this post with the words “PONY UP” and…
  • BONUS QUESTION: …since this week’s prize is all about ponies with amazing tricks up their sleeves, why not tell us about another animal trickster you’ve been wowed by (whether its a skateboarding dog you spotted on YouTube or maybe even some amazing feat your own pet pulled off).
  • GIVEAWAY CLOSES: Wednesday, September 15th at 8pm EST
  • NUMBER OF WINNERS: One
  • PRIZE SHIPS: Anywhere in the world!
  • USUAL STUFF: One entry per e-mail address is permitted. The winner will be selected using random.org and announced on Thursday. Good luck…

Living on a farm, I could comment about funny animal stories all. day. long.

My husband’s horse, Chief, is ticklish on his spine, it is one of the funniest things ever when you try to brush his hair.

My miniature pot belly piglet, Charlotte, tries to nurse my MALE yorkie, Elijah, ALL THE TIME… and he lets her! We think he thinks she is his baby.

My horse, Apache, likes to buck & show out in his pasture, problem is all the jumping causes him to pass gas – gross and hilarious!

This horses are way more talented than my pooch but he’s pulled some crazy stunts – usually involving eating something he’s not supposed to (like 5lbs of peanuts, shoes, dvds, spines from books…the list goes on)

My dogs and cats work together to get into trouble. Somehow the dogs recruit the cats to help them out with things like getting into the pantry and getting out a bag of dog treats, or getting on the kitchen counter and knocking down pieces of food. The dogs always get caught with the food, but I know it’s the cats that get it for them. I think the cats must be under the impression that the dogs will return the favor, but they never have.

I am constantly amazed by seeing eye dogs. I read a story about a blind man who worked in the World Trade Center and was there on 9/11. Losing hope for himself after the attack, he ordered his Guide Dog to leave the building without him. However, his faithful dog would not leave the building without him and trudged through fire to reach him. The dog then pulled him by his clothes down thousands of stairs as well as the fire and smoke. They both made it out safe and sound.

you’re probably familiar with these elephant artists (http://www.elephantart.com/catalog/splash.php) whose art raises money for asian elephant conservation.

a good friend of mine has had a tough year. from childhood up until she had to sell her horse a few years ago, she rode competitively. after selling her horse, she worked at a stable just to maintain contact with the animals and the sport. it is therapeutic for her. this year she faced several personal and academic obstacles and i’d love to give this painting as a gift to cheer her spirits.

PONY UP – Oh my, my daughter Kylie would die for one of these….she absolutely adores horses and this would just be too cool. As far as Amazing Pet tricks – we had a cat (he passed away a couple of years ago) who played fetch with little rubber balls…you’d throw it, he’d chase it, pick it up in his mouth, and bring it back to you…for hours!
