Fab Freebie: Young Horse Love

***This giveaway is no longer accepting entries***

This week we’re giving away a totally customized painting from a special group of artists. Wanna meet ’em? Allow us to introduce Blitz, Minnow, and Boomer: the artists in residence at Painting Pony. Yes, I said artists.

Ponies Artists

If the paintbrushes in their mouths weren’t proof enough that these Chincoteague Ponies know their way around a canvas (I know, I was a bit skeptical at first too), just check out the colorful artwork they create with the help of their trainer Kyley DiLuigi.

Ponies Painting Collage

Not only do they create one-of-a-kind pieces (with a unique backstory, no less) they also let you add some input about the painting before it’s made, so it’s sure to complement your home. You get to pick the background color and up to four paint colors to be used AND you get to choose which four-legged artist creates it. Kyley also throws in a CD with photos and/or video of it being whipped up.

Ponies Horse To House

If you wanna see these artsy horses in action there’s a video of the painting process (as well as other tricks) on the Painting Pony website. Oh, and be sure to check out their rockstar Dachshund sidekick Ammo. Burger so wants to meet him someday.

Now on to the details for the prize (and stay tuned for another special offer on Thursday):

  • PRIZE: A custom 16″ x 20″ canvas by Painting Pony as described in this Etsy listing.
  • TO ENTER: Comment on this post with the words “PONY UP” and…
  • BONUS QUESTION: …since this week’s prize is all about ponies with amazing tricks up their sleeves, why not tell us about another animal trickster you’ve been wowed by (whether its a skateboarding dog you spotted on YouTube or maybe even some amazing feat your own pet pulled off).
  • GIVEAWAY CLOSES: Wednesday, September 15th at 8pm EST
  • NUMBER OF WINNERS: One
  • PRIZE SHIPS: Anywhere in the world!
  • USUAL STUFF: One entry per e-mail address is permitted. The winner will be selected using random.org and announced on Thursday. Good luck…

Alas, I wish my pony was an artist…although he is particularly adept at “painting” mud/slobber/grass on any clean clothing I wear around him!

Pony Up! That is TOO cute! Hah, I love it – and I love that they’ll send a CD of video of your art being made. Too cool!

As for awesome pets, our little dog Barley has got UPS. He’s got some Jack Russel in him, and loves to jump (from a standstill, no less!). One day I was munching on some chips, and as I was placing a chip in my mouth, it was snatched out of my hand mid-air! Yup, he never ceases to amaze us.

PONY UP! Our dogs, Eleanore and Rigby, walk around our house and backyard holding on to either end of a (now stuffingless) stuffed squirrel. They walk, jump, sit, etc. in tandem for hours! Perfectly precious and very smart, says their completely unbiased Mama!

I work for a non-profit organization that will PONY UP throughout 2010 and into 2011 to support another non-profit organization called MANE. They use horses as therapy for children and adults with emotional, physical, cognitive, and developmental disabilities. Check out their website at:

We would love to use this painting to raise funds to support MANE!

I like to think our Lab/Border Collie is the smartest there is. One day my neighbor rang the doorbell to inform us our pup had leaped over the 5 ft. fence we share to come visit them and their dogs. Luckily, we have very sweet neighbors who found if very sweet that she would make such an effort to visit them :)

We used to have a cat that would go on walks with us. But he was a lot like a teenager at the mall with his parents – always ten steps behind us and when we’d stop to see if he was still with us, he’d nonchalantly look around as if to say, “Not with these people. Nope.”

He was a cool cat. :)

PONY UP! My cat is determined to crawl under a leather chair in the living room. After multiple attempts – she realized that she could not dig a hole through the hardwood floors. So she went on her back, threw her front paws above her head, and slipped through a 3″ clearance to get under the chair…where she proceeded to remove the fabric under the chair – so that she could get INSIDE the chair.

A man worked concession at the post office in our hometown – he was legally blind, had some close vision but nothing else. I was always awed by his seeing eye dog. This was a fantastic animal! She listened closely when someone ordered a can of soda and then went to the cooler and grabbed the correct flavor – every time. She would bring it to her owner who would wipe the can down before handing it to the customer.
