Yes, this freebie is about cleaning, but the “nice” part of my post title risks being a major understatement. For instance, would you call this incredible Australian house that we virtually crashed back in February just “nice?”
Of course not. It’s amazing. Which is why we’re excited that those very homeowners are also the geniuses behind the luxurious and superbly eco-friendly cleaning line called Murchison-Hume. Even more excitingly, they’re sending over $250 worth of luxe home-cleaning products to one lucky reader’s casa (feel free to drool, since you’ll soon have something to clean it up with).
So why do we love Murchison-Hume? Let’s start with the design: vintage apothecary-style bottles that make any countertop photo-shoot ready. Then there’s the eco part. All products are premium organic and are based in the same technology that cleans up oil spills, meaning they’re completely non-toxic. Oh, and of course there’s the fact that they actually work – and smell great (mmm, Australian White Grapefruit). And yes this line (which you can find stateside in Anthropologie and in upscale shelter mags like Elle Decor) is pricier than your average cleaner, but you certainly get what you pay for. Plus, it never hurts to feel a bit fancy when you’re tidying up. In fact they sent some our way and we’ve never felt so elegant while getting our scrub on. Well…I’ve been scratching my head over this one for a few minutes now and I can honestly say that there’s not really ANYTHING I’m obsessive about cleaning. Not sure if that’s a good thing or a bad thing! My husband is definitely the borderline-OCD cleaner in the house.

Wow, this is the perfect freebie for me. I am a “messy person” but I’m obsessive about disinfecting!!! I clean showers, doorknobs, toilets. Clorox is my friend, I’ve discovered that Lysol Kitchen cleanup does the job without bleaching something out… and I DO leave it for the full 10 minutes, if not longer. :) I’m also a nursing student… so sometimes I’m not the most organized. One day when I have time I will be. However, there is NEVER not enough time to disinfect.

My husband and I are both pretty tidy, so cleaning isn’t a huge chore. But once a year, I break out the 5 page spring cleaning spreadsheet and give myself 3 months to complete it. I feel so much healthier after that deep clean!

I am somewhat obsessive about keeping clutter off of any surfaces or trying to keep anything on the floor very organized. I’m also a huge freak about not having any more stuff than we need or really love – I purge everything! Sometimes I regret throwing that piece of paper or shirt out, but most of the time, I’m just glad that it’s not there anymore to clutter our house up.
