Yes, this freebie is about cleaning, but the “nice” part of my post title risks being a major understatement. For instance, would you call this incredible Australian house that we virtually crashed back in February just “nice?”
Of course not. It’s amazing. Which is why we’re excited that those very homeowners are also the geniuses behind the luxurious and superbly eco-friendly cleaning line called Murchison-Hume. Even more excitingly, they’re sending over $250 worth of luxe home-cleaning products to one lucky reader’s casa (feel free to drool, since you’ll soon have something to clean it up with).
So why do we love Murchison-Hume? Let’s start with the design: vintage apothecary-style bottles that make any countertop photo-shoot ready. Then there’s the eco part. All products are premium organic and are based in the same technology that cleans up oil spills, meaning they’re completely non-toxic. Oh, and of course there’s the fact that they actually work – and smell great (mmm, Australian White Grapefruit). And yes this line (which you can find stateside in Anthropologie and in upscale shelter mags like Elle Decor) is pricier than your average cleaner, but you certainly get what you pay for. Plus, it never hurts to feel a bit fancy when you’re tidying up. In fact they sent some our way and we’ve never felt so elegant while getting our scrub on. I’m pretty neurotic about the bathroom. I obsessively wipe down the sink and the mirror. And I INSIST that the shower current must always be closed (opened wide?) after showering to help prevent mold build up in the folds of the liner. My poor husband gets nagged almost daily. :o)

I obsessively clean kitchen counters, outside of appliances, sink, and floor. I love when it looks freshly cleaned and smells good! I also love to use fresh linens on the bed. I also must have clean the four litter boxes for our three cats. Eventhough the boxes are in the basement, I can’t tolerate them not fresh and clean.

My Sante Fe. I’m not obsessive, but I will shake out the mats during the week, and wipe it down on the weekend, with a vacuum every few weeks. It’s a small space, so it’s easy to keep clean, and it puts me at peace when I drive.

My name is Jude and I am a neat freak. It’s a near impossible task keeping the place clutter free with 4 kids and a messy husband and I have to just let it go sometimes…but at night, once the babies are all in bed, I can’t relax until the toys are in their baskets, the dishes are all done and the bags are ready for the morning. Honestly, these days I’m most obsessive about wiping kidlet snot-noses and making sure there’s a clean coffee cup for the morning:). I’ve recently gotten into natural cleaners and having been trying various things with the goal of being able to clean when the kidlets are around without feeling like I’m spraying chemicals into their nasal membranes. Love those fun apothecary bottles, and love even more the report that the cleaners *work*!

KEEP IT CLEAN! Specifically for me, my kitchen island and countertops! Growing up there was always newspapers, books, and magazines laying around and I guess that just reflected back on me by making me very conscious of where things go …I try SO hard to keep my kitchen free of clutter. I feel like when the island (which is an industrial, galvanized steel top) is clean with only a bowl of fruit my cooking experience is much more fun :)
