Yes, this freebie is about cleaning, but the “nice” part of my post title risks being a major understatement. For instance, would you call this incredible Australian house that we virtually crashed back in February just “nice?”
Of course not. It’s amazing. Which is why we’re excited that those very homeowners are also the geniuses behind the luxurious and superbly eco-friendly cleaning line called Murchison-Hume. Even more excitingly, they’re sending over $250 worth of luxe home-cleaning products to one lucky reader’s casa (feel free to drool, since you’ll soon have something to clean it up with).
So why do we love Murchison-Hume? Let’s start with the design: vintage apothecary-style bottles that make any countertop photo-shoot ready. Then there’s the eco part. All products are premium organic and are based in the same technology that cleans up oil spills, meaning they’re completely non-toxic. Oh, and of course there’s the fact that they actually work – and smell great (mmm, Australian White Grapefruit). KEEP IT CLEAN! I make sure our guest bath is always clean and tidy. There’d be nothing worse than an unexpected guest needing to use the powder room, and it be a disaster. So if nothing else in my house is in picture perfect condition, I always know the powder room is nice and fresh!

KEEP IT CLEAN! I absolutely, positively canNOT stand items on the bed. Clothes, hangers, you name it. I think a bed should be freshly made each day with nothing on it but the pillows and bedding. Also, kitchen counters. I spray those suckers down every time I think there is a speck of yucky on them. :-)

I’m not a clean freak but I do enjoy a clean kitchen. I hate it when my dishwasher is full and I have a full load of dirty dishes waiting for their turn. It makes me a little crazy.

I now wipe all the kitchen counters at least once a day. It makes a huge difference in the general clean feel of the house. I also apply the same approach to bathroom counters!

I am rather obsessive about my kitchen. It seriously stresses me out if my kitchen is dirty when I go to bed. I was in counseling for a broken engagement a few years ago and we worked on other things–one being my OCD tendencies. My counselor actually gave me homework of leaving the dishes in the sink overnight! It was hard, but now I’m much more relaxed about it. I still prefer to clean it up every night, but don’t freak out totally if it’s not done.

I’m a hand washer definitely. We live in NYC so with the subways and all… my daughter is 19 months and she knows what hand sanitizer is and how to use it! as for my house, I would have to say that I am obsessed with having squeaky clean sheets and towels. and I like to dust a LOT.

The only thing that I am obsessively neat about is my computer files – ha! Everything else in the real world is ‘take-it-or-leave-it’ with me. There are more important things in life, although I do love a clean house. But I hate not being able to find things on my computer so everything has a place and is named accordingly! ;)

I think I may have been one of the only college student with a consistently clean room. My bed was always made (or I couldn’t study) and I don’t believe there was ever once an old pizza box in the vicinity. Since the ripe old age of 12 my closet has remained color and style coordinated (or I don’t think I could really function). But as much as keep items in their respected place is important, nothing makes a room feel better than that great clean smell. nothing.

What has to stay clean? My feet. I don’t like them, but I can’t walk on dirty floors barefoot. Being barefoot outside is cool until the moment I’m done, when I have to turn on the faucet and give them a scrub.

I clean and our three kids mess. I guess they think I need something to do 24/7. lol.

I’m a writer who works from home so of course my house is really, really, really clean. My vacuum lies around like the family dog. I have two boys so I spend a lot of time scrubbing around toilets. However, I would say that my pet peeve is cluttery counter tops. I not only tidy up my own kitchen counters, desk tops and other horizontal surfaces, but the ones at other people’s houses (not just my mother’s). I’m not kidding. It’s what I do at parties or play dates. I gather pencils, stack papers, and put things in drawers. One time at my friend Donnee’s husband’s birthday party, I rearranged cupboards to find a new home for her mixer. I can’t help it.

I hate cluttered counter tops. My husband comes home and drops of an arm load of stuff on the counter everyday and it drives me crazy. I also hate visible loose dirt on the carpet. I vacuum the living room several times a weeks.
