Fab Freebie: You Clean Up Nice

***This giveaway is no longer accepting entries***

Yes, this freebie is about cleaning, but the “nice” part of my post title risks being a major understatement. For instance, would you call this incredible Australian house that we virtually crashed back in February just “nice?”

MerchHume HouseCrash

Of course not. It’s amazing. Which is why we’re excited that those very homeowners are also the geniuses behind the luxurious and superbly eco-friendly cleaning line called Murchison-Hume. Even more excitingly, they’re sending over $250 worth of luxe home-cleaning products to one lucky reader’s casa (feel free to drool, since you’ll soon have something to clean it up with).

MerchHume SixHandSoap

So why do we love Murchison-Hume? Let’s start with the design: vintage apothecary-style bottles that make any countertop photo-shoot ready. Then there’s the eco part. All products are premium organic and are based in the same technology that cleans up oil spills, meaning they’re completely non-toxic. Oh, and of course there’s the fact that they actually work – and smell great (mmm, Australian White Grapefruit). And yes this line (which you can find stateside in Anthropologie and in upscale shelter mags like Elle Decor) is pricier than your average cleaner, but you certainly get what you pay for. Plus, it never hurts to feel a bit fancy when you’re tidying up. In fact they sent some our way and we’ve never felt so elegant while getting our scrub on. There was even some raised pinky action while we went.

MerchHume LaundryGarment

So here are the deets for this week’s giveaway, including all of the loot that our winner’s gonna take home…

  • PRIZE: Murchison-Hume’s “Classic Six” boxed set, full refill set, Luxury Laundry Soak, Original Garment Groom, Hand Soap and their brand new hand cream.
  • TO ENTER: Comment on this post with the words “KEEP IT CLEAN” and…
  • BONUS QUESTION: … fess up about what you obsessively clean. Are you a frequent hand washer or teeth brusher? Does clutter on your countertop drive you nuts? Do you consider clothes to be dirty even if they’ve barely been worn?
  • GIVEAWAY CLOSES: Wednesday, April 14th at 8pm EST
  • NUMBER OF WINNERS: One
  • PRIZE SHIPS: Worldwide. That’s right, it’s fair game for everyone.
  • USUAL STUFF: One entry per e-mail address is permitted. The winner will be selected using random.org and announced on Thursday. Good luck!

The thing I clean obsessively is the kitchen counter! Ours is black granite, which is lovely… but it shows EVERYTHING, so I am constantly wiping it down. Also, the stove. It seems like it looks dirty so quickly, especially with having 4 pets in the house- hair everywhere! Agh!

    KEEP IT CLEAN!

I obsess over weird things that no one else probably notices…like the hard water marks that I just cannot get rid of in my shower. You really have to look/feel for them, but they bug. Every. Single. Day.

Also, the undersides of my faucets.

I love my kitchen sink to be kept clean at all times. I don’t care if the counters are piled high with dirty dishes–nothing in the sink please! :) With two young boys, though, this is a difficult task!

you know those electric toothbrushes that automatically shuts off in 2 minutes to make sure you’re brushing your teeth for as long as dentists recommend? let’s just say normally by the time my toothbrush stops, i still have all the inside of my teeth left to clean, and i always have to start another cycle…

I can’t stand clutter. I’ve been known to follow roommates and now family members around and obsessively pick up behind them. A place for everything and everything in it’s place, I always say.

I obsessively dust my piano. It was my mothers and when I was a child the only chore she really enforced was keeping the piano pristine. If everything in my house looks like it just shot mercilessly out of a volcano, a freshly dusted piano carries me through… however silly that seems.

I don’t think I obsessively clean anything really. Don’t get me wrong I do my share of scrubbing and vacuuming, but I don’t obsess about any of it. I really hate to clean – but I also hate when things start to look gritty. I’d much rather organize a closet than break out my dust cloth. Usually I try to pawn it off on the husband. :)

I’m continually cleaning the kitchen bench. It’s in the centre of our home and where we spend the most time. With a blokey husband who NEVER picks up after himself, I fell like I clean the kitchen bench 5 tmes a day.

Love the Murchison-Hume products and was blown away by their home when you showed it. Would love to get this much M&H in my house! Am also an Aussie and wish I could find an Australian based blog as good as YHL.

I have learned to let go of most of my cleaning obsessions but two things persist – clutter and mess on my counters and any sort of mess on the floor. I am constantly cleaning off my counter, any bits of crumbs or stray cup are dealt with immediately. And the floor has to be swept and clean, and the carpets vacuumed. It’s a constant job but I feel so much better when it’s done!

I’m obsessive of keeping my office cube clean. I wipe it down multiple times a week to keep the dust bunnies away and keep the my picture frames looking great. My computer screen is regularly wiped down, keyboard cleaned weekly and phone regularly sanitized. Papers are always organized. I spend 80% of my time at work so it seems only natural to make sure it’s super clean! I’d love to not only have some of those products for the office, but also for the home. They seem great!
