Fab Freebie: You Clean Up Nice

***This giveaway is no longer accepting entries***

Yes, this freebie is about cleaning, but the “nice” part of my post title risks being a major understatement. For instance, would you call this incredible Australian house that we virtually crashed back in February just “nice?”

MerchHume HouseCrash

Of course not. It’s amazing. Which is why we’re excited that those very homeowners are also the geniuses behind the luxurious and superbly eco-friendly cleaning line called Murchison-Hume. Even more excitingly, they’re sending over $250 worth of luxe home-cleaning products to one lucky reader’s casa (feel free to drool, since you’ll soon have something to clean it up with).

MerchHume SixHandSoap

So why do we love Murchison-Hume? Let’s start with the design: vintage apothecary-style bottles that make any countertop photo-shoot ready. Then there’s the eco part. All products are premium organic and are based in the same technology that cleans up oil spills, meaning they’re completely non-toxic. Oh, and of course there’s the fact that they actually work – and smell great (mmm, Australian White Grapefruit). And yes this line (which you can find stateside in Anthropologie and in upscale shelter mags like Elle Decor) is pricier than your average cleaner, but you certainly get what you pay for. Plus, it never hurts to feel a bit fancy when you’re tidying up. In fact they sent some our way and we’ve never felt so elegant while getting our scrub on. There was even some raised pinky action while we went.

MerchHume LaundryGarment

So here are the deets for this week’s giveaway, including all of the loot that our winner’s gonna take home…

  • PRIZE: Murchison-Hume’s “Classic Six” boxed set, full refill set, Luxury Laundry Soak, Original Garment Groom, Hand Soap and their brand new hand cream.
  • TO ENTER: Comment on this post with the words “KEEP IT CLEAN” and…
  • BONUS QUESTION: … fess up about what you obsessively clean. Are you a frequent hand washer or teeth brusher? Does clutter on your countertop drive you nuts? Do you consider clothes to be dirty even if they’ve barely been worn?
  • GIVEAWAY CLOSES: Wednesday, April 14th at 8pm EST
  • NUMBER OF WINNERS: One
  • PRIZE SHIPS: Worldwide. That’s right, it’s fair game for everyone.
  • USUAL STUFF: One entry per e-mail address is permitted. The winner will be selected using random.org and announced on Thursday. Good luck!

KEEP IT CLEAN! I obsessively clean the kitchen counters. Even if I know there hasn’t been anything that could make people sick on them I can’t stand for there to be drops of water or crumbs – if I didn’t put it there it could be ANYTHING!

I’m a complete clean-freak! I sanitize the entire kitchen after each time I cook, which is usually twice a day! I also do an entire wipe down of all bathroom surfaces, dust and vacuum at least twice a week! yikes. I could sure use some luxury cleaning products!!

As part of my mild OCD to have my whole house clean, lol… I must say that I am the worst with the bathrooms!! They just have to be clean before I am even able to have my own shower or bath…lol I know, and with a glass shower,it would make much more sense to wait and do it all at the end, but I just can’t do it!! Lol
Thank goodness for my thoughtful husband who understand my ‘quirks’ and helps out whenever he can!! :)

I can’t leave anything on the bathroom counters. Even if we’re not expecting company, I can’t handle the thought of someone seeing bottles, vials, makeup, etc. around. I found a cool mirrored art deco box for all of that: in it goes every morning before I hit the road.

KEEP IT CLEAN! Because I am always in my house (I stay home with my two kids) I HAVE to keep it clean. I just can’t stand to be in it while it’s dirty without getting out a sponge or a broom. The room I am most obsessive about is definitely the kitchen since that is where most of the mess is made throughout the day. But I also obsess about keeping the floors clean.

With lots of children in my house, I obsess over their hands and feet. Hands are to be washed after eating and playing outside, and shoes are to be removed from feet upon entering. These two things help keep fingerprints and sticky messes off walls and furniture and also help keep the floors not so dirty.

With my cup of coffee in hand, I clean our kitchen sink just about every morning. It stainless steel, so it doesn’t really show dirt. But I enjoy starting my day with a sink free of germs & water spots. I’ve been trying to make the switch to all natural products in the house but haven’t been completely satisfied with the results. I am excited to try this line and think the bottles would look quite charming if “accidentally” left out on my counter!

I am a nerd about the presentation of a room. All my towels have to hang the same length and way, pillows facing a certain way, etc etc. My husband and I travel a lot, so I am always freaking out and cleaning like crazy before we take off again. I love the feeling of leaving my home spotless and then arriving from a weary journey to a nice clean home.

I am a clean freak about our floors! I use my handheld Dyson constantly because it’s great at picking up all of the stuff that ends up all over our wood floors. We recently got a full size Dyson for our area rugs and I’m now obsessed with vacuuming. Do you have any idea what it embedded in your carpet? — you may not want to know, seriously!

I obsess about cleaning the toilet paper holder. It gives me the heebies when there is dust or grime on that thing. And, I think it may be an overlooked part of cleaning the bathroom in some people’s cleaning routine…..ick.
I also dream about straight floors where the baseboards are totally flush with the floor, with no space for dust bunnies and grime to get into all the cracks.
