Fab Freebie: You Clean Up Nice

***This giveaway is no longer accepting entries***

Yes, this freebie is about cleaning, but the “nice” part of my post title risks being a major understatement. For instance, would you call this incredible Australian house that we virtually crashed back in February just “nice?”

MerchHume HouseCrash

Of course not. It’s amazing. Which is why we’re excited that those very homeowners are also the geniuses behind the luxurious and superbly eco-friendly cleaning line called Murchison-Hume. Even more excitingly, they’re sending over $250 worth of luxe home-cleaning products to one lucky reader’s casa (feel free to drool, since you’ll soon have something to clean it up with).

MerchHume SixHandSoap

So why do we love Murchison-Hume? Let’s start with the design: vintage apothecary-style bottles that make any countertop photo-shoot ready. Then there’s the eco part. All products are premium organic and are based in the same technology that cleans up oil spills, meaning they’re completely non-toxic. Oh, and of course there’s the fact that they actually work – and smell great (mmm, Australian White Grapefruit). And yes this line (which you can find stateside in Anthropologie and in upscale shelter mags like Elle Decor) is pricier than your average cleaner, but you certainly get what you pay for. Plus, it never hurts to feel a bit fancy when you’re tidying up. In fact they sent some our way and we’ve never felt so elegant while getting our scrub on. There was even some raised pinky action while we went.

MerchHume LaundryGarment

So here are the deets for this week’s giveaway, including all of the loot that our winner’s gonna take home…

  • PRIZE: Murchison-Hume’s “Classic Six” boxed set, full refill set, Luxury Laundry Soak, Original Garment Groom, Hand Soap and their brand new hand cream.
  • TO ENTER: Comment on this post with the words “KEEP IT CLEAN” and…
  • BONUS QUESTION: … fess up about what you obsessively clean. Are you a frequent hand washer or teeth brusher? Does clutter on your countertop drive you nuts? Do you consider clothes to be dirty even if they’ve barely been worn?
  • GIVEAWAY CLOSES: Wednesday, April 14th at 8pm EST
  • NUMBER OF WINNERS: One
  • PRIZE SHIPS: Worldwide. That’s right, it’s fair game for everyone.
  • USUAL STUFF: One entry per e-mail address is permitted. The winner will be selected using random.org and announced on Thursday. Good luck!

There isn’t much I keep obsessively clean (who has time for that?!) but if I could keep something obsessively clean, it would be my bathtub. I love a squeaky clean tub for long, hot baths!

    KEEP IT CLEAN!

I like to keep our entire place clean and organized at all times. The only room that sometimes gets some clutter is our bedroom. And that lasts for no more than a day. A clean house leaves me relaxed and calm – and ready for visitors at any time!

In terms of using household cleaners – I will never leave a dirty dish in the sink. I immediately wash or place in the dishwasher. If only my husband would do the same…. sigh….

Honestly I need to work on becoming a bit more obsessive about cleaning my house! My boyfriend is by far the more neat one. I do, however, HATE dirty nails, so I keep mine short (especially with house work and art projects) and I can’t see a woman with fake nails without thinking about how much dirt and germs are trapped under them. And guys with long nails too, ewwww.

What do I clean obsessively? Sponges! I skeeve sponges so even if I use them once I put them in the microwave or dishwasher to try to keep that sponge smell from coming but no matter how hard i try my boyfriend always leaves it in the sink where it gets covered with food and whatnot and I have to throw it away. Sponges don’t last 3 days in my pad :)

I love to keep the microwave clean. Every little spot must be wiped up as soon as it happens and if someone uses the microwave without covering their food I just hand them the dish cloth. :)

I can’t stand having dirty dishes on the counter next to the sink. Anything that’s waiting to be hand washed goes in a tub under the sink. But I’m very tidy and love keeping everything clean. (Too bad the hubby, two boys and dog don’t share my feelings.)

Bread and/or Toast crumbs bother me more than anything. I feel serious anxiety when they are left on the counter after breakfast – – and sadly it doesn’t bother my husband as much as it bothers me! Thankfully we now have a countertop that doesn’t emphasize the crumbs, so I at least get out the door and to work on time without having to clean the countertops before I can leave.

My ‘KEEP IT CLEAN’ area of my house is definately my kitchen counter. It is a horrid stark white and shows any little crumb or coffee ground so between my Mrs Meyers Basil counter spray with a paper towel or dishsoap with a rag, I am constantly de-crumbing! I sure would be up to trying de-crumbing my counters with THIS lovely line of eco-friendly cleaners though! I love the packaging…I am such a sucker for aesthetically pleasing packaging!
