Fab Freebie: You Clean Up Nice

***This giveaway is no longer accepting entries***

Yes, this freebie is about cleaning, but the “nice” part of my post title risks being a major understatement. For instance, would you call this incredible Australian house that we virtually crashed back in February just “nice?”

MerchHume HouseCrash

Of course not. It’s amazing. Which is why we’re excited that those very homeowners are also the geniuses behind the luxurious and superbly eco-friendly cleaning line called Murchison-Hume. Even more excitingly, they’re sending over $250 worth of luxe home-cleaning products to one lucky reader’s casa (feel free to drool, since you’ll soon have something to clean it up with).

MerchHume SixHandSoap

So why do we love Murchison-Hume? Let’s start with the design: vintage apothecary-style bottles that make any countertop photo-shoot ready. Then there’s the eco part. All products are premium organic and are based in the same technology that cleans up oil spills, meaning they’re completely non-toxic. Oh, and of course there’s the fact that they actually work – and smell great (mmm, Australian White Grapefruit). And yes this line (which you can find stateside in Anthropologie and in upscale shelter mags like Elle Decor) is pricier than your average cleaner, but you certainly get what you pay for. Plus, it never hurts to feel a bit fancy when you’re tidying up. In fact they sent some our way and we’ve never felt so elegant while getting our scrub on. There was even some raised pinky action while we went.

MerchHume LaundryGarment

So here are the deets for this week’s giveaway, including all of the loot that our winner’s gonna take home…

  • PRIZE: Murchison-Hume’s “Classic Six” boxed set, full refill set, Luxury Laundry Soak, Original Garment Groom, Hand Soap and their brand new hand cream.
  • TO ENTER: Comment on this post with the words “KEEP IT CLEAN” and…
  • BONUS QUESTION: … fess up about what you obsessively clean. Are you a frequent hand washer or teeth brusher? Does clutter on your countertop drive you nuts? Do you consider clothes to be dirty even if they’ve barely been worn?
  • GIVEAWAY CLOSES: Wednesday, April 14th at 8pm EST
  • NUMBER OF WINNERS: One
  • PRIZE SHIPS: Worldwide. That’s right, it’s fair game for everyone.
  • USUAL STUFF: One entry per e-mail address is permitted. The winner will be selected using random.org and announced on Thursday. Good luck!

    KEEP IT CLEAN
I have 5 messy kids… I’m ALWAYS doing laundry. Sometime between going to bed and eating their breakfast they manage to make a mess on their pajamas, so 5 sets of pajamas are tossed into the hamper every day. Then, we have towels, daily clothes, bathing suits (if the weather is nice) or scarfs/beanies/mittens (when it’s cold). Then, my husband has his work uniform, daily clothes, and gym clothes. Yes, laundry is my thing :) I don’t enjoy doing it, but it must be done otherwise it starts to take over.

I’m a tidy person, not necessarily clean. I put things away and can’t stand clutter, but need to take it up a notch or two to get things cleaner! this would help. :)

I have to keep my kitchen spotless. I am always cleaning it. My dish cloths also get washed daily. My four kids are also learning now to make sure they keep my counters clean. Just wish they learnt to keep their rooms clean.

I am a nut about bed-making! I must make the bed first thing in the morning or my bedroom feels so cluttered to me. If by some chance I don’t tidy it immediately, I will be sure to make it before I go to bed. Weird, yes, and somewhat counterintuitive, but it feels so much more comfy to slip into a bed with the sheets and blankets all straightened and smooth. Whew…felt good to get that out in the open! :o)

KEEP IT CLEAN! I’m a counter top person…don’t enjoy the clutter…although it is there a lot, but I try to have it clear a few times in the day. Also if I’m not sure if clothes are dirty I just assume they are…with two little boys in the house who are always taking their clothes off this amounts to a lot of laundry.

oooh, I got this one. I’m not really obsessively clean, though I really don’t love clutter. Compared with some friends, I’m pretty laid back! That said, I HATE HATE HATE kitchen countertops that have crumbs or stains. I hate when they aren’t wiped off! It’s really the only thing I get crazy about.

    “KEEP IT CLEAN!”

Is it odd that I LOVE to clean? You name it, I probably like to do it! Vaccuming … check … sinks … check … dusting … yup! I know it may sound strange and maybe a little obsessive, but I like to know things around my house are clean (especially with a 12 month old running around and putting everything in their mouth!). I take my “clean-freak” obession to work with me as well … ( I work in a daycare – so just imagine what that can be like lol!).

PS – LOVE LOVE LOVE this stuff!

I am obsessive about cleaning things that people touch all the time…. door handles, phones, taps, toilet flush buttons… Most of the handles and taps in our house are shiny chrome, so I really love to see those babies shine! I am also obsessive about whites – I always put a whitener in every load so all my whites stay super-white and stains are gone! Hubby can’t believe how much I put in, but since each load is probably a couple of hundred dollars worth of clothes, I think its worth it :)

The source that my irrational cleanliness is directed at the most is the bathroom sink and counter. ESPECIALLY after people visit. I can’t stand it when people don’t rinse their toothpaste spit down the drain! Ew! and the clumps of hair that accumulates everywhere? I clean it constantly. Yuck. (With my dollar-store cleaners – too poor to afford anything nicer at the moment!)

I am obsessively clean about my purse. I NEVER use it for garbage, I will keep garbage in my hand until I can toss it. I clean out receipts, papers, etc. on a daily basis. I also clean out ‘purse dirt’ weekly. You know, the bits of crumbs, makeup, etc. that collect in the bottom. I don’t even have expensive purses, just cheap-o’s or second hand. Just always hated Mom Purse Syndrome so now that I’m a Mom, I’m on double time purse watch!
