Fab Freebie: You Clean Up Nice

***This giveaway is no longer accepting entries***

Yes, this freebie is about cleaning, but the “nice” part of my post title risks being a major understatement. For instance, would you call this incredible Australian house that we virtually crashed back in February just “nice?”

MerchHume HouseCrash

Of course not. It’s amazing. Which is why we’re excited that those very homeowners are also the geniuses behind the luxurious and superbly eco-friendly cleaning line called Murchison-Hume. Even more excitingly, they’re sending over $250 worth of luxe home-cleaning products to one lucky reader’s casa (feel free to drool, since you’ll soon have something to clean it up with).

MerchHume SixHandSoap

So why do we love Murchison-Hume? Let’s start with the design: vintage apothecary-style bottles that make any countertop photo-shoot ready. Then there’s the eco part. All products are premium organic and are based in the same technology that cleans up oil spills, meaning they’re completely non-toxic. Oh, and of course there’s the fact that they actually work – and smell great (mmm, Australian White Grapefruit). And yes this line (which you can find stateside in Anthropologie and in upscale shelter mags like Elle Decor) is pricier than your average cleaner, but you certainly get what you pay for. Plus, it never hurts to feel a bit fancy when you’re tidying up. In fact they sent some our way and we’ve never felt so elegant while getting our scrub on. There was even some raised pinky action while we went.

MerchHume LaundryGarment

So here are the deets for this week’s giveaway, including all of the loot that our winner’s gonna take home…

  • PRIZE: Murchison-Hume’s “Classic Six” boxed set, full refill set, Luxury Laundry Soak, Original Garment Groom, Hand Soap and their brand new hand cream.
  • TO ENTER: Comment on this post with the words “KEEP IT CLEAN” and…
  • BONUS QUESTION: … fess up about what you obsessively clean. Are you a frequent hand washer or teeth brusher? Does clutter on your countertop drive you nuts? Do you consider clothes to be dirty even if they’ve barely been worn?
  • GIVEAWAY CLOSES: Wednesday, April 14th at 8pm EST
  • NUMBER OF WINNERS: One
  • PRIZE SHIPS: Worldwide. That’s right, it’s fair game for everyone.
  • USUAL STUFF: One entry per e-mail address is permitted. The winner will be selected using random.org and announced on Thursday. Good luck!

    KEEP IT CLEAN!

I obsess over cleaning just about EVERYTHING. The thing I constantly cannot stop cleaning though is our floors. We have laminate/faux wood floors, and I usually run my *shark vacuum (belovedly named sharky by my husband)at least once daily, followed by a quick swiffer sweep polish. I love a clean shiny floor! …Too bad it cannot stay clean for longer periods of time. :(

Yeah, not really a crazy clean freak. I guess my husband would say I am about hand washed dishes-they have to be washed in burning hot water. I feel like they’re not as sanitized as the dishwasher.

KEEP IT CLEAN! I am obsessive about cleaning the kitchen sink… i can’t stand for there to be any food / drink residue, dishes, water spots, etc… I wipe it out every time after doing the dishes and make sure there is nothing at all in it! I wish others in the house kept it as clean as I like it =)

I use all natural products to clean my home, but I’ll admit my house is a bit of a mess. Maybe these products will help me KEEP IT CLEAN!

As I said, I’m not the cleanest person ever, so I don’t have too many obsessive tendencies there. I do, however, floss my teeth about twice a day. Seriously. It’s a problem.

KEEP IT CLEAN for me means de-cluttering a room 4 times in a row! I will put things away and leave the room, only to return before the day is over and try to put even more things away. I am a bit obsessive about counters being spotless and all small items in their proper drawer, cupboard, shelf, nook, etc.

I regularly clean desks (otherwise it would never get done!) and if the hand sanitizer, lotion and tissues aren’t exactly in the right spot, I have to go adjust them.

I feel like I fight the good fight trailing behind my husband after meals. After spending much of my time cleaning up the house, the minute he is finished eating I immediately swoop in and clear his place trying to keep it clean! I am pretty good at turning a blind eye to other clutter or in creating small messes, but trying to keep the dining room table clean and clear means that I can always have a nice sit-down dinner with my husband.

Keep it clean! I am very particular about both my sink and countertops being clean because I hate the thought of something unsanitary being left in an area where dishes and food prep are done! I have actually been looking up recipes for organic cleaners that also sanitize but I just haven’t gotten around to buying my essential oil and making it…hopefully I won’t need to! ;-)

I have OCD when it comes to cleaning. The thing I’m most fanatical about is clutter. I cannot stand to have the piles my husband creates–okay, I’ll admit that I create them too– on the counters. We recently renovated our kitchen so it drives me especially nuts now. I want to see those gorgeous countertops!
