Yes, this freebie is about cleaning, but the “nice” part of my post title risks being a major understatement. For instance, would you call this incredible Australian house that we virtually crashed back in February just “nice?”
Of course not. It’s amazing. Which is why we’re excited that those very homeowners are also the geniuses behind the luxurious and superbly eco-friendly cleaning line called Murchison-Hume. Even more excitingly, they’re sending over $250 worth of luxe home-cleaning products to one lucky reader’s casa (feel free to drool, since you’ll soon have something to clean it up with).
So why do we love Murchison-Hume? Let’s start with the design: vintage apothecary-style bottles that make any countertop photo-shoot ready. Then there’s the eco part. All products are premium organic and are based in the same technology that cleans up oil spills, meaning they’re completely non-toxic. Oh, and of course there’s the fact that they actually work – and smell great (mmm, Australian White Grapefruit). And yes this line (which you can find stateside in Anthropologie and in upscale shelter mags like Elle Decor) is pricier than your average cleaner, but you certainly get what you pay for. If I were to pick just one, I’d say that the thing that I often obsess about is my kitchen sink. I can’t stand seeing dirty dishes just sitting there. No matter how sleepy or sick I am, I still manage to get the dirty dishes in the dishwasher and spray clean the sink. The irony of it all is that my hubby can never (and I mean never) seem to follow my rule.

Ok, so I admit, I scrub my kitchen and bath tile on my hands and knees with a brush and soft scrub. It’s the only thing that works on white tile and white grout. I even have a steam mop but I don’t think it gets in the grout and corners enough. The lesson learned here is I should have sealed the grout or used a color for the grout, a nice pearl gray perhaps.

Keep it Clean! I can’t stand dirty appliances like washers and dryers and dishwashers. The thought of a filthy appliance that is suppose to clean things like dishes and clothes is just icky, so I’m always cleaning them with a toothbrush to get the grime out of every last nook and cranny.

I think I totally saw the hand soap at Marshall’s today for $7 and now I’m TOTALLY regretting not buying it.
As a nurse, I’m obsessive about anything from work touching anything in my house. Scrubs go in a separate hamper and get washed and dryed separately and have their own drawer and all my work shoes stay at work!

I’m a hand washing obsessive person. We have a child who gets sick easily, so we might be a bit overboard. But we also have pet / small kids so I prefer the chemical free options.
And as the mom of three boys – the Boys’ Bathroom cleaner had me in stitches! I bought some from Anthropologie, but would love to try the whole line. I would try just about anything to make it smell and look clean in there!

I also can’t stand if someone sits on my bed (or places anything on the bed, or leans against the bed, or looks at the bed the wrong way) after it’s been made. But I’m most obsessive about my keyboard at work. I have a small brush, and I find myself brushing the keyboard free from dust several times during the day.
