Fab Freebie: You Clean Up Nice

***This giveaway is no longer accepting entries***

Yes, this freebie is about cleaning, but the “nice” part of my post title risks being a major understatement. For instance, would you call this incredible Australian house that we virtually crashed back in February just “nice?”

MerchHume HouseCrash

Of course not. It’s amazing. Which is why we’re excited that those very homeowners are also the geniuses behind the luxurious and superbly eco-friendly cleaning line called Murchison-Hume. Even more excitingly, they’re sending over $250 worth of luxe home-cleaning products to one lucky reader’s casa (feel free to drool, since you’ll soon have something to clean it up with).

MerchHume SixHandSoap

So why do we love Murchison-Hume? Let’s start with the design: vintage apothecary-style bottles that make any countertop photo-shoot ready. Then there’s the eco part. All products are premium organic and are based in the same technology that cleans up oil spills, meaning they’re completely non-toxic. Oh, and of course there’s the fact that they actually work – and smell great (mmm, Australian White Grapefruit). And yes this line (which you can find stateside in Anthropologie and in upscale shelter mags like Elle Decor) is pricier than your average cleaner, but you certainly get what you pay for. Plus, it never hurts to feel a bit fancy when you’re tidying up. In fact they sent some our way and we’ve never felt so elegant while getting our scrub on. There was even some raised pinky action while we went.

MerchHume LaundryGarment

So here are the deets for this week’s giveaway, including all of the loot that our winner’s gonna take home…

  • PRIZE: Murchison-Hume’s “Classic Six” boxed set, full refill set, Luxury Laundry Soak, Original Garment Groom, Hand Soap and their brand new hand cream.
  • TO ENTER: Comment on this post with the words “KEEP IT CLEAN” and…
  • BONUS QUESTION: … fess up about what you obsessively clean. Are you a frequent hand washer or teeth brusher? Does clutter on your countertop drive you nuts? Do you consider clothes to be dirty even if they’ve barely been worn?
  • GIVEAWAY CLOSES: Wednesday, April 14th at 8pm EST
  • NUMBER OF WINNERS: One
  • PRIZE SHIPS: Worldwide. That’s right, it’s fair game for everyone.
  • USUAL STUFF: One entry per e-mail address is permitted. The winner will be selected using random.org and announced on Thursday. Good luck!

    KEEP IT CLEAN!

I need all counter/table tops to be clear of clutter unless we are using them – AND I need to floor to be vacuumed. It just feels so good if these two things are taken care of. :)

    KEEP IT CLEAN

Cleaning is my mission, to the point that when I wash my sheets weekly I take the time to iron and starch them so that they look crisp for the entire time to come before they are cleaned again! (it does make a difference – and the starch has a nice smell)

I’d love to say I’m obsessed with cleaning something, but with 3 kids under 6, I’m lucky to get a maintenance level of cleanliness around here. Even so, I’d love to try out there products!

    KEEP IT CLEAN!

My friends all say that I’m OCD. But you’ve heard that before. But really–I have to have the bed made, counters wiped (I’m constantly wiping my glass stove top). We have all hard woods-so the floors are dusted and mopped on the reg–and the bathroom sink (which is a work in progress for my partner Spencer) is mostly free of toothpaste, hair from shaving (Spencer) and the general muck. I would love to try eco-friendly swanky products as I live in the PacNW–and am always trying to find new ways to be more of a character :)

My biggest cleaning annoyance is when people leave cluttering on my dining room table. Things like bills to pay, jackets, keys, phones, pens, and other quickly dropped gadgets are frequently left here.

I confess to washing my hands way too often. Oh, and insisting on cleaning up as I cook (wiping down counters, putting dishes in the dishwasher, washing out pots) so that I don’t have a mountain left to deal with after eating. Even if that means the food gets cold. I would love to win these cleaning products!

I worked for a few years as an elementary school custodian. (Does that get me bonus points in cleanliness? :P) As a result of that job, I obsessively clean sinks, including the underside of the hardware and the rim around the faucet drain. Sinks get SO GROSS!

I hate countertop clutter … I don’t like clutter anywhere really, but sometimes I’m just lazy so things get cluttered, but I can’t stand clutter on the counter.

I’ve found the best way to counteract clutter is to have people over for dinner. You will clean your house like you never have before.

KEEP IT CLEAN. But not too clean. A little dirt is good for you (makes for healthier immune systems according to some studies) and raising three kids I quickly learned that 1) The house won’t stay clean for two minutes anyway and 2) It only causes lots of grief for everyone if you’re too obsessed about it.
