Fab Freebie: You Clean Up Nice

***This giveaway is no longer accepting entries***

Yes, this freebie is about cleaning, but the “nice” part of my post title risks being a major understatement. For instance, would you call this incredible Australian house that we virtually crashed back in February just “nice?”

MerchHume HouseCrash

Of course not. It’s amazing. Which is why we’re excited that those very homeowners are also the geniuses behind the luxurious and superbly eco-friendly cleaning line called Murchison-Hume. Even more excitingly, they’re sending over $250 worth of luxe home-cleaning products to one lucky reader’s casa (feel free to drool, since you’ll soon have something to clean it up with).

MerchHume SixHandSoap

So why do we love Murchison-Hume? Let’s start with the design: vintage apothecary-style bottles that make any countertop photo-shoot ready. Then there’s the eco part. All products are premium organic and are based in the same technology that cleans up oil spills, meaning they’re completely non-toxic. Oh, and of course there’s the fact that they actually work – and smell great (mmm, Australian White Grapefruit). And yes this line (which you can find stateside in Anthropologie and in upscale shelter mags like Elle Decor) is pricier than your average cleaner, but you certainly get what you pay for. Plus, it never hurts to feel a bit fancy when you’re tidying up. In fact they sent some our way and we’ve never felt so elegant while getting our scrub on. There was even some raised pinky action while we went.

MerchHume LaundryGarment

So here are the deets for this week’s giveaway, including all of the loot that our winner’s gonna take home…

  • PRIZE: Murchison-Hume’s “Classic Six” boxed set, full refill set, Luxury Laundry Soak, Original Garment Groom, Hand Soap and their brand new hand cream.
  • TO ENTER: Comment on this post with the words “KEEP IT CLEAN” and…
  • BONUS QUESTION: … fess up about what you obsessively clean. Are you a frequent hand washer or teeth brusher? Does clutter on your countertop drive you nuts? Do you consider clothes to be dirty even if they’ve barely been worn?
  • GIVEAWAY CLOSES: Wednesday, April 14th at 8pm EST
  • NUMBER OF WINNERS: One
  • PRIZE SHIPS: Worldwide. That’s right, it’s fair game for everyone.
  • USUAL STUFF: One entry per e-mail address is permitted. The winner will be selected using random.org and announced on Thursday. Good luck!

    Keep it clean!

I’m constantly fighting the pets over decorating styles. They prefer nose-smudged windows, hair-laden upholstery, and drool-splotched coffee tables… while I DO NOT!

I really can’t stand clutter. If you like ‘knick-knacks’ you can display them in a stylish way like in on a tray, in a jar or in a basket not in a pile on the dresser. I clean when I’m upset or I need to think.

I hate clutter – anywhere in the house, but especially the places that we really “live” in (i.e. kitchen and family room).

I don’t love dust or dog hair!! I am always vacuuming, as little Ollie the French Bulldog is crazy good at shedding.

Dirty kitchens aren’t my favorite either! A clean sink = A happy me!

I am very very anal about the clothes on the floor. My husband gets so annoyed because he just drops his clothes on the floor clean or dirty. So he is always looking to wear something that may be clean, but because it was on the floor, I grab it and put it in the laundry. :)

I can definitely get behind in regular house cleaning, but I try to keep our guest room looking nice at all times, with clean sheets on the bed. It is the only room in our house that the dogs aren’t allowed in. You never know when someone will drop by for a night! :)

(Of course, as I type the guest room is actually taken over by our new diy headboard that I am painting (white!) as it is raining and I can’t paint on the patio as per usual.)

Definitely conscious (overly?? :)) on keeping my hands clean! Also a MUST to have the sink & counter cleaned and cleared all dirty dishes…even if it means loading the dishwasher at, ahem, MIDNIGHT and washing the large pieces by hand. Living in the south has made me aware of some…unwanted house-guests–eek!….that I do not wish to enable in populating! :-) KEEP IT CLEAN :)!!

I hate sticky, gunked up bottle caps (ketchup bottle and laundry bottle seem to be the worst in my house). It seems like I am always removing and rinsing them or trying to come up with ways to keep them from getting sticky in the first place. For example, I now toss the laundry cap right in with laundry for a good spin cycle. Comes out gunk-free everytime!
