Yes, this freebie is about cleaning, but the “nice” part of my post title risks being a major understatement. For instance, would you call this incredible Australian house that we virtually crashed back in February just “nice?”
Of course not. It’s amazing. Which is why we’re excited that those very homeowners are also the geniuses behind the luxurious and superbly eco-friendly cleaning line called Murchison-Hume. Even more excitingly, they’re sending over $250 worth of luxe home-cleaning products to one lucky reader’s casa (feel free to drool, since you’ll soon have something to clean it up with).
So why do we love Murchison-Hume? Let’s start with the design: vintage apothecary-style bottles that make any countertop photo-shoot ready. Then there’s the eco part. All products are premium organic and are based in the same technology that cleans up oil spills, meaning they’re completely non-toxic. Oh, and of course there’s the fact that they actually work – and smell great (mmm, Australian White Grapefruit). I must say that I am fanatical about my floors. I sometimes will vacuum 3 times daily….I hate to admit, but I will get down eye level with the wood so I can see anything that I have missed. Oh, and with 2 small girls and a messy husband, I am always scrubbing the bathroom sink free of crusted toothpaste.

I like to do a 10 minute tidy before I leave the house in the morning…put dishes in the dishwasher, wipe down counters, fold up throw blankets, fluff pillows. Just make it look nice for when I come back home again!

I hate clutter overall and I’m obsessive about cupboards, closets and drawers being organized. I am the only person in my family that proudly can say “I don’t have a junk drawer”. All this obsession started as a child when I had to do the dishes and put them away. I hated that my parents had messy cupboards and to put something away, you shoved it in and hoped nothing else fell out.

This just happened, so I will vent a little here. My husband is constantly leaving the change from his pocket around the house. I have found it on the kitchen counter, on the desk, on the nightstand.
He has been better since I got him a jar to keep in his closet that he can fill with change to his hearts delight (and I will find a way to spend later), but that is the clutter that drives me insane.
