Fab Freebie: What’s In A Name?

*** This giveaway is now closed – see who won below! ***

After 10,000 interesting name origin stories, random.org has selected our winners as… Beth (who says “my dad picked it out and to this day I’m whole heartily a daddy’s girl.”) and Chelsea (who’s name story is: “My parents got my name from the 1981 movie, On Golden Pond. ‘Chelsea’ was played by Jane Fonda”) Congrats!

I realize from the name Online Fabric Store, you might have trouble guessing what this online store sells, so allow me to solve that mystery for ya. Fabric! And seemingly every kind of fabric – like upholstery, decor, quilting, apparel and even garden fabric. Which means that this week’s two winners (who are each getting $250 to spend there) could tackle anything from sewing some pillow covers or making a duvet to redoing the curtains in an entire room. And the cool thing about their system is that the more yardage you buy, the cheaper each yard gets – and once you get over that $50 mark, your shipping in the US is free.

FABRIC ME! My mom named me after her younger sisters childhood friend. She would take the two of them to pre school every day and my mom just loved this little girl, and loved the name because of her!

Fabric me! I love to sew!! My parents chose my name because it wasn’t something that could be abbreviated into a nickname. I am forever grateful and love my name. My husband and I have names picked out for our nonexistent kids that follow this rule as well!

I desperately need some curtains for my bedroom!
And what’s in my name? Not much. It doesn’t get any more significant than the fact that it is a biblical name and it sounds nice! That doesn’t explain why I get called ‘Rachel’ rather than ‘Rebecca’ at least 30% of the time, though. I blame ‘Friends’ :)

FABRIC ME! My parents gave me a long Austrian name and my nickname (pronounced Ahh-nee) is after my Great Aunt, Tante Annie (“Tante” is German for “aunt”). She died when I was about ten. Anyway, now my nieces and nephews call me “Tante Annie” and it’s pretty cool to have that name because I loved my own Tante Annie!

FABRIC ME! I have no clue what my name means… I was supposed to be named “Skye” but my dad was a pilot and hated it. I was an emergency C-section bc of complications. After my dad saw all that my mom went through to have this baby e told her she could name me whatever she wanted. He was sure she’d pick “Skye” but to hi surprise my mom changed her mind on the operating table to “Lindsey”… a name they had never once discussed.

what I’m more curious about is the origin of this question! usually it has something to do with the giveaway; are you riffing off the store’s name or is name selection on your minds right now???
