And the randomly selected person who’s starting their new year off with prize is… Jennifer (who answered this week’s question with a Canadian folk lyric – which I had to look up, mind you: “Lukey’s boat is painted green, Ha, me boys!”). Congrats Jennifer!
Raise your hand if you know what a bathymetric chart is. I didn’t before this giveaway, but it’s basically like a topographic map for what lies underwater. But the more important thing to know is that the married duo behind Below the Boat turns these charts into gorgeous, laser-cut, hand-assembled works of art. They’re beautifully intricate and fascinatingly detailed. And they’ve got lots of bodies of water from the east coast, west coast, and even some lakes in between. One of you is gonna win up to $300 worth of bathymetric chart-y goodnesst this week. So… ahoy!

“BOAT ME!” My husband and I want to get into kayaking. This would be a good first step.

I would love to do a luxury cruise of some kind, but even a day on a sailboat with my hubby around Nantucket would be pretty awesome! I’ve always wanted to go there. Happy New Year YHL!

BOAT ME!! I would go on a luxury cruise :)
Boat me!!!! I think I would like to float down the Mississippi on a raft a la Huck Finn! My nightmare is a sail boat…we almost got caught in the start of Hurricane Emily on a sail boat. Of course it was my first time…Yikes! Maybe I should stick to dry land!
BOAT ME!- I’d love to go on a catamaran in the Caribbean, but a boat anywhere warm would work! :)

BOAT ME! A raft – in the pool. I am not a fan of the idea of being out on the water. I guess I’ve seen titanic too many times….
Boat me! Definitely a sailboat!
Jennie Andersen says
I’d take a luxury cruise any day! :)
Kristin B. says
I would go out on a sailboat. Growing up on the Jersey Shore, I was always around boats and love all types, but a sailboat is so relaxing and a great way to take in the views!
Boat Me!! I love a good old fashioned kayak. Being so close to the water and using your own strength and endurance to push along.
BOAT ME! Cruise ship all the way!
Gina Stierwalt says
I could get on board with a huge sail boat. As long as I get to relax and don’t have to do any of the work!
Meghan Lindsay says
Boat me! I would definitely opt for a luxury cruise ship!

BOAT ME!! Sailboat for sure :)
“BOAT ME!” a catamaran
Amy S. says
Boat Me! A sailboat for sure!
Emily Piersol says
BOAT ME! I’m partial to kayaks, they can be both relaxing (on a smooth lake) or exciting when going down rapids
BOAT ME! We love it all! Sailing, cruising, kayaking…bring it on!
Boat me! Houseboat on a river all the way, my fiance gets too seasick for anything more turbulent! :)
Boat me! My fiance is a part-time commercial fisherman here on Cape Cod so my summer days are often spent in his boat in search of striped bass!
Natalie Royall says
Boat me!! My hubby and I were married on a cruise ship… so that is the “boat” of my choice :)
BOAT ME! I’m afraid of cruise ships, too many people! I’d love to sail in a smaller boat in a sea (the ocean is too big!)…..
Boat me! Canoe!
BOAT ME! I’ll stick with a kayak, please :)
Nora Rose says
I love boats but only on lakes. Ocean boats freak me out…
Erin B says
I’m definitely a luxury cruise type of gal. I love my baby and all, but a vacation sure would be nice! (Or I can just look at the map and imagine it all in my head.)
BOAT ME! My husband’s choice would be any boat that he can fish from, my ideal boat involves fruity tropical drinks and warm destinations.
BOAT ME!!! I love a sailboat :) And one of these would look perfect in the cabin of ours…
BOAT ME. Luxury cruise, for sure!
Boat me! I would say a yacht if I’m dreaming, or a good ol speedboat :)
BOAT ME! Used to love sailing and any kind of boating. Oddly in the last few years though, seasickness has spoiled my last few outings. Hoping the trend reverses itself and untill it does I’ll dream of sailing on a tall ship.
We live on a lake, so I’ve spent plenty of summers on a speed boat. I’d gladly take that over a yacht or cruise ship! :)
Boat me! no cruise ship for me. In my romantic dreams, I’m on a tall ship, sailing the world and recreating the tales of centuries past. But in my practical imaginings, it’s a simple dory for me – just enough to get out around the bay for some fresh cod for dinner.
BOAT ME! Sailboat, cheers!
BOAT ME – I would love going on our pontoon with my family. Relaxing and watching their faces.
Boat me!! Luxury cruise would be my desire!! I’ve been on one and would love to go again!
Sarah C. says
After an ill-planned ‘joy ride around that bridge over there’ (2 hours max. right?) turned into an 8 hour searing of the flesh with no water or food (or – obviously – sunscreen), I’d have to say my ultimate nightmare boat is a paddleboat. My father/fellow former paddleboater would also agree. It’s been over ten years and we haven’t set foot in one since.
Regardless, those maps are wicked cool. :)
