Fab Freebie: This Is Your Pilot Writing

***This giveaway  is now closed – see who won below! ***

Clearly I’m not the only one who loves a good writing utensil (and Target card) as this giveaway reached our 10,000 entry cap within just 24 hours. Nice work team! So that means we get to crown a winner early. That lucky writer is… Heather F (who “writes notes on the back of envelopes and then loses them. Argh.”) Congrats Heather!

This sounds kinda weird, but I’m very particular about my writing tools. So when the folks at Pilot noticed that we tend to write with their products, they wanted to thank us by passing some freebies along. But you know we don’t take them, so we’re paying it forward in the form of a $500 prize to one of you. Now, before you start figuring out what the heck you’re gonna do with $500 worth of pens – let me stop you. While they’ll keep your hands busy with a variety of pens and highlighters (even some erasable varieties) they’re also gonna let our lucky winner pick out $150 worth of Levenger notebooks and organizers (since we could all use a little organization this time of year). Oh, and to round out the $500 prize, how does a $200 Target gift card sound? That way you can pick up any other items you need to get 2013 off to a productive and organized start.

Pilot Pen Giveaway

  • PRIZE: An assortment of Pilot products plus $150 towards the Levenger notebooks of your choice and a $200 Target gift card (total value $500).
  • TO ENTER: Comment on this post with the words “PILOT ME!” and tell us…
  • BONUS QUESTION: … your favorite way to take notes or scribble down a message. Do you always keep a ballpoint pen in your pocket or purse? Do you swear by pencils so that you can erase your misspellings? Or are you 100% digital and prefer to rely on phone apps and voice memos to keep you organized?
  • GIVEAWAY CLOSES: Wednesday, January 16th at 8pm EST or at 10,000 entries (whichever comes first)
  • NUMBER OF WINNERS: One
  • PRIZE SHIPS: We always beg every vendor to ship internationally but some companies are not legally able to vend things beyond specific areas (more on that here). This giveaway is open to the United States and Canada.
  • USUAL STUFF: One entry per e-mail address is permitted. The winner will be selected using random.org and announced on Thursday as an update to this post. That’s right, come right back here on Thursday for the announcement of our winner. Good luck…
  • ***COMMENT ISSUES? If you’re trying to enter but keep getting a “duplicate comment” warning, click here to see how to solve it!

Note: We aren’t paid or perked for hosting these giveaways, we just do ‘em to thank you awesome folks for stopping in. See our Giveaway FAQ page for more info. Pics courtesy of Pilot.="nofollow">

PILOT ME!!! I LOVE me a good pen…fine point…of course!! I always have at least 1 pen in my purse but most often 3-4 is the norm hence why I am the go-to girl in my house for an emergency pen hook-up!

PILOT ME ! Please. I have vintage flower pots around my home, some filled with pencils and others filled with pens, and notebooks in each room. I am a note-taker, a list-maker, a doodler, a planner … and a new year needs new tools, right? New pens and new notebooks.

PILOT ME! I wish that I could use phone apps the same way as a notepad to save some trees, but there’s just something about writing in a planner. I need to physically write things down and it’s the best feeling in the world to cross things off the ol’ to-do list! And color-coding, while extremely geeky, is my weakness, so I go through tons of pens/hiliters/markers with my planner!

I’m like Sherry in that I have a million scraps of paper in my pockets, purse and desk with scribbled notes to myself. I’m trying to switch over to using my tablet, but there’s just something so satisfying about physically crossing something off of a list with a vicious pen swipe!

    PILOT ME:
While lots of my friends give me grief over my “old-fashioned” methods, I absolutely have to write things down–we’re talking pen and paper here: no substitutions. Such things include my notes to self, calendar entries, errant thoughts, scores and lyrics for work and many of the to-dos that keep me awake at night. Despite working in a studio and having the gamut of technological products at my fingertips, I much prefer the feeling of ink being transferred to a page. I even keep separate notebooks for my personal and professional scribbles and am never far from one. There’s one at my desk, one in my backpack, one in my purse and one on my nightstand (which I highly recommend, especially for us ladies). When I’m tossing and turning in bed, long after my husband is in dreamland, I can make a quick list of what I need to remember the next morning. And it’s almost as if it frees up my brain and I can rest easy about falling asleep. The world will continue to turn. Ah. In summary, without my pen and paper nearby, I would be lost. Just this morning, I had to quickly make a slight change in a bed of music for a client and I couldn’t find a pen. It was a moment of internal panic. Sure, I could have tweaked the composition on my digital score but it just isn’t the same. It will never be the same! And before I could completely freak out on the inside, I realized it had just rolled under my chair. Phew. So, 500 dollars worth of Pilot products–the absolutely gold standard of writing instruments?!?! Heaven.

I’m still a little old fashioned and use tons of post it notes and a planner instead of my phone. I like to use pencils to write things on my calendar because it’s so much neater to be able to erase and change things.

My fave way to jot down notes is just with any ballpoint or gel pen, and a good ol’fashioned sticky note. Might help that those are all we’re supplied with at work, but whatever!! Even at home, for our budget, etc…I love using a pen and paper. I think it makes everything feel more concrete, and I can cross things out easily. I’m also a huge TO DO list person though, so maybe it’s my Listy personality shining through.
