Clearly I’m not the only one who loves a good writing utensil (and Target card) as this giveaway reached our 10,000 entry cap within just 24 hours. Nice work team! So that means we get to crown a winner early. That lucky writer is… Heather F (who “writes notes on the back of envelopes and then loses them. Argh.”) Congrats Heather!
This sounds kinda weird, but I’m very particular about my writing tools. So when the folks at Pilot noticed that we tend to write with their products, they wanted to thank us by passing some freebies along. But you know we don’t take them, so we’re paying it forward in the form of a $500 prize to one of you. Now, before you start figuring out what the heck you’re gonna do with $500 worth of pens – let me stop you. While they’ll keep your hands busy with a variety of pens and highlighters (even some erasable varieties) they’re also gonna let our lucky winner pick out $150 worth of Levenger notebooks and organizers (since we could all use a little organization this time of year). Oh, and to round out the $500 prize, how does a $200 Target gift card sound? That way you can pick up any other items you need to get 2013 off to a productive and organized start.
- PRIZE: An assortment of Pilot products plus $150 towards the Levenger notebooks of your choice and a $200 Target gift card (total value $500).
- TO ENTER: Comment on this post with the words “PILOT ME!” and tell us…
- BONUS QUESTION: … your favorite way to take notes or scribble down a message. Do you always keep a ballpoint pen in your pocket or purse? Do you swear by pencils so that you can erase your misspellings? Or are you 100% digital and prefer to rely on phone apps and voice memos to keep you organized?
- GIVEAWAY CLOSES: Wednesday, January 16th at 8pm EST or at 10,000 entries (whichever comes first)
- NUMBER OF WINNERS: One
- PRIZE SHIPS: We always beg every vendor to ship internationally but some companies are not legally able to vend things beyond specific areas (more on that here). This giveaway is open to the United States and Canada.
- USUAL STUFF: One entry per e-mail address is permitted. The winner will be selected using random.org and announced on Thursday as an update to this post. That’s right, come right back here on Thursday for the announcement of our winner. Good luck…

Note: We aren’t paid or perked for hosting these giveaways, we just do ‘em to thank you awesome folks for stopping in. See our Giveaway FAQ page for more info. Pics courtesy of

Pilot me!
I always have a pen or pencil and paper on hand, especially when I have yarn with me. I need to sketch out design ideas and stitch patterns when knitting or crocheting. Whether I’m writing my own pattern or using somebody else’s, it inevitably gets changed as I’m working on it – or inspires another idea. I always start out with hard copies (and keep the hard copies) before making a digital copy.

Pens. Always pens. I always have at least 2 Pilot G2 pens- ultra fine (.38) on me at all times.
I keep thinking I’ll go digital. But my collection of notebooks and pens laugh at that thought…
Marcia Allocco says
Pilot me – pen and post-it notes. Still old-fashioned!!
Chrissy Henry says
PILOT ME!
I am totally digital; I take notes, make appt, set reminders, and create shopping lists all on my iPhone… I would seriously be lost without it! But I have recently gotten into the smash booking fad and have had tons of fun jotting down little quotes and memories in my smash book :)
Sara says
PILOT ME! I am always making lists and jotting stuff down as I think of it. Because of this, I have a pad of paper in almost every room of the house: by my bathroom sink, by my bed, kitchen, living room, office. I typically use a pen and love pens of all colors!
Mary B says
Pilot me! I still love putting pen to paper, even though I sometimes use the notes app on my phone so I don’t forget or lose the piece of paper :)
Diane says
Pilot me!! I love those pens.
Sarah says
PILOT ME! For impromptu notes I like to use sticky notes, but if I have time I enter notes and reminders into my phone.
Kate says
PILOT ME!
I always carry a pen around. It’s the writing surface I’m less particular about.
Susan says
PILOT ME! I have a tendency to do my best brainstorming and thinking while driving on my hour plus commute each way every day, so I’m prone to leaving myself voicemails at work or shooting a quick email from my phone to work. It seems funny when I think about it but works everytime as my reminder the next morning!
kim B says
Pilot me! I have a thing for stickynotes and black ink. Just saying!
Barbara says
PILOT ME!
I always take notes and make lists, usually on graph paper notepads. My favorite pens are Pilot’s Varsity fountain pens. They make list-making even more fun!
Jasmine says
PILOT ME! I carry a pen and a tape measure with me always!
Chatelaine says
PILOT ME!
At work it’s mechanical pencil all the way, at home it’s mostly gel pens since all my ballpoint pens are cheap and they get stuck
Grace says
Pilot me, pretty please!
I am also a compete nerd when it comes to pens. G-2 Pilot in blue and a mini notebook that goes everywhere with me. I am a list lover, not a fighter:) And, just between you and me, a trip to an office supply store leaves me giddy with excitement.
Emily says
PILOT ME! They are the only pens I use!!
Erin S says
Pilot me! I love writing notes on post-its with a pen!
Regan Wood says
PILOT ME!
While I do confess to using the Notes app on my phone occasionally, I am an old-fashioned list maker through and through. I love a good clean pen line on a fresh sheet of paper!
Dianna says
PILOT ME
I just grab whatever is closest to me… envelope, paper, phone, chalk board then take a photo of it with my phone to take with me, etc.
Aubrey says
Pilot me! I am a ball-point pen kind of gal with my handy-dandy calendar and note pad. If I don’t write it down I don’t remember it. :)
Sarah C. says
Pilot Me! I always have a ball point pen with me, and though I use my iPad for some notes, I keep going back to the legal pad.
Nicole says
Pilot Me! All of my To Do lists have to be written with a pen on paper. It is the best when you get to physically check something off.
Ashley H says
Pilot Me!
Stationary is my weakness – I’m definitely a pen and paper girl!
s says
Pilot me! I love big pens with fat tips. Though I do use my phone more often now just because its always with me.
Craig says

Colored Micron pens were my weapon of choice in college and continue today. I jot down notes on paper, but if something is important, it is straight to the phone as a digital reminder. Best not to rely on the sketchy memory :)
samantha sue says
PILOT ME! I always have a pen in my purse and every car we own!
Nick says
PILOT ME! Mechanical pencil.
Kathryn says
Let me win some PILOT ME!!!
Susan says
PILOT ME! Pens have permanent homes in my purse and on the kitchen table, my desk, the side table next to my reading chair, and on and on. I want pens in lots of colors!
Kristin says
Pilot me! I always have a running list, at work and at home :)
Kimberly says
Pilot me please. I make lists…constantly….and always have pen and paper. In my diaper bag, purse, backpack, everywhere. You just never know.
Alexis says
Pilot me! I keep trying to organize myself digitally, but always end up going back to my pen/sticky note system!
Alyssa Galvas says
PILOT ME!
I either scribble a note with a ball point pen (I prefer black ink) or add it to a note app on my phone if we’re out. I love when I can scratch something off my paper to do list- it gives me so much more pleasure than just deleting it off my phone.
Jen D. says
PILOT ME!!
I loooove sharpies!
Laura says
Pilot me, please! I like to write my lists down– on paper and in pen. I hate pencils.
Renee says
PILOT ME
Katie Fuller says
Pilot me! I love looking back on composition books full of random notes I’ve made over the years. I’ve kind of gotten out of the habit since my toddler took over the universe – but it is so fun to look back at things I thought were funny or important in those books. Come to think of it, I should start doing that again, because what is more hilarious than a toddler?
Brooke says
PILOT ME! I usually stick to pen and LOVE making lists, just so I can eventually cross things off the ever-growing list!
Michelle says
Pilot me! Gotta love sticky notes!
Corinne Myszka says

Tim says

I go for best of both worlds…a livescribe pen at work. Best of ink and digital.
Outside of work, I’m ball point all the way.
Monica says

I always have a pen with me.

I can always use a extra pilot pen or two. I keep one handy in my bag, desk and in the kitchen. I have been using Levenger notebooks for nearly 10 years. They are the best!
Katie says
PILOT ME!
I love using my phone to take notes. Way easier to keep track of and I then I can look back at a later date!
