Fab Freebie: This Giveaway Sucks

***This giveaway is no longer accepting entries***

Literally- it does. Hear me out for a minute. A couple of weeks ago we posted about our new Bissell vacuum, which virtually swept us off our feet (and actually sucked stuff off our floors). Well, thanks to the magic of the Interweb, that post actually caught the eye of the kind folks over at Bissell and after a few emails back and forth… tah dah! We managed to sweet talk them into a YHL giveaway. So now one lucky reader gets the chance to win their very own Bissell Cleanview Helix Bagless Vacuum Cleaner to help them spruce up every nook and cranny of their casa. Nice, right?

Bissell Cleanview

We’re psyched that Bissell’s helping us share this HEPA-filterin’, 12-amp powerin’, multi-surface settin’, pet hair suckin’ and lightweight cleanin’ love with one of you. And if your house is home to a canine or a feline with a bit more fur than our bald-bellied Burger, this little bonus prize might come in handy too: they’re throwing in a Bissell’s Pet Hair Broom for our big winner as well.

Bissell Pet Broom2

Even if you don’t find yourself sweeping up much pet hair, the broom’s rubber bristles (which attract fur like a magnet) are retractable for your normal sweep jobs. So here’s how you can get your paws on this prize set which- thanks to the broom- technically doesn’t completely suck.

  • PRIZE: A Bissell 82H1 Cleanview Helix Bagless Upright Vacuum Cleaner and Pet Hair Broom
  • TO ENTER: Comment on this post with the words “CLEAN ME” and…
  • BONUS QUESTION: … tell us about any of your spring cleaning rituals that are already underway in your house (or any that you might be diving into soon). Getting the garden ready? Washing all the windows? Taking us up on our closet cleaning party? Spill it.
  • GIVEAWAY CLOSES: Wednesday, March 10th at 8pm EST
  • NUMBER OF WINNERS: One
  • PRIZE SHIPS: Home to the world’s best and second-best hockey teams (that’s Canada and the US, fyi)
  • USUAL STUFF: One entry per e-mail address is permitted. The winner will be selected using random.org and announced on Thursday. Good luck!

    CLEAN ME

My ritual is going through our clothes drawers. I try to give a huge bag of no-longer-needed (or worn) clothes to the local Vietnam Vet center several times a year. This year I am also going to do a clean out the fridge and re-stock the freezer project.

Our spring cleaning will start in the yard! We moved into our house in Sept, renovated almost the entire inside since, but now the yard does not match!! Thank goodness for the warmer weather!

    CLEAN ME!

Cleaning? Rituals… is forgetting to clean one? We have two inherited vacuum cleaners – one from the previous owner of our house (it doesn’t suck very well… maybe that’s why they left it?) and one that I think is from the 80’s that was passed down from my aunt. So we’ve thought about buying a new one already.

But back to cleaning… we tend to do an ok job when we’re about to have a party, but it’s been a couple months now, so we’re due for another party (and house cleaning).

I’ve definitely been bit by the cleaning bug… one thing that’s been driving me nuts since we moved into our new construction home is the blinds. The builder included basic blinds throughout the house (awesome because we have lots of HUGE windows!) The downside? The builder is not as nit-picky as we are and put them up dirty and dusty!

We’ve spot-cleaned them the best we can while they’re still hanging up, but my big spring cleaning project this month is taking down ALL the blinds and thoroughly cleaning each one!

We can’t wait for pristine blinds!

We go through old bills and receipts, to re-organize and purge. We also have to tackle the closets and find clothes to keep, donate, or sell at our garage sale.

    CLEAN ME!

My spring cleaning ritual is actually going to be an interesting one this year! My boyfriend and I have recently just settled a lease on a new apartment, which is definitely going to need some heavy duty cleaning and airing out, and we’ll be moving in in about 2 weeks. It’ll be exciting though because it’ll be one of our first big projects together (first out of many more to come, I’m sure!) and I’m looking forward to getting everything neat and tidy for our new place together.

I really don’t have any spring cleaning rituals. I do a lot of random purges of stuff we don’t use anymore, and every once in a while, I’ll do a huge cleaning to where spring cleaning really isn’t necessary.

We’ve been doing a lot of remodeling lately which has reaked havoc on our walls. So last weekend I did some touch-up painting on walls that haven’t been painted in a couple of years. Not technically cleaning but it looks a lot cleaner!

CLEAN ME (please!!!). I am compulsively purging the house of STUFF that gets carted off to Goodwill or given to friends and it feels SO GOOD to have less and less cluttering our storage spaces. I’m also starting to organize our 18 month old’s baby clothes into clear bins (they’ve been in cardboard boxes) so we can find stuff when we have another one someday. :)

Spring cleaning in the garden. Clean out all the dead stuff, rake the leaves from the garden beds and discover all the new growth poking up above.

But, I also have five cats and a dog and could use a terrific vacuum on a daily basis! CHOOSE ME!

I love the usual intensive, fresh-start cleaning projects that come with the warmer, windows-open weather. However, my favorite (and the entire family’s favorite) is to rearrange a room. This year it’s my son’s bedroom. Nothing like it for a fresh-start for spring!

I’ve been cleaning out closets- yesterday I started sorting through all of our old paint cans (some even left by the former owner of our home)- our city lets us call for 1 pick up of hazardous waste per year for free, so I have an easy way to dispose of it!
