Fab Freebie: This Giveaway Sucks

***This giveaway is no longer accepting entries***

Literally- it does. Hear me out for a minute. A couple of weeks ago we posted about our new Bissell vacuum, which virtually swept us off our feet (and actually sucked stuff off our floors). Well, thanks to the magic of the Interweb, that post actually caught the eye of the kind folks over at Bissell and after a few emails back and forth… tah dah! We managed to sweet talk them into a YHL giveaway. So now one lucky reader gets the chance to win their very own Bissell Cleanview Helix Bagless Vacuum Cleaner to help them spruce up every nook and cranny of their casa. Nice, right?

Bissell Cleanview

We’re psyched that Bissell’s helping us share this HEPA-filterin’, 12-amp powerin’, multi-surface settin’, pet hair suckin’ and lightweight cleanin’ love with one of you. And if your house is home to a canine or a feline with a bit more fur than our bald-bellied Burger, this little bonus prize might come in handy too: they’re throwing in a Bissell’s Pet Hair Broom for our big winner as well.

Bissell Pet Broom2

Even if you don’t find yourself sweeping up much pet hair, the broom’s rubber bristles (which attract fur like a magnet) are retractable for your normal sweep jobs. So here’s how you can get your paws on this prize set which- thanks to the broom- technically doesn’t completely suck.

  • PRIZE: A Bissell 82H1 Cleanview Helix Bagless Upright Vacuum Cleaner and Pet Hair Broom
  • TO ENTER: Comment on this post with the words “CLEAN ME” and…
  • BONUS QUESTION: … tell us about any of your spring cleaning rituals that are already underway in your house (or any that you might be diving into soon). Getting the garden ready? Washing all the windows? Taking us up on our closet cleaning party? Spill it.
  • GIVEAWAY CLOSES: Wednesday, March 10th at 8pm EST
  • NUMBER OF WINNERS: One
  • PRIZE SHIPS: Home to the world’s best and second-best hockey teams (that’s Canada and the US, fyi)
  • USUAL STUFF: One entry per e-mail address is permitted. The winner will be selected using random.org and announced on Thursday. Good luck!

    CLEAN ME!

I love cleaning and am not doing anything special for my house, spring cleaning wise – but I AM doing a complete overhaul of my inner self! I have decided to get rid of all those little problems that sometimes turn me into Negative Nancy and am doing so by writing them on a piece of paper in bright colors, reading them out aloud to an understanding audience of plants, and then throwing them in the recycling bin where they belong. If getting rid of silly personal problems is not the perfect spring cleaning, I do not know what is!

We will be hosting our wedding after-party in our small home. Spring/Wedding prep TO-DO list includes: New carpet (our old one has HAD IT!). We don’t currently own a vacuum because our old carpet ruined 2 old vaccums because the fibers shed sooo much. Second spring clearning project, cleaning out our garage to make it into a lounge area. We’re on a very limited budget. This amazing prize would be a blessing.

We have not undertaken any spring cleaning yet–absolutely no time–but I can’t wait to crack open the windows. Fresh air in the house (especially after a harsh winter) always inspires me to clean.

    Thanks for the giveaway!

    CLEAN ME!!!

With our first baby expected to make an appearance at the end of May, I’ve been nesting like CRAZY! After getting inspired by your blog (ok, honestly, after becoming OBSESSED with your blog) I spent this weekend renovating and fixing my house on the cheap. I bought and hung new curtain rods in the living room and bedroom, and made my own curtains out of sheets on sale at Target for $6.50/piece! I also used a leftover sheet and some tension rods to create curtain doors for our closets that had awkwardly hung doors.

AND! While nesting was in order, I repainted and touched up EVERY room of the house – all the doorways, trim, baseboards, windowsills, radiators…you name it, I painted it.

Now all I need is a vacuum to help keep my newly polished home dog and cat hair free (especially since my stair attachment just broke and we have all hardwood floors throughout the rest of the house!).

We are enjoying an empty nest for the first time in almost 30 years. The last 6 years my Daughter and her two precious daughters lived with us. So my Spring Cleaning includes laying new flooring in most of the house! Can’t wait. Gee, a new vacuume that works on both carpet and wood floors would be wonderful.
Love all your fresh, creative ideas. In fact I just used the Dune Grass to paint my bathroom and I absolutely love it. I look forward to reading your blog every morning. Keep up the good work and congratulations on the Little Bean!
    Thank you,
    Diane

    CLEAN ME!

we have a ‘bonus room’ in our house that’s basically the dumping ground for all the things we haven’t yet found a place for/donated/need fixing, etc. Temporarily, of course.

At least, that’s what we always tell ourselves.

But every spring, we dig in, sort it out, get everything cleared, and essentially have the room empty and ready to fill up with stuff all over again.

    It’s a brutal cycle.

CLEAN ME…This year we have our house up for sale so we’ve basically done all of the spring cleaning stuff already, cleaned out closets, taken stuff to the goodwill, and to de-clutter we took a bunch of stuff to storage. I know once we move I’m not going to want all that stuff back in the new house though. Now its just a matter keeping the house clean for showing, with 3 kids and a dog, that’s tough.

That’s what the floor in my bedroom is saying!! I live in a lofted cottage with a ladder, so I only lug my vacuum up said ladder about once a season (it’s slightly dangerous), but now that it’s almost spring, it’s about time. When I get the vacuum up there I clear all the stuff out from under the bed: bags of clothing, extra linens, duffel bags, all of my Real Simple magazines that I can’t part with… and I vacuum every inch of that space, since it won’t happen again for months!
