Fab Freebie: This Giveaway Sucks

***This giveaway is no longer accepting entries***

Literally- it does. Hear me out for a minute. A couple of weeks ago we posted about our new Bissell vacuum, which virtually swept us off our feet (and actually sucked stuff off our floors). Well, thanks to the magic of the Interweb, that post actually caught the eye of the kind folks over at Bissell and after a few emails back and forth… tah dah! We managed to sweet talk them into a YHL giveaway. So now one lucky reader gets the chance to win their very own Bissell Cleanview Helix Bagless Vacuum Cleaner to help them spruce up every nook and cranny of their casa. Nice, right?

Bissell Cleanview

We’re psyched that Bissell’s helping us share this HEPA-filterin’, 12-amp powerin’, multi-surface settin’, pet hair suckin’ and lightweight cleanin’ love with one of you. And if your house is home to a canine or a feline with a bit more fur than our bald-bellied Burger, this little bonus prize might come in handy too: they’re throwing in a Bissell’s Pet Hair Broom for our big winner as well.

Bissell Pet Broom2

Even if you don’t find yourself sweeping up much pet hair, the broom’s rubber bristles (which attract fur like a magnet) are retractable for your normal sweep jobs. So here’s how you can get your paws on this prize set which- thanks to the broom- technically doesn’t completely suck.

  • PRIZE: A Bissell 82H1 Cleanview Helix Bagless Upright Vacuum Cleaner and Pet Hair Broom
  • TO ENTER: Comment on this post with the words “CLEAN ME” and…
  • BONUS QUESTION: … tell us about any of your spring cleaning rituals that are already underway in your house (or any that you might be diving into soon). Getting the garden ready? Washing all the windows? Taking us up on our closet cleaning party? Spill it.
  • GIVEAWAY CLOSES: Wednesday, March 10th at 8pm EST
  • NUMBER OF WINNERS: One
  • PRIZE SHIPS: Home to the world’s best and second-best hockey teams (that’s Canada and the US, fyi)
  • USUAL STUFF: One entry per e-mail address is permitted. The winner will be selected using random.org and announced on Thursday. Good luck!

    CLEAN ME!!

My step-dog, an Alaskan Malamute, has me constantly sweeping the hardwood floors and “attempting” to vacuum his hair out of the carpets. However, due to the amount of fur, my vacuum bit the dust a few weeks ago and I’ve been researching a new purchase, so in the meantime I can only sweep. As soon as we’re back with a vacuum in hand, it will be full swing spring cleaning mode around this house! ;)

We are due in May with a sweet little girl and have begun serious spring cleaning in preparation for her. We’re also sprucing up the backyard for our first baby shower next month! And we have two dogs that shed insane amounts of hair everywhere so we could definitely make good use of a new vacuum.

Clean Me!! I have 2 cats and a Golden Retriever, so this sure could come in handy. As far as Spring Cleaning plans, we’ve got quite a list including Interior cleaning, pressure washing the outside, planting some more plants, and the big one…starting a garden, which will entail us clearing out a lot of brush first. Maybe if we’re lucky we’ll be finished by December.

    CLEAN ME!!

My wife and her siblings were homeschooled all the through high school. Here in southwestern PA, homeschooling is very common and the families often work with each other to teach and support one another. Long story short, every year they have a homeschool conference with speakers and booths showing new curriculum and materials. One year my wife came up with an amazing idea, which was to have a used book sale at the conference where families could bring in their used books and last years curriculum to sell to other families at large discounts. Her family organizes and runs the sale so they keep a small percentage of the sales.

So every year at this time we go through all of our books to see what we have read and now want to pass on. In our professions we have to read alot so we get lots of books!

Also, we are 3 years into having childrens toys and with cute kids we get lots of toys given to us. My wife belongs to a mothers group and they organize a sort of “garage sale” this time of year to sell used toys, children’s and maternity clothing and other children’s items to the community. So we are also going through items that are no longer age appropriate/don’t fit/etc. and putting them up for sale. We then put the proceeds to home improvement projects. It’s our version of “Clean House”!

It’s time to get rid of the hand-me-down kitchen items and decorations that get put away and never used. Better to be at someone else’s house actually seeing the light of day!

    CLEAN ME!

I’ve already started “spring cleaning” around these parts. I never have a schedule, but I give myself a to-do list that ends up about 50x longer by the time I’m done! I don’t stress about getting things done by a certain time, unless there is an outside deadline (like donation pickup on a certain day- I know that I have to go through our clothes and have it ready by then). Usually this is me on any free day… “I guess I should do these dishes… Man, this window is really dirty… and compared to that now clean window, all the others are downright disgusting… And now that I can see clearly outside, I really should clean my car… And on and on. Lol, I’m a snowball cleaner.
