Fab Freebie: This Giveaway Sucks

***This giveaway is no longer accepting entries***

Literally- it does. Hear me out for a minute. A couple of weeks ago we posted about our new Bissell vacuum, which virtually swept us off our feet (and actually sucked stuff off our floors). Well, thanks to the magic of the Interweb, that post actually caught the eye of the kind folks over at Bissell and after a few emails back and forth… tah dah! We managed to sweet talk them into a YHL giveaway. So now one lucky reader gets the chance to win their very own Bissell Cleanview Helix Bagless Vacuum Cleaner to help them spruce up every nook and cranny of their casa. Nice, right?

Bissell Cleanview

We’re psyched that Bissell’s helping us share this HEPA-filterin’, 12-amp powerin’, multi-surface settin’, pet hair suckin’ and lightweight cleanin’ love with one of you. And if your house is home to a canine or a feline with a bit more fur than our bald-bellied Burger, this little bonus prize might come in handy too: they’re throwing in a Bissell’s Pet Hair Broom for our big winner as well.

Bissell Pet Broom2

Even if you don’t find yourself sweeping up much pet hair, the broom’s rubber bristles (which attract fur like a magnet) are retractable for your normal sweep jobs. So here’s how you can get your paws on this prize set which- thanks to the broom- technically doesn’t completely suck.

  • PRIZE: A Bissell 82H1 Cleanview Helix Bagless Upright Vacuum Cleaner and Pet Hair Broom
  • TO ENTER: Comment on this post with the words “CLEAN ME” and…
  • BONUS QUESTION: … tell us about any of your spring cleaning rituals that are already underway in your house (or any that you might be diving into soon). Getting the garden ready? Washing all the windows? Taking us up on our closet cleaning party? Spill it.
  • GIVEAWAY CLOSES: Wednesday, March 10th at 8pm EST
  • NUMBER OF WINNERS: One
  • PRIZE SHIPS: Home to the world’s best and second-best hockey teams (that’s Canada and the US, fyi)
  • USUAL STUFF: One entry per e-mail address is permitted. The winner will be selected using random.org and announced on Thursday. Good luck!

    CLEAN ME!

I have a TON of clothes to bring to Goodwill – I’ve been trying to implement the “haven’t worn it in a year? Give it away” rule and so far it’s been quite successful! That and it helps my closet stay nice and tidy. :)

The snow is almost melted at our house, so we’re getting ready to begin the annual spring yard work.

Small yard + large dog = mud in the spring.

(which also shows some evidence of how handy this vacuum and broom would be!)

Our spring cleaning ritual is pretty simple but very crucial … it’s having the grandparents take our two boys out for the day! We can get so much more accomplished, we don’t feel guilty about ignoring the kids and they get a fun day out with their grandparents!

We are in desperate need of a new vacuum! We’ve got high pile carpet and three cats. I knew our vacuum was less than awesome, but I borrowed my mom’s this weekend to start our spring cleaning and HOLY COW! I’m now obsessed with it.

We’re having people over in a few weeks, so spring cleaning has officially begun: washing windows, cleaning carpet, dusting blinds, fixing holes, painting wall marks, etc. You name it, we’ve started to do it.

I have a dog and 9 year old triplet girls – our house is always full of dog hair and stuff from all the crafts my daughters make.

Our upcoming cleaning rituals will be to see which summer clothes the girls have out grown – and to part with some toys before their birthday in July.

    Love the blog,

    CLEAN ME!

I started my “spring” cleaning in January after returning from a holiday trip. I came back refreshed and ready to tackle the clutter that had been holding me down! I’ve taken a load of stuff to Goodwill (the entire back of the Highlander full!) and have a pile of things to sell on Craigslist or Ebay. Last weekend was the laundry room — much more functional all with things I already had. And, this past weekend was warm enough to tackle the garage – with the hubby’s help. I even cleaned his small tackle box! The dog is a bit confused, but even he likes the new, pared back casa.

As always, thanks for your posts and ideas. Love it!

Like Hansel and Gretel, our pup leaves a trail. Only instead of breadcrumbs, it’s little blonde hairs. This would help with a deep clean and confuse the pup as to if this is really her house!

We actually went through a “spring cleaning” spurt in January – just couldn’t take the clutter anymore! But we’re getting ready to start our first garden together as newlyweds.

P.S. We have a 1 and a half year old shepherd and a kitten in the house that both shed like the dickens – we would defiantly be able to put these things to good use!

Once a month, on a Sunday morning, or Saturday afternoon, I like to turn on some podcasts of This American Life, turn it up really loud, put on some grungy clothes, take off my shoes, and sweep and mop the entire apartment.
When it’s nice outside I also open all the windows and let in a little fresh air.

    CLEAN ME!!

Spring cleaning is well underway. This past weekend was the kitchen cabinet, freezer and fridge purge. I pull out everything from the cabinets, give them a solid clean, lay new paper and toss old spices or things that I’ve forgotten about. The fridge gets emptied and cleaned and the freezer too. It is amazing white piles up over the winter. It is also to uncover items you forgot about that are still good and come up with a new recipe that week or weekend.

This weekend – closets! I usually do this twice a year, with the change of the seasons, I clear out everything, pack up for goodwill what I haen’t worn. The best part is the closet reorganization when I can get everything in order, folded neatly and just looking crisp. It is good time to realize holes in the wardrobe too and go shopping. :)

Next up – gardens. Over the winter the pots and gardens are just a mess. It feels great to get out there, get rid of the winter debris and spruce things up in time for spring flowers….and grilling season.

I love my house post a few solid weekends of spring cleaning. It feels so neat, orderly and fresh. You can open up the windows and smell the cool spring air!
