Fab Freebie: This Giveaway Sucks

***This giveaway is no longer accepting entries***

Literally- it does. Hear me out for a minute. A couple of weeks ago we posted about our new Bissell vacuum, which virtually swept us off our feet (and actually sucked stuff off our floors). Well, thanks to the magic of the Interweb, that post actually caught the eye of the kind folks over at Bissell and after a few emails back and forth… tah dah! We managed to sweet talk them into a YHL giveaway. So now one lucky reader gets the chance to win their very own Bissell Cleanview Helix Bagless Vacuum Cleaner to help them spruce up every nook and cranny of their casa. Nice, right?

Bissell Cleanview

We’re psyched that Bissell’s helping us share this HEPA-filterin’, 12-amp powerin’, multi-surface settin’, pet hair suckin’ and lightweight cleanin’ love with one of you. And if your house is home to a canine or a feline with a bit more fur than our bald-bellied Burger, this little bonus prize might come in handy too: they’re throwing in a Bissell’s Pet Hair Broom for our big winner as well.

Bissell Pet Broom2

Even if you don’t find yourself sweeping up much pet hair, the broom’s rubber bristles (which attract fur like a magnet) are retractable for your normal sweep jobs. So here’s how you can get your paws on this prize set which- thanks to the broom- technically doesn’t completely suck.

  • PRIZE: A Bissell 82H1 Cleanview Helix Bagless Upright Vacuum Cleaner and Pet Hair Broom
  • TO ENTER: Comment on this post with the words “CLEAN ME” and…
  • BONUS QUESTION: … tell us about any of your spring cleaning rituals that are already underway in your house (or any that you might be diving into soon). Getting the garden ready? Washing all the windows? Taking us up on our closet cleaning party? Spill it.
  • GIVEAWAY CLOSES: Wednesday, March 10th at 8pm EST
  • NUMBER OF WINNERS: One
  • PRIZE SHIPS: Home to the world’s best and second-best hockey teams (that’s Canada and the US, fyi)
  • USUAL STUFF: One entry per e-mail address is permitted. The winner will be selected using random.org and announced on Thursday. Good luck!

    CLEAN ME!!!

I’m presently not only in full spring cleaning motion, but we’re getting ready to move out soon due to a new little one to love on the way. The project of the day today? Embarrassingly enough, it has been to sort through, trash, donate, etc, all of the bags and boxes that have been piled up since we moved into this home. They’ve all been hiding away on my side of the bed, and I’m so not moving with them!!!

P.S. I could REALLY use a new vacuum. Mine. DOESN’T. suck. In the literal sense. And. that. sucks. In the figural sense.

Every spring I go through my closet and purge and move my clothes around. I keep my off season clothes off in a corner of my closet that isn’t easily accessible, so it will be time soon to switch it all around! I use this time to get rid of things I don’t wear. This year will be a little different because I’ll have to pull in all my maternity clothes and only clothes that will fit this summer while I’m nice and big. ;)

We’ve taken advantage of the nice weather this past weekend and started cleaning up the yard! We had a bad storm recently and branches were down everywhere. We’ve even cut some small trees down to open up the back yard.

CLEAN ME! I have a lot of houses to clean this Spring and those tools would be the bomb! My husband and I are buying a house in a new town, moving out of our current rental, and staying in another rental in the time between the rental and new home…see what I mean…lots of houses to clean. My favorite spring cleaning task is getting everything out from underneath the beds and cleaning out all the dust bunnies and dog hair tufts.

I’m not catholic and so I don’t participate in Lent generally, but I read something this year about getting rid of “40 bags in 40 days”. I’m trying to get rid of at least SOMETHING every day. . .whether it’s throwing it away or donating it. It feels so good!

The vacuum cleaner I have now is terrible!! I would love a new one to help me deal with the massive amount of hair our golden retriever is shedding. The nice weather today motivated me to wash the windows, and wipe down the walls with Murphy’s Oil Soap. Hopefully this week I may also pack away my heaviest sweaters and bring out some spring clothes. I think I have spring fever…

    CLEAN ME

Our spring cleaning this year will be different (and far more exciting) than any year’s spring cleaning has ever been for us. This month we’re moving out of our crumby apartment and into our very own first home! So spring cleaning will entail much bigger projects than just washing the blinds on the windows or shaking out the area rugs. One of our first big projects will be coming up with organized systems for our closets – something I know nothing about yet. Glad to see it’s something you’re working on as well!

CLEAN ME! I haven’t started spring cleaning yet but I have started a trick this year to cut down on clutter. Every time I buy a new non-essential item, I donate or repurpose something I already own. This helps me keep down on clutter and I really have to think about anything I want to buy.

Clean me!!!!!! My new spring ritual will be to clean out the detritus and unneeded stuff that I’ve collected over 27 years of teaching special education. You wouldn’t believe the stuff that I have to sort through, file, fix, rehome or toss. I’m currently working with preschoolers with special needs. Let’s just say the carpets, rugs, and tile floors are littered with bits of paper, broken crayons, crushed goldfish crackers and unidentifiable things at the end of the school day. A clean classroom is a happy classroom. I would love to have this fabulous vacuum to keep my room clean and dust and dirt free!

My spring cleaning “to do” is to go through my closets and sort items into piles: keep, think about it, and trash/donate. Anything that I need to think about for too long ends up getting trashed/donated.

I’m going to clean out all the kitchen cabinets very soon – I haven’t taken *everything* out and cleaned since I moved in 8 years ago, and they’re a bit dusty. I’d also like to add some organization… my “plastics” and “pots/pans” cabinet are just a little more cluttered than I’d like!

In between planning our June wedding/move (busy busy busy) we’re trying to get some spring cleaning done to ease the packing process. I’ve packed up two bags of old clothes. But our biggest annual ritual is airing out the house after a cold winter holed up in illinois! we’re doing one room at a time because it’s not quite warm enough outside here yet, but our room is smelling like fresh clean air (not the bottled/candle variety) and that’s enough to get spring-fever flowing!!!
