Fab Freebie: This Giveaway Sucks

***This giveaway is no longer accepting entries***

Literally- it does. Hear me out for a minute. A couple of weeks ago we posted about our new Bissell vacuum, which virtually swept us off our feet (and actually sucked stuff off our floors). Well, thanks to the magic of the Interweb, that post actually caught the eye of the kind folks over at Bissell and after a few emails back and forth… tah dah! We managed to sweet talk them into a YHL giveaway. So now one lucky reader gets the chance to win their very own Bissell Cleanview Helix Bagless Vacuum Cleaner to help them spruce up every nook and cranny of their casa. Nice, right?

Bissell Cleanview

We’re psyched that Bissell’s helping us share this HEPA-filterin’, 12-amp powerin’, multi-surface settin’, pet hair suckin’ and lightweight cleanin’ love with one of you. And if your house is home to a canine or a feline with a bit more fur than our bald-bellied Burger, this little bonus prize might come in handy too: they’re throwing in a Bissell’s Pet Hair Broom for our big winner as well.

Bissell Pet Broom2

Even if you don’t find yourself sweeping up much pet hair, the broom’s rubber bristles (which attract fur like a magnet) are retractable for your normal sweep jobs. So here’s how you can get your paws on this prize set which- thanks to the broom- technically doesn’t completely suck.

  • PRIZE: A Bissell 82H1 Cleanview Helix Bagless Upright Vacuum Cleaner and Pet Hair Broom
  • TO ENTER: Comment on this post with the words “CLEAN ME” and…
  • BONUS QUESTION: … tell us about any of your spring cleaning rituals that are already underway in your house (or any that you might be diving into soon). Getting the garden ready? Washing all the windows? Taking us up on our closet cleaning party? Spill it.
  • GIVEAWAY CLOSES: Wednesday, March 10th at 8pm EST
  • NUMBER OF WINNERS: One
  • PRIZE SHIPS: Home to the world’s best and second-best hockey teams (that’s Canada and the US, fyi)
  • USUAL STUFF: One entry per e-mail address is permitted. The winner will be selected using random.org and announced on Thursday. Good luck!

Given we’re in the salination capital of Canada, I’ve been sweeping, vacuuming, and shaking winter salt out of closets and carpets.

I’ve also starting washing and storing doggy coats ;)

Clean me. I try to clean and weed out as I go especially as my closets aren’t that big (would love walk-ins!), but about twice a year I go through everything in the closets and brutally throw out things I’m not wearing, know I won’t wear, etc.

Nows the time to sort through all the “junk” we’ve somehow managed to accumulate over the last year and decide what we really need and want. Living in a tiny apartment doesn’t leave a lot of room for extras!

Our spring cleaning means we go through our closets and donate clothes, toys and furniture. We also have someone come in and deep clean our carpet. We dust our entire house and we also clean out our garage. It usually takes two full weekends to get it all done.

We are currently undergoing a big reno in the basement of our 90 year-old Dutch Colonial. Also putting in a built-in shelving unit on the main floor in hopes of more storage for our kiddies’ goodies. The sun is out in Vancouver (where the world’s best and second best hockey teams faced off!!) so I see dust all over–help us suck up all this drywall dust, please :)

CLEAN ME – I just started by cleaning the kitchen sink of it’s water stains. It’s the first time I’ve had a porcelain/cast iron sink, so I didn’t realize how gross and stained it would look if we didn’t dry it every time. A little bleach followed by Bar Keeper’s Friend and it’s gorgeous!

On March 1st my son alerts me that it’s time to plan the garden, draws up a list of what we want to grow, we head down to Agway and buy three times more seeds than we’ll ever plant – except for tomatoes, we’ll plant and eat ALL the tomatoes! Then he designs the layout on a big piece of paper, tapes all the packets to it (’cause they’re so pretty) and hangs it on his wall. And then we wait…because the last frost up here is near Memorial Day. Sigh.
