Fab Freebie: This Giveaway Sucks

***This giveaway is no longer accepting entries***

Literally- it does. Hear me out for a minute. A couple of weeks ago we posted about our new Bissell vacuum, which virtually swept us off our feet (and actually sucked stuff off our floors). Well, thanks to the magic of the Interweb, that post actually caught the eye of the kind folks over at Bissell and after a few emails back and forth… tah dah! We managed to sweet talk them into a YHL giveaway. So now one lucky reader gets the chance to win their very own Bissell Cleanview Helix Bagless Vacuum Cleaner to help them spruce up every nook and cranny of their casa. Nice, right?

Bissell Cleanview

We’re psyched that Bissell’s helping us share this HEPA-filterin’, 12-amp powerin’, multi-surface settin’, pet hair suckin’ and lightweight cleanin’ love with one of you. And if your house is home to a canine or a feline with a bit more fur than our bald-bellied Burger, this little bonus prize might come in handy too: they’re throwing in a Bissell’s Pet Hair Broom for our big winner as well.

Bissell Pet Broom2

Even if you don’t find yourself sweeping up much pet hair, the broom’s rubber bristles (which attract fur like a magnet) are retractable for your normal sweep jobs. So here’s how you can get your paws on this prize set which- thanks to the broom- technically doesn’t completely suck.

  • PRIZE: A Bissell 82H1 Cleanview Helix Bagless Upright Vacuum Cleaner and Pet Hair Broom
  • TO ENTER: Comment on this post with the words “CLEAN ME” and…
  • BONUS QUESTION: … tell us about any of your spring cleaning rituals that are already underway in your house (or any that you might be diving into soon). Getting the garden ready? Washing all the windows? Taking us up on our closet cleaning party? Spill it.
  • GIVEAWAY CLOSES: Wednesday, March 10th at 8pm EST
  • NUMBER OF WINNERS: One
  • PRIZE SHIPS: Home to the world’s best and second-best hockey teams (that’s Canada and the US, fyi)
  • USUAL STUFF: One entry per e-mail address is permitted. The winner will be selected using random.org and announced on Thursday. Good luck!

We have a million things to do, including yard clean-up, cleaning the garage and a basement storage area. With a 3-month-old baby in the house, it will probably be August before we get all our “spring cleaning” done!

OMG I would die to have this vacuum. Ours is so ancient, I doubt it even does half the job this one would.

Anyway…one of our big spring cleaning rituals is to take the sliding shower doors off the hinges, and scrub them silly. We have water that leaves a nasty deposit on them, and it’s like having a new bathroom when we’re done!

I am especially looking forward to the warm days when my two cats will spend a lot of time outside, therefore leaving less pet hair in the house!

In the spring, I always clean out my closet and give away a big bag of clothes that I did not wear during winter.

I also start planning the lay-out of my lot at the community garden to be ready to plant tasty veggies as soon as possible!

This weekend I went around and got all those invisible cobwebs from the ceilings and corners all over the house. And now I’m knee deep in cleaning out all the cabinets and drawers in the kitchen, and reassessing how I use my kitchen to reorganize and put everything back for more efficient use.

We’ve only lived in our house for a few months, so we’ve not gathered enough grime for a good spring clean, but I am working hard to build a cleaning routine. My arch-enemy in this endeavor is my husband’s cat. Assuming i don’t win, I may buy a pet hair broom. I did not know this existed and it has made my monday. ;-)

Spring seems to be the time right before I move (4 times in the last 5 years) So I do a basic overhaul and donate clothes I don’t wear, then I do my best to not replace anything.
Also I get excited to open the house and air everything out, there’s nothing better than a fresh smelling house!
