Fab Freebie: This Giveaway Sucks

***This giveaway is no longer accepting entries***

Literally- it does. Hear me out for a minute. A couple of weeks ago we posted about our new Bissell vacuum, which virtually swept us off our feet (and actually sucked stuff off our floors). Well, thanks to the magic of the Interweb, that post actually caught the eye of the kind folks over at Bissell and after a few emails back and forth… tah dah! We managed to sweet talk them into a YHL giveaway. So now one lucky reader gets the chance to win their very own Bissell Cleanview Helix Bagless Vacuum Cleaner to help them spruce up every nook and cranny of their casa. Nice, right?

Bissell Cleanview

We’re psyched that Bissell’s helping us share this HEPA-filterin’, 12-amp powerin’, multi-surface settin’, pet hair suckin’ and lightweight cleanin’ love with one of you. And if your house is home to a canine or a feline with a bit more fur than our bald-bellied Burger, this little bonus prize might come in handy too: they’re throwing in a Bissell’s Pet Hair Broom for our big winner as well.

Bissell Pet Broom2

Even if you don’t find yourself sweeping up much pet hair, the broom’s rubber bristles (which attract fur like a magnet) are retractable for your normal sweep jobs. So here’s how you can get your paws on this prize set which- thanks to the broom- technically doesn’t completely suck.

  • PRIZE: A Bissell 82H1 Cleanview Helix Bagless Upright Vacuum Cleaner and Pet Hair Broom
  • TO ENTER: Comment on this post with the words “CLEAN ME” and…
  • BONUS QUESTION: … tell us about any of your spring cleaning rituals that are already underway in your house (or any that you might be diving into soon). Getting the garden ready? Washing all the windows? Taking us up on our closet cleaning party? Spill it.
  • GIVEAWAY CLOSES: Wednesday, March 10th at 8pm EST
  • NUMBER OF WINNERS: One
  • PRIZE SHIPS: Home to the world’s best and second-best hockey teams (that’s Canada and the US, fyi)
  • USUAL STUFF: One entry per e-mail address is permitted. The winner will be selected using random.org and announced on Thursday. Good luck!

Spring cleaning at our house will start for the first time since we just moved into a house from a condo. So we’ll start with the closets, cabinets, pantry, basement, and garage. Then Move onto the molding and base boards! ugh!

    Clean me.

Spring cleaning has been in full force the past two weekends. The first weekend, I washed all the windows from the outside. A little water, a little vinegar, and voila – clean. The past weekend, we tackled the basement. We cleaned out all the boxes of things we hadn’t unpacked since August. We threw a ton out, took a road trip to the dump. It feels so good to have the basement organized and clean.

Since we have decided that we will be moving back home (from TX to OK) in about 6 months so that my husband can work for his dad, our spring cleaning will be actually renovating (a bathroom and the kitchen), packing, donating, painting and scrubbing the entire house. I’m tired just thinking about it! Oh yeah, and we’re accountants so our lives are miserable from about January through the end of March so the house just gets progressively messier for a few months, THEN we get to do all the fun stuff!!

I’ve started the spring cleaning process (I have a massive list, so I try to start in January so it’s not overwhelming). Last weekend I washed all the windows and curtains…it may be my imagination, but I feel like our house is so much cleaner now!

I have had such a hard time finding a way to keep the floors clean. We have 2 large dogs.. one a whippet/german shepard mix and the other greyhound/german shepard mix. Both seem to shed year round and daily!! I would love to win this prize, it would make my year!

Spring cleaning for me is to re-evaluate all the stuff I haven’t used in the passed year (or max of 3 years) to see if it is worth keeping. If not, items are to be donated, given away, or trash/recycle. We have limited space so this helps keep the clutter down.

I start my spring cleaning with washing windows. Dirty windows are a pet peeve of mine. Twice a year, spring and fall I clean from top to bottom, woodwork, re-polishing and buffing hardwood floors..etc.

Then I go through the closets and donate clothing we haven’t worn for a while to a local charity called Big Sisters of Rhode Island.

As for Spring cleaning rituals, I pretty much like to organize everything…linen closets, pantry, kitchen cabinets, etc. Also, this year is super special because it is the first Spring in our first house, with a YARD! So I have spend the last 3 weekends pulling up sod, digging up dirt, and mixing in compost and fertilizer for our garden space…so exciting!
