Fab Freebie: This Giveaway Sucks

***This giveaway is no longer accepting entries***

Literally- it does. Hear me out for a minute. A couple of weeks ago we posted about our new Bissell vacuum, which virtually swept us off our feet (and actually sucked stuff off our floors). Well, thanks to the magic of the Interweb, that post actually caught the eye of the kind folks over at Bissell and after a few emails back and forth… tah dah! We managed to sweet talk them into a YHL giveaway. So now one lucky reader gets the chance to win their very own Bissell Cleanview Helix Bagless Vacuum Cleaner to help them spruce up every nook and cranny of their casa. Nice, right?

Bissell Cleanview

We’re psyched that Bissell’s helping us share this HEPA-filterin’, 12-amp powerin’, multi-surface settin’, pet hair suckin’ and lightweight cleanin’ love with one of you. And if your house is home to a canine or a feline with a bit more fur than our bald-bellied Burger, this little bonus prize might come in handy too: they’re throwing in a Bissell’s Pet Hair Broom for our big winner as well.

Bissell Pet Broom2

Even if you don’t find yourself sweeping up much pet hair, the broom’s rubber bristles (which attract fur like a magnet) are retractable for your normal sweep jobs. So here’s how you can get your paws on this prize set which- thanks to the broom- technically doesn’t completely suck.

  • PRIZE: A Bissell 82H1 Cleanview Helix Bagless Upright Vacuum Cleaner and Pet Hair Broom
  • TO ENTER: Comment on this post with the words “CLEAN ME” and…
  • BONUS QUESTION: … tell us about any of your spring cleaning rituals that are already underway in your house (or any that you might be diving into soon). Getting the garden ready? Washing all the windows? Taking us up on our closet cleaning party? Spill it.
  • GIVEAWAY CLOSES: Wednesday, March 10th at 8pm EST
  • NUMBER OF WINNERS: One
  • PRIZE SHIPS: Home to the world’s best and second-best hockey teams (that’s Canada and the US, fyi)
  • USUAL STUFF: One entry per e-mail address is permitted. The winner will be selected using random.org and announced on Thursday. Good luck!

    CLEAN ME!

My biggest spring cleaning ritual is just decluttering and making a salvation army run. I go through my closet and drawers and try to get rid of anything I haven’t worn in over a year.

Window washing and a good inside out cleaning of the car is coming up soon too.

    CLEAN ME!

This weekend, I sorted all the aluminum cans, bottles, and plastic bottles that have accumulated over the last year, and dragged them all to the recyler. Since we just stuffed the bags in an unused shed outside, we didn’t realize how much we had accumulated–it was embarrassing! BUT I’m $50 richer (or I had $50 reimbursed because of CRV), and I got a fab new hair cut with the money!

Next project: painting the bathroom! I’ve had the paint for a year, but never got around to actually painting. Since Spring’s a time for renewal, it seems like the perfect time to paint!

I’m off for “spring break” next week so I plan on beginning to deep clean the house… I guess the only different thing than regular cleaning right now will be wiping baseboards and cupboards. Windows will come later!

CLEAN ME! My fiancee and I just bought our first house so spring cleaning this year means purging the house of anything we haven’t used and won’t be using, while we pack. Your closet post was a great inspiration. We could definitely use the vacuum and the broom in our new house since my fiancee has allergies (hello, HEPA-filter!) and we have two dogs (hello, pet hair!).

It is nearly impossible to keep our place clean with the constant renovations that we are doing. I can’t wait until everything is done and I can finally find a place for everything. Unfortunately, that is a long way away!

This isn’t exactly a “cleaning” ritual but since you said spring it made me think of it. Nothing says “spring cleaning” in our house like 60 degree weather (in Mass) in MARCH! We had ALL the windows in our house open yesterday which hasn’t happened in MONTHS! Fresh air = spring cleaning motivation! : )

My spring cleaning will include {finally} unpacking the rest of my boxes from college! I graduated 2 years ago and moved home with the ‘rents… I haven’t had a need for the kitchen utensils, extra bedding & random decorations… so they’ve been sitting in boxes! I’d say it’s about time to unpack them and donate what I wont use anymore!

    CLEAN ME!

We’ve squeezed ourselves into a teeny tiny one-bedroom apartment (600 square feet!) and my old stick-vac just isn’t cutting it now that we have two people’s dust to suck up.

This spring we need to clean out the closets — both the linen closet and the coat and clothes closets — and get rid of the things we don’t use so that they can go to someone who will use them (well, hello, salvation army truck!). Then we need to go through the collection under our bed and hunt down the gopher-sized dust bunnies that I’m sure are down there.
